Argentine President Cristina Fernández is expected to make an announcement related to the Falklands/Malvinas Islands and most probably oil exploration on Tuesday afternoon, reports the Buenos Aires press. Read full article
The prima donna is putting as much as she can into the build up because when the audience realises there is no opera they'll be let down. Like I said on the weekend, tell her to make it quick. Eastenders is on at 7.30.
Wow - convincing the already convinced! That'll make a huge difference.
We know it's a State policy Helter, and we know that Argentina is in a state!
Rhetoric rules ... the real question is what can she do, in practical terms. Maybe that's why we sent the big, new ship. Active harassment of oil vessels will be harder with a decent patrol ship down there. Rumours of at least one sub too.
But I suspect some other attempt to make the fledgling oil industry too expensive to attract the big boys ...interesting - I shall watch with interest.
Of course, it could all turn out to be petty and emotional - I do hope not. It's about time Argentina started putting up a decent fight :-)
OOOOooh a major announcement, let me guess, she will call the UK some nasty words again, ban LAN chile from the islands and whip the crowd up into a hysterical nationalist frenzy.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Argentina is running a budget deficit to the tune of $40 billion? and that the reserve bank has got diddly squat in the way of capital to service the debt :)
Ah diverting the public's attention isn't it joyous :)
Surrender?????
That is very funny I guess that the only surrender Argies are interested on it is the song of lovely Kate Ryan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO5vOjJD_eY
@12 ,The opposition will not oppose anything ,nor will the jounalists.....That is the problem, you do not have a free press and you are brainwashed with the party line. They will soon have to re-open the Navy Engineering School which will be necessary to maintain social order and eradicate political subversives . She will also sign a number of decrees empowering the military and the police to annihilate any subversion. Poder Ejecutivo Nacional will soon be back to haunt you. The Plastic Bag is another Isabel and will soon be getting rid of any Union leaders etc etc.One thing we learn from history is that it always repeats its self.
No Helber, the point I was making is that all Argentines go through a process of brainwashing at school and later. I experienced it myself in the 1970s. I shouldn't think it's changed one bit, apart from singing the himno de malvinas argentinas. The same lies and myths drummed into school kids the length of Argentina. Nobody questions the facts. No awkward questions allowed. Social ostracism for those who do... it's a national religion. No challenges allowed.
No viscount unfortunately for you history doesn't always repeat itself but as is happening now in Latin America can alo move forward and leave the likes of you behind. Punishing and disempowering the old torturers doesn not equal another wave of torture.
#3 Yes indeed, and even the gutter Murdoch Sun had a profile on her sexier than Evita and as tough as Maggie I think it was called, obviously tried to make her look bad but amazingly had to admit her popularity was down to the success of her leftist policies (despite them being the opposite of the Sun's own ideas of course!) I agree with the article that Cristina is more substantial (as well as prettier) than Evita, I'd also say she's a better and more progressive leader than Peron (as well as, praise the lord, more powerful!)
#10 What a weird name for a troll, like Isolde and Elaine you have a beautiful name yet post reactionary ugliness =) But here you do let out what this is akll really about, Cameron is using the self-determination of the islanders to nick vast amounts of oil in Argentine waters. Theres so many solutions that the two sides could come to, respecting the islanders' rights, if only Britian would negotiate as Cristina requests, but Cameron wants to keep a complete lockdown so that he can keep pilfering the oil
My money is on here, annoucing to that all oil companies with connections to the falklands will have their argentina assets and operations nationalised, and will be banned from operating in argentina. If so, what a billiant own goal that would be lol.
@15BK,
l post the truth as l see it. lf you don't like it then thats just too bad.
l don't give a rat's arse for you stupid malvinistas.
lts not your land & never will be.
l hope theres heaps of oil just to annoy you lot. Because you're not getting a microdrop of it.

