Malvinas means protecting the continent’s natural resources, says Argentine leader

Friday, March 16th 2012 - 08:10 UTC
Full article 69 comments

President Cristina Fernandez underlined the brotherhood between Argentina and Chile which she described as ‘unalterable’, particularly since both countries are now living under full democracies. She also thanked Chilean support for Argentine claim over the Malvinas and said that the sovereignty dispute has as a crucial element the need to protect the continent’s natural resources. KFC: “brotherhood of Argentina and Chile is unmoveable and unalterable” and remembered that the only moment when guns rumbled was not precisely when democracy prevailed in the two countries”.
... just after redrawing the maps so that Argentina can land-grab lots of the Southern Patagonian Ice Fields.

If that's brotherliness, then I don't want to be in her family.

“our fisheries and our oil resources” . For the correct situation substitute Falklands for “our”
For an affront to humanity substitute Argentina,
Now we see Antarctica being pulled into the picture. How much of the world does Argentina claim ?

Interesting to see that she's colonial minded enough to believe that sovereignty over the South Atlantic islands brings with it the right to establish colonial authority over territory in another continent.

I hope she's talking abut the UK as a big power. Makes a change from being rubbished as an inconsequential has-been, but she could be talking about the US I suppose.

LOL “the continent's resources”. So, those resources suddenly belong to Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, Columbia etc. ? Talk about clutching at straws. Quite pathetic.

Finally President Cristina Fernandez offered a toast to the shared challenges faced by both countries, “so as to better take advantage of global opportunities”.

I wonder what Global Oppertunities she's talking about? ( shudder ) and who is she going to take advantage of??

    I dread to think.............

“When the big powers need resources, they go after them, not matter where.”

Funny as f*“k...., 179 years ago we had more resourses than anyone.

”In the same way Malvinas has a crucial importance when the projection to Antarctica.”

At last the truth behind it's rediculous claim, Argentine colonialism & expantionism at it's finest.

The resources aren't the issue - it's just become a useful drum to beat. They don't even take advantage of the resources they have on the mainland - look at their oil industry.

It's simply about pride and wanting to reduce the falklands conflict to a battle lost in a war that they won.

There is a change coming to South America and the UK knows it.They are slowly being left out of the picture. During Thatcher´s goverment
diplomatic embassies were closed all over Latin America as it was seen as a backwater and countries with no future BUT NOW the UK is hasetely trying to increase its embassies all over South America again,as they see apotential giant rising from the ashes, like a Phoenix rising from its own ashes. And unfortunately the Falklands is standing in the UKs way to bean equal partner in this new continent.

At least now the queen of collagen has the guts to say that Argentina wants the Falklands because of the oil. All of that other bullshit about “they're historically part of Argentina, blah blah blah” was just that, crap. So, she said it. Now, if anybody thinks that Pinera would like state-run Argentinian companies controlling that oil and have to deal with them in any way, shape, or form, that person would be nuts. Pinera knows KFC can't be trusted and especially any corrupt, state-run, three ring circus that would be controlling hydrocarbon extraction in the area. Also, to think that Chileans think of themselves as brethren of the Argentinians is laughable at best.

If the fisheries, oil, Islands, sovereignty and environment already belong to Argentina, exactly what is Argentina calling for negotiations about.

Obviously annexing the Island is the first step to British Antarctic Territory, then Argentina will have two colonies to put on the list and won’t feel so left out.

We noticed how close was “brotherhood of Argentina and Chile”, during the last war.

There is no government in Malvinas, only colonial pirates who have great big hand of Britain in their backsides.

They must be removed from these islands, which belong to Argentina even before Argentina exist, it was taken from them. This and also by grace of God and Papal Bull of 1496!

In 1982 we have a much more macho government than today, we had a man in charge and no ordinary man, he was a General, from Italy, same country my grandparents came from, fleeing from British and American Imperialists after WW2 (it would take several generations and Berlusconi to put right what they did to Italy).

General Galtieri did not take no for an answer, he sent a great military force with special forces under command of our counter terrorist officers like Captain Alfredo Astiz, who is now in prison and should be freed!

These were the men who removed 50,000 left wing terrorists from our streets and delivered them into the Atlantic. We are proud that they had the guts to do what was necessary.

But today I listen to the BBC and it seems there are more left wing in our nation. I am in The Bahamas at the moment working in hotel so out of touch with my country. It seems all the strong people leave and only weak left remain.

But still there are veterans prepared to attack the police for medals for Malvinas War as they protected Patagonia from a British invasion, they deserve these medals, Police should not keep them from them.

Pirates and Anglos i hate all of you. Even here in the Bahama, have to put up with your Royal family, Prince Harry and the descendants of your Caribbean pirates some of which now Mullatos but others prefer stay white. I myself do not like. Or the children of British colonial pirates!

GO HOME BEFORE WE SEND YOU TO YOUR HOMES.

Let me get this right, the Pope gave you the Falklands in 1496, before anyone knew of their existence or before Argentina was even thought of. What else did he give you. Sovereignty of the moon ?
Let me see, I think your view of history is somewhat biased towards insanity.
Italy was screwed up under Mussolini. He tried to colonise Abyssinia the British chucked him out. He colonised Libya and had to call on help from Germany when the British chucked him out. He invaded Greece and they kicked the crap out of him until the Germans had to bail him out.
Eventually the Italian people managed to get rid of him and became a decent country again.
Gaultieri invaded a tiny country with“overwhelming force” and the British had to come 7000 miles, kick the crap out of him and send him back.
So you admire torturers and mass murderers?
Would I be wrong in thinking that you hate all British, all blacks and anyone who does not have nazi or fascist tendencies.
You hate the Bahamas so why do you not go back to Argentina. I am sure no one would miss you. By the way, why do you not voice your feelings in the Nassau Guardian, leaving your name and address I am sure you would get a sympathetic and rational response.
I detect a note of jealousy against Britain, that such a tiny little island has had such a huge beneficial on the rest of the world !

  • The Chilean perspective

About the CFK visit to Chile.
It seems that it was a waste of time for all involved.
Several proposals were signed but none had actual time tables or estimated commencement and completion dates. In in other words just hot air, a talkfest.
As for the LAN flights, there's no change as expected. Piñera, would consider stopping the flights but the Argies would have to give in on at least two issues.
Firstly, the trade barriers, nothing concrete happened on this issue just talk.
Secondly, the issue of the terrorist Galvarino Apablaza Guerra who murdered senator Jaime Guzman among many other atrocities has come to nil. He has been given political asylum by Argentina and his wife given a high ranking job in the CFK administration.
I expected that with Argentinas increasingly dire economic situation they might have sacrificed this scumbag but I was wrong.
Piñera mouthed the usual Latin American “brotherhood ” crap and so did CFK. But NO meaningful changes happened as a result of the meetings.

So, you deluded pair of twats obviously do not know the properties of titanium.

One, which suits the bipolar Mad Bitch to a treat is that it bursts into flames at only 'moderate' heat (for a metal) in the atmosphere because titanium is thermodynamically a very reactive metal.

Although strong it is not used for structures that have to retain their shape because titanium is flexible (it changes it's mind if you like).
