“Leo” wines to support Messi’s Foundation programs to help children promoting sports

Currently the best player in the world, and disputing the title of best of all times

An Argentine winery will be launching next April a line of Sauvignon and Chardonnay with the brand name “Leo” in honour of the brilliant player and striker of the world’s currently greatest team Barcelona, Leonel Messi.

The enterprise is a joint venture with the Messi foundation, announced the company in charge of the production and bottling.

A percentage of the sales of the Leo brand to be launched by Bodegas Valentin Bianchi from the Argentine wine producing province of Mendoza will be destined in support of the different charities sponsored by the Messi foundation.

“This undertaking will collaborate with the Messi Foundation with the purpose of continuing to build and support projects for children health care and education, and having sports as the foundation to combat vulnerability”, said the winery in a brief release.

The Messi foundation was born with the idea that all the children have the same opportunities to make their dreams come true through sports”, points out the release.

Among some of the projects sponsored by the foundation are training scholarships in Barcelona for Argentine doctors to specialize in children’s cancer treatment and paediatrics; support for combating the Mal de Chagas or American trypanosomiasis, a tropical parasitic disease in the north of Argentina and the foundation also has recovered playing spaces for children in Rosario City public grounds.

The three times winner of the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s World Player of the Year, Leonel Messi was born in the city of Rosario in June 1987.
