Chavez obviously thought he owned the ALBA group and that all members would be bullied into supporting him whether they chose to or not. What a surprise. I'm glad he's getting involved as he makes even CFK look clever. Does she really believe he's an ally worth having?

It was only a matter of time before the small Caribbean countries jumped ship on ALBA and CELAC ; especially when they read the small print about
'common defence arrangements.' The rumour is that Iran might be induced to sign up to make up the numbers.

Timerman: “Hi everyone, in an ironic twist of irony, I'm a bit like Joseph Goebbels insofar as you cannot trust one iota of information coming out of my mouth. That is all I have to say.”

Well, well, well. Support for the arguers and the venusians not really available in the Caribbean. Is this surprising? Not really. Can't imagine proper people supporting militaristic aliens bent on conquest!

@7 That's because the only thing standing between their current state of independence and being 'decolonised' by Venezuala is a Type 23 Frigate of Her Majesty's Navy.

@8 Just a short while before HMS Dauntless arrives. More than capable of destroying every aircraft in the argie air force and navy.

How long before one of the Argentines comes on here and says that the support of the Caribbean countries isn't important anyway?

We will soon be told that it doesn't matter because the whole world supports the RG's anyway. However, Chile is back-peddling wanting good relations with both countries. Uruguay doesn't want a blockade. So just Argentina, Venezuela and ...er...oh... Ecuador then.

However the governments of Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda urge Britain and Argentina “to comply with UN General Assembly Resolution 31/49, abstaining from adopting decisions which imply the introduction of unilateral modifications in the situation while the islands are undergoing the process recommended by the General Assembly”

@17 do you mean unilateral modifications like when you changed your constitution to outline your aggressive desires to unquestionably dominate the Falklands? or you mean unilateral modifications like when you walked out of talks with the British Government? So Argentina really has no interest in UN General Assembly Resolution 31/49 because you seem not to do anything enclosed in it.
