I particularly liked the comical comment by “The Buenos Aires press that the two exploratory wells to be drilled are “very close to the Argentine 200 miles continental platform outer limit” ”. So in other words they are within the Falkland Islands (there are no Malvinas) legal waters.

Isolde - yes these rigs have sonar to detect subs. Well, they can detect the outdated iron diesel/electric powered crap Argentina has but no chance with our stealthy nuclear powered Hunter Killers or Trident. At least one of these subs is permanently on patrol in the South Atlantic and knows where evey single one of your ships is :-)

But then they were also planning on staging a mock invasion by getting fishermen to land on the islands and raise the argentina flag, which is what led to Cameron calling the national security meeting last week.

One feels bad fot the good Argentinians, maybe 30$ of the country, though I have been told by Argentinians that even that is a kind estimation.
In short, it is a culture/society/country just moments away from entering the dustbin of history. It could not happen to a more deserving people.
Also: Mercosur nations combined could not defend Argentina and won't.