Are we ignorant brutes, Helber?
Just because we don't want you incompetents ruining our country.
This is NOT Argentine land, old bean. lts OURS! &now we'll have OIL, OIL, OIL, OIL.
How does that make you deluded malvinistas feel!
Bad, l hope
@18 She has to ramp up the issue because a lot of Argentines are mightily pissed off with her at the moment. I was speaking to some Argentine buisnessmen in Buenos Aires last week and their view of her new policy on imports was, and I quote, She has completely fucked our country now. The general consensus is that she is out of her depth, barking mad and that the economy is about to implode.
I'm just curious, can one of you Argentinos tell me what would become of the Falklands and the people who live there should Argentina, just for argument's sake, ever get control of them again? I'm just curious what would happen, how would it affect the typical Argentino, etc.
@15 Don't be silly. CFK isn't even prettier than a pig. She may look OK for the cattle, at a distance, but take a close look and she is clearly a fat slag. Wonder if she really arranged for good ole Nestor to have a heart attack so she could get her hands on all the money?
You're going to have difficulty with this so I'll take it slowly. Exploration and drilling for oil is matter for the Falkland Islands Government, not the British government. Britain cannot negotiate because the Falkland Islands don't want to negotiate and the British government, and the British people, are committed to supporting the Falkland Islands Goverment and the Falklands people. In any event, the Falklands could not negotiate because argieland doesn't recognise that it is a self-governing territory with the right to make its own decisions and go its own way. Oh, and any oil will be the property of the Falkland Islands. Not Britain. And most certainly not argieland.
Tell us, pray, what is a British Kirchnerist? Does that mean you're a British coward or an argie spy?
@3 & 5 I hope you understand how close you are getting to a sinking war. As far as I can make out. your comic-opera forces have not yet interfered with an actual British or Falkland Islands crew or vessel. Or the attempt has simply been ignored. Actual action on your part seems to have been limited to Spanish and Uruguayan vessels. But you are getting close to a line.
I have noticed, on your part, an inclination to make reference to various items of international law that you think support your views. See whether you can take the time and trouble to read, and understand, Articles 73, 74 and 51, in that order, of the UN Charter. An international agreement that your country signed and ratified. For the time being, let's not comment on the binding Security Council resolution that your country ignored in 1982 because it didn't suit you.
@19
Its pretty disgusting that such propaganda is allowed to continue within the Education System of Argentina in the 21st Century, it was presented as a history lesson, but that lesson bears no relation to the teaching of history, it shows only one version of events, one set of opinions on the events, yet history is all about presenting different versions of events, presenting verifiable evidence from many sources, and enabling the students to make a balanced decision after weighing up all the arguments and evidence, even discarding arguments and evidence that are flawed.
Children must be taught to think for themselves, to expand their ideas, and have those judged by their peers, yet that lesson is a total abomination to both the faculty of history, and the provision of education, and amounts to a form of child abuse, because it is blatant brainwashing.
If such a lesson had been taught here in the UK, using just the British presented evidence, and not even acknowledging the evidence presented by Argentina, or records held by the US, or elsewhere, the students would have ridiculed the lesson and the teacher trying to present it, because at that age they are used to deciding on subjects based on the merits of the evidence, because at that age many of them, if not all, already know how to think for themselves.
Such a lesson is only possible if the propaganda is prevalent within the entire education system, from reception to the year of leaving, with all parents and teachers already brainwashed from years of repeating the same crap. Its not a National Cause in Argentina, its a Nationalistic Psychosis, this is what happens when fascism isn't stamped out by a World War, it blends itself into Peronism, into every political and social institution, including the education system, it is a programmed brainwashing by the state.
You think you're so superior to everyone else, but really you're all fcuking nut jobs standing in a circle holding your dicks having a group wank.
British Kirchenerite lives in Scotland on our tax money, says he is British (but a lot of muslim radicals are also British) and will vote to keep Scotland in the Union (because he likes us paying for Old Salmon Face and The Hag I suspect).
Don't you wish we could send these lazy bastards to where they THINK they would be better off?
#20 The general consensus is that she is out of her depth, barking mad and that the economy is about to implode.
Maybe in the plutocratic circles you now say you move in thats the consensus. It reminds me of an old story from the British Labour Party's landslide of 1945 (when they were still a real labour party), when a rich lady was heard saying They've elected a Labour government. The country will not take it =)
#22 I am neither spy nor coward, I just support the policies of Cristina over the failed cuts of Dave Cameron as a way out of recession, and hope one day Britain will also move forward with a programme for economic growth and putting people first through investment not cuts
I believe she is going to say The Falklands have oil and it belongs to Argentina. If you do not give me back the Islas, I will scream until I am sick. Or Maybe - that she will stop the Lan flight until the next of kin want to use it for their pilgrimage in April. Or even better - I am really a man!!!!
@25 Just honest buisnessmen trying to support their families and contribute to the growth of Argentina. Rather than the numerous lazy state employees who work few hours and devote their energies to doing sod all. Some do not even have to turn up for work at all save to claim their pay. No country can sustain that model.
The Argentines are not a real nation, their country has only existed for about 175 years. Most Argentines trace their family history to Italy, Spain, Germany and the British Isles. The only real Argentines are the Amerindians and their nation is the entire continent of America.
The Argentines I know have Italian mothers, English father, Spanish grandfathers, German grandmothers, Welsh great great uncles - you even have an Irish name. It's technically impossible to claim Argentines are a nation.
They also have the most comically fascist like government on the entire continent. Their entire policy agenda revolves around a group of islands they work 24/7 to alienate the population of. While spreading lies and peddling rants about “the British” that make Mugabe look normal by comparison.
Latin Americans find Argentina an alien culture, its a colonial relic, a piece of Europe transplanted onto a continent thousands of miles away. The culture is Latin European, with a touch of English and Welsh. It certainly bears no resemblance to its neighbors in Paraguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, or Peru.
Even the Argentine honour guards wear colonial uniforms copied from the British and Spanish Imperial era.
They are a throwback to another age. An age of fascism.
It is interesting that she announces to the world of this great speech, on Tuesday, she will mention the Falklands and the oil,
Perhaps one could, in ones wildest dreams think of what she could possibly say to the world, to the islanders, to the British, and to her own people that would be on interest, taking into consideration that Argentina is committed to peaceful means,
