    A few weeks ago...

”Anadarko Petroleum Co. has agreed to pay $4 billion to BP PLC as part of a settlement related to last year’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
BP said Monday that Anadarko’s payment will form part of the British company’s $20 billion trust fund, which has paid out $7 billion so far to settle claims from individuals and businesses. Eleven workers were killed when the Deepwater Horizon rig at the Macondo well exploded off Louisiana on April 20, 2010, causing the largest oil spill in U.S. history.
In its asset disposal program, BP has announced at least 15 sales including:

    • Its 60 percent stake in Argentina-based oil and gas producer Pan American Energy to Bridas Corp. of Argentina for $7 billion.

    According to days news
Four execs from Anadarko flew to port Stanley last week for talks, apparently some of the members of the board consists of former top US defence bosses
Anadarko has got approval from the highest levels in the US .
If agreed this would boost mr Cameron and a hammer blow to argentines claim.

They are not the only interested party :-) Bidding war anyone.

All this demonstrates is how nobody of any worth considers Argentina of any relevance to the emerging FI oil industry. Too much for you to admit isn't it. Arr pity poor Argentina with a chip on her shoulder :-(

“Anadarko, Kerr-McGee Can’t Limit $15.5 Billion Claim in Lawsuit”

    By Tiffany Kary
    January 21, 2012

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Allan Gropper in Manhattan denied the request from The Woodlands, Texas-based Anadarko and Kerr-McGee (KMG) in court papers filed yesterday. His ruling paves the way for Tronox creditors and the government to argue in a May trial that the companies should pay billions of dollars to clean up thousands of polluted sites around the U.S. and compensate people who claim they were harmed by Kerr-McGee’s toxins.

“The amounts at stake are possibly enormous but at this point wholly uncertain,” Gropper wrote, noting that a separate estimate of tort and environmental damages in the case had been $1.9 billion to $6.9 billion. Gropper ...

Marcos - I don't know of it will be Anadarko but it will happen and you are too spineless to gamble against me. I think they may still be front runners and they will have US gvt backing :-)

We are going into procuction and you are too insignificant to stop it.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together and when the Argies cannot organize a piss up in a brewery. Argentina, that land of false dawns and no hope!

    TWIMC:

Mercopress and many other, more or less serious, sources on internet say:
”The Sunday Times reported that Anadarko is in talks with Rockhopper that may lead to a takeover of the company. Anadarko executives last week met managers of the UK company according to the report.”

I (THINK) HAVE JUST CHECKED THE WHOLE BLOODY SUNDAY TIMES AND COULDN’ FIND ANYTHING ABOUT THIS “STORY”! ....NOTHING! …… NADA! .... RIEN! …. NIENTE! ..... NICHTS! .....COMPRENDE….....?

    MercPress goes on saying:
”According to Houston press reports Anadarko made a provisional offer to invest nearly 1.6 billion dollars in Rockhopper. Allegedly four Anadarko executives flew to Port Stanley recently to meet with the UK explorer”

THEY MUST SURELY BE REFERRING TO FOLLOWING ARTICLE:
    http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2012/01/anadarko-makes-provisional-rockhopper.html

BUT…………. THIS HOUSTON “SOURCE” HAS ONLY CUTTED AND PASTED YESTERDAY’S STORY FROM THE SUN....:
    http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2012/01/anadarko-makes-provisional-rockhopper.html

    NO SUNDAY TIMES STORY….
    NO “HOUSTON PRESS” REPORTS….
JUST A “GOOD STORY” ON THE SUN…!

@7 Getting desperate? First this and then the Caribbean. Isn't life sh*te? Well, yours is. How's your failing economy?

Look on the bright side. In a few years' time the Falkland Islands will be able to BUY argieland. Then you can all learn to ride donkeys. In other words, each other, and round up the feral animals for your masters. Argies will then revert to their proper place. Like monkeys. Sorry. They are monkeys, aren't they?

Would it be true to say
    [And this is ONLY speculation]
That if the USA invested in this oil, and other things,
Would it not be true, that, this interest would be liable for protection from the American naval fleets, and the USAF,
Not that they would be needed,
And it may well just be , vanity,
    But an interesting thought.
    Just an opinion.

Certainly, a US Company is a US Asset, and the US would defend it, I wouldn't be surprised if the tanker/drilling rig moored over the well would be defended with various US weapon systems, and that it would have sophisticated radar integrated with the Falkland Islands existing radar systems, and do we not have a UK Spy Satellite over head, up there to protect British interests in the South Atlantic? Smile think, you're on candid camera.

The Falkland Islands will be protected for as long as they wish, and now it seems the US will be a player in that protection.

Dreyfoss-27. That story about the Cruise Ship was invented in Buenos Aires Foreign Ministry and you know it! We have had a LOT more Arg passport holders ashore thatn that from previous vessels!! Why would we stop some £1/4 million being earned in the place just for a petty reason? We know Arg is petty - but we are not!
As for the Oil- if developed - You really are a dumbo if you believe what any paper says be in in UK-USA_Arg!! Look instead at official Govt Statements from the 2 Governments concerned- UK and Falkland Islands. Both make it 100% CLEAR - all revenue would accrue to FI Govt.

Think - I am with you I think on this - there is a lot of “hot air” about on all sides at the moment! Time will tell.

U.S. Position on the Falkland (Malvinas) Islands

    Tuesday, 24 January 2012, 10:00 am
    Press Release: US State Department
    Taken Question
    Office of the Spokesperson
    Washington, DC

Question Taken at the January 19, 2012 Daily Press Briefing
    January 20, 2012

    ________________________________________
QUESTION: Does the U.S. take a position on the recent posturing between the United Kingdom and Argentina over the Falklands?

ANSWER: This is a bilateral issue that needs to be worked out directly between the governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom. We encourage both parties to resolve their differences through dialogue in normal diplomatic channels.

We recognize de facto United Kingdom administration of the islands but take no position regarding sovereignty.

    Smooth shiny silky and clean,

The world is our oyster, that we set in stone.
So give us what we want, and leave us alone
