Vladimir Putin has declared victory in Russia's presidential elections, returning for a third term after spending the last four years as the country's PM. Exit polls and preliminary results gave him about 60% of the vote. Read full article

Not really surprising given that next to no one in Russia had heard of the alternatives. The country needs a credible opposition (a bit like the UK, ha, ha) although I'm quite sure that the up and coming Russian Revolution may well produce that person.