1, Argentina will never give up it claims
2, Argentina gives up its claims
1, Argentina wants the oil
2, Argentina will talk on the oil
1, Argentina will fight to take the islands
2, Argentina will never use force on the islands
1, Argentina is willing to return to peaceful means and talk to the islanders
2, Argentina is unwilling to talk to the islanders
1, Argentina calls on south America to back her claims
2, Argentina does not want s/a to back her claims
What could she possibly say, that she has not already said before
What could she promise that she has not promised before?
We can’t wait until Tuesday, will the world change,
Will Argentina change, , hurry up Tuesday, .
I've been following this site for sometime but I feel time to post. I'm 16, I'm a kelper. If the Argies want the Falklands come and take it and see what you get. I just hope you have enough places to put your dead because we don't want any more over here!
I have been in Sea Cadets and Marine Detachment since I was 8. I plan to join the Defence Force as soon as I finish 6th form. Maybe to you I'm just a girl but I tell you now, come and see how straight I shoot. Come and find out!
There are hundreds more just like me, waiting. We've heard all the talk now come on. See how far you get!
28 Hey Andy, you are so funny that couldn´t resist to ask if your description includes USA, Australia and New Zealand.
It´s hard to talk about fascism when yourself can´t allow racial an cultural diversity.
But surely you are poor blood.
To be a Falklandero has this kind of anachronic lack of consistency.
@25 Please carry on the way you are going. Tell us. Do you plan to stay in Scotland. Will you not give us the opportunity to kill you? I want to kill you. and make no mistake. If I find you I will kill you. Without a second thought. Most especially, I will be more than happy to rip 17 inches of steel from your genitals to your throat. You have no idea how much I hate anti-British and anti-Falklands sh*tbags. Are you actually Scottish? I do hope so. I cannot wait to kick you scumbags out of the UK. I really want to peer over the border and watch you lot starve and die. In fact, I'm prepared to help. I'm prepared to travel to the border and gut shoot any Scot that gets within range. I also want to video it. There's only 5 million of you scumbags. Shouldn't take long. Is there anything better tnan 40 million bloated argie corpses? Yes there is. 5 million bloated scottish corpses. And the best thing? We can sterilise the whole northern part of OUR island.
Elaine doing her Walter Mitty trips around BA again meeting businessmen” this time.Poor woman you really are a nutjob.
Tell us were you in Santiago today?
In fact I think you could be mad enough to be Suzy as well!!!!!!!!
Ahh Conqueror my God the old witch didnt do anything for you today did she.The back the penis its all f...ed up today.
British Kirchnerist dont worry the poor man gets terribly frustrated and he gets all his violent thoughts on this site.Hes really an old geriatric in horrific pain with a wife who deprives him of any pleasure
@34Conqueror,
Mate, save your ire for the malvinistas.
Many English people are part Scots.
And we have many supporters north of the border.
Most Scots are fine upstanding citizens.
Of course there's always a fringe-group who are radicals with loony ideas.
England has them, too.
There does seem to be a higher percentage of loons in Argentina though!!
Peace, brother.♥
What President.Kirchner has done is appeal to Cameron to give peace a chance and start a dialogue. She reiterates Argentina has no interest in war but dialogue. It will be interesting to see the English response
What an Insanely thick woman and cretinous bunch of ministers prevailing in Buenos Aires at present! The daft bint says give peace a chance after herself orchestrating a continent to effectively blockade a small island population and starve them into submission! All this because she wants to pursue an anti British racist policy based on colonialism of centuries ago, and is affronted by a Prince flying a yellow search and rescue helicopter with no guns on it whatsover! Jesus, Get a life! Get a history lesson! Get a facelift! Just do something remotely useful and a little less boring than droning on about The Falklands for christ sake.
The British response will be FU. Argentina needs to stop claiming other peoples territory. The more you piss us off the more we're determined that no matter what you do, try to starve us, fight us, lie about us, abuse us, we will fight you to the last person. Every attack you launch on us, the stronger we become, the more determined we become to grow our own, source new markets, become self sufficient.
It is people like you O'Gara that make Falkland Islanders thrive, we see what you are and we're determined never to become anything like it.
No matter what, come hell or high water we are NEVER going to be under an Argentine flag, not in the 21st Century or the 22nd.
Keep ranting, keep lieing, keep insulting, keep dreaming and talking about your Malvinas and the war you lost. Because, we have better things to do.
Not wrong. That is exactly what was being reported on the Chilean news channels. Bless them, how were they to know CFKChavez had absolutely nothing of importance to say; again?
I understand that you are angry at British_Kirchnerist, I also find his approval of Argentine aggression against his own country disgusting (if he is British).
However, the scots I have met on holiday and at my work place are usually good people. I don't like Salmond or the SNP and I was pleased when our gang beat the scots at murrayfield (where there is often a racist anti - englishness by scots supporters). We are stronger together. Plenty of Scots went south in '82 to fight the real enemy.
@44Andy Mac,
Completely agree,
A one liner from Star Wars from Princess Leia comes to mind:-
The more you tighten your grip, the more Star Systems will slip through your fingers
Well we're not exactly a Star System! not yet anyway, but the principle is the same.
The harder you make it for us, the tougher we become(& hate you even more).
Lady Gaga settle down, stop pretending you have an opinion, I also see you have created yet another later ego, British kirckernerite.....what you didn't think I wouldn't notice the fact you copy and pasted changed a few words but forgot to edit the grammar in your post :)
I hate all pirates I hate you all, you are occupying our islands for 200 years before even our country existed, this is against international law and UN.
UN will look to Zimbabwe as comparison for solution to Malvinas and all you farms will be going to Argentine war vets.
@50 Thanks for being honest and admitting we were in the falklands before your country even existed. How you can have something that you have now clearly admitted was never yours in the first place, is beyond me.
I suggest you take it to the UN, they could do with a good laugh after the russian and chinese veto over Iran, which was very dissappointing for the UN.
#34 Looks like I've struck a nerve, but don't worry O'Gara frigten me - I'd be more worried if such a violent lunatic agreed with me =) But what was the site policy on abusive language again....
In fact what a contrast, the radiant Cristina calling for peace, using the words of the great British activist John Lennon(!) while a Cameronite trolls fantasizes about genocide in Argentina and Scotland =)
Though I really don't think the UN will advocate a Mugabe solution, Fillipo, and neither does Cristina!
Finally I see Princess Leia and Lady Gaga mentioned above. Cristina has elements of both, a beautiful rebel against the empire and a chic fashion icon =) What other President cold yo say THAT about hehehe?!
@54BK,
lf you think Cristina is beautiful then there is little hope for you!
l wouldn't classify her as a rebel, either.
Just an opportunist.
You want to see a rebel, you should encounter my eldest daughter!
l really do pity the man that she marries. He will have to be strong.
Mate, l think that you're a bit confused.

