    Good luck to Ushuaia with this then because I do not think KFCs mind is really on the Argentine economy. More like she is trying to ignore it and distract from it.

    Will Ushuaia declare itself a part of the Falklands? They'd probably be better off.

    Historically the Falklands have a better claim to Ushuaia than BA has to the Falklands

    Paging Mr Think,Argentine economic warefare guru

    The statements come ahead of March 8, when the Star Princess is (was) scheduled to again call in Ushuaia, but according to the local agents have not requested to dock

    @6 Why the hell would the request to dock? The Argentinians seem to have created many laws telling basically all shipping vaguely related to the UK not to dock in Ushuaia. Then they get upset that no ships request to dock.

    This does make for highly compulsive viewing.

    I've got to say watching Argentina's stack of cards fall is highly entertaining in a car crash sort of way.

    I mean its pure anarchy at all levels of government, they do not have one joined up policy.

    I have an image of Malvinero, sitting in a dirty “ i love maradonna” tshirt and what used to be white y-fronts amid a pile of empty pizza boxes and soiled tissues. On the wall there are undecipherable stains, and a dog eared poster of Susan Boyle. A light bulb swings silently over his head as he stares into his computer screen, panting heavily! White foam is dripping from his mouth into his lap.

    Surely it would be better for all cruise lines to just delete arsieland from their itineraries? If anybody REALLY wants to visit cesspits, they could leave the cruise in, say, Montevideo and travel overland. Avoiding the railways of course. And ageing argie airlines. Did you know that LAN's fleet averages 5.8 years whilst Aerolineas' is more like 15? Argies could start their own cruise line, perhaps? Sailing up and down the coast. Perhaps they could make themselves useful by doing some fishing at the same time!

    you say ”Falklands Islands (Stanley); Argentina ; a lapsus !!!!
    true always appearssssssss

    Malen, they are separated by a semi colon. To indicate the first is part of the second a comma is used. As in

    Puerto Madryn, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay;

    Or maybe you are saying Argentina is part of Montevideo.

    Mar 07th, 2012 - 04:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • Furry-Fat-Feck

    @34 Traditionally Argentina reckons Montevideo is part of Agrentina along with the rest of Uruguay, Paraguay, the whole of the River Plate Basin in fact, large tracts of Brazil, the whole of Chile and of course the Falkland Islands.

    I think it is why the rest of Latam 'support ' Argentina in their claim over the islands. If they are busting a gut over gringo territory, they aren't bothering anybody else.

    Mar 07th, 2012 - 05:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • ynsere

    35 - Furry, in my opinion your second paragraph is spot on. But Latam countries are making a mistak: if the 1982 Argentine invasion had been successful Argentina would have become increasing belligerent toward continental neighbors. It is not in Latam's long-term best interests to give in to Argentine bullying, of whatever nature.

    Dab correct
    he said: (I hate writting rules, but for you can understand) ”Falklands (Stanley);
    Argentina“
    He should have said: ”Stanley, Falklands; Puerto Madryn, Argentina”
    He forgot Puerto Madryn or Buenos Aires or whatever......y los olvidos hablan, what you forget has a reason......and the reason for me is the one I told you.
    It is the incoscious or whatever you call it.
    Argentina part of Montevideo??(also a semi comma in the middle), if he means that (another interpretation) his incoscious is very bad. :)))

  • GreekYoghurt

    @36 you're correct. If it wasn't the falklands that they were being greedy about it would be one of their other territorial claims to all their neighbours that they would be groaning on about. Sadly all their neighbours bend over as soon as they see the Argentinians, and the only one who doesn't seems to be the Falklands.

    This makes Mr. Bully very upset indeed.

    Look - Argiland GDP = 368 Billion $ and sinking
    UK GDP = 2.25 Trillion $ and rising.

    Missed this one before- so funny - Princess Cruises did not even lower themselves to bother telling Ushuaia they were not confirming but cancelling the call - they just went to Punta Arenas instead - and Chile got the business!
    The ship was not even due to call here this cruise either so unlikley any trouble in ushuaia - BUT - the cruise company has sent a very clear message to Ushuaia Govt - “piss us off and we will dump you”

    Arg was warned along these lines a few years ago by the big companies - as usual they learn it the hard way.

    Love to be within earshot of the Princess, Falklands and Ushuaia trade stands in Miami Sea Trade Exhibition this week!
