“I now grant the Federal Reserve new authority.”

Obama just days after taking office.

Of course he's going to say that. That is what he was put in office to say.

Well, that is one of the things he was put in office to say.

He promised to defend Main street. He defends Wall street.

He promised to end the war(s). He now promises to extend them.

He promised racial “healing”. He now foments racial division.

The office of the President of the U.S.A. or any country has long since been reduced to that of a figure head, like the Queen of England.
He's a PR guy for specific private interest groups and, of course, for the Banks.

I agree, Malvinero. Representative democracies can easily be taken hostage by groups whose views don't represent those of the majority, and whose agenda may harm common citizens, if they are well-organized, well-funded and have easy access to the media. The unbalance becomes even more visible in the context of high income inequality.

I'm not sure it is, and it depends. South America isn't uniform - Argentina and Uruguay are much better in this respect than Brazil or Chile; and those two countries do better than Colombia and Bolivia. I don't know about Africa as a whole, but the southern states, such as Botswana and South Africa, are much more unequal than any South American country. Moreover, South America as a whole is the only region that has been growing less unequal, that is, in contrast to Africa, it has already started a process to ameliorate that situation.

The Democrtas have only two cards to play: the race card and the class envy card. Its all a counter feint to fool Boobus Americanus who is distracted while Obama gives the taxpayer's money to the rich bankers.