Feb 07th, 2012 - 02:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0British Kirchenerite lives in Scotland on our tax money, says he is British (but a lot of muslim radicals are also British) and will vote to keep Scotland in the Union (because he likes us paying for Old Salmon Face and The Hag I suspect).
Don't you wish we could send these lazy bastards to where they THINK they would be better off?
#20 The general consensus is that she is out of her depth, barking mad and that the economy is about to implode.
Feb 07th, 2012 - 05:00 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Maybe in the plutocratic circles you now say you move in thats the consensus.
Feb 07th, 2012 - 05:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@25 Just honest buisnessmen trying to support their families and contribute to the growth of Argentina. Rather than the numerous lazy state employees who work few hours and devote their energies to doing sod all. Some do not even have to turn up for work at all save to claim their pay. No country can sustain that model.

Feb 07th, 2012 - 05:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Argentines are not a real nation, their country has only existed for about 175 years.
Apollo big news, Argentina is just pissed because they lost the war of 1982. GET OVER YOUR SELFs!
Feb 07th, 2012 - 06:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It is interesting that she announces to the world of this great speech, on Tuesday, she will mention the Falklands and the oil,
Feb 07th, 2012 - 07:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Perhaps one could, in ones wildest dreams think of what she could possibly say to the world, to the islanders, to the British, and to her own people that would be on interest, taking into consideration that Argentina is committed to peaceful means,
1, Argentina will never give up it claims

In Chile they are reporting that her 'secret' announcement is about the LAN flight.
Feb 07th, 2012 - 07:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I've been following this site for sometime but I feel time to post. I'm 16, I'm a kelper. If the Argies want the Falklands come and take it and see what you get. I just hope you have enough places to put your dead because we don't want any more over here!
Feb 07th, 2012 - 07:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I have been in Sea Cadets and Marine Detachment since I was 8.
Feb 07th, 2012 - 07:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It´s hard to talk about fascism when yourself can´t allow racial an cultural diversity.

Feb 07th, 2012 - 10:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Mate, save your ire for the malvinistas.

How many times is that? that's at least 15 by my count.
Argentina once again shows she can do nothing except produce nationalist sound bytes for domestic consumption :)

What President.Kirchner has done is appeal to Cameron to give peace a chance and start a dialogue. She reiterates Argentina has no interest in war but dialogue. It will be interesting to see the English response
Feb 07th, 2012 - 11:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What an Insanely thick woman and cretinous bunch of ministers prevailing in Buenos Aires at present!

Feb 08th, 2012 - 01:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0Yawn.
Feb 08th, 2012 - 05:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0@conqueror.
Feb 08th, 2012 - 07:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0I understand that you are angry at British_Kirchnerist, I also find his approval of Argentine aggression against his own country disgusting (if he is British).
Save your anger for the Malvinistas.
@44Andy Mac,
Feb 08th, 2012 - 07:48 am - Link - Report abuse 0Completely agree,
A one liner from Star Wars from Princess Leia comes to mind:-
The more you tighten your grip, the more Star Systems will slip through your fingers
Well we're not exactly a Star System! not yet anyway, but the principle is the same.
The harder you make it for us, the tougher we become(& hate you even more).
Wow! Such a bunch of dangerous psychotics here, wanting to kill others for their different opinions. ????
Feb 08th, 2012 - 08:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0Lady Gaga settle down, stop pretending you have an opinion, I also see you have created yet another later ego, British kirckernerite.....what you didn't think I wouldn't notice the fact you copy and pasted changed a few words but forgot to edit the grammar in your post :)

Love it! l didn't think that you had a sense of humour! More please
@50 Thanks for being honest and admitting we were in the falklands before your country even existed. How you can have something that you have now clearly admitted was never yours in the first place, is beyond me.
Feb 09th, 2012 - 09:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0I suggest you take it to the UN, they could do with a good laugh after the russian and chinese veto over Iran, which was very dissappointing for the UN.
#34 Looks like I've struck a nerve, but don't worry O'Gara frigten me - I'd be more worried if such a violent lunatic agreed with me =) But what was the site policy on abusive language again....
Feb 09th, 2012 - 05:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0In fact what a contrast, the radiant Cristina calling for peace, using the words of the great British activist John Lennon(!) while a Cameronite trolls fantasizes about genocide in Argentina and Scotland =)
@54BK,
Feb 10th, 2012 - 12:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0lf you think Cristina is beautiful then there is little hope for you!
l wouldn't classify her as a rebel, either.
Just an opportunist.
You want to see a rebel, you should encounter my eldest daughter!
l really do pity the man that she marries. He will have to be strong.
Mate, l think that you're a bit confused.
