In addition, the foreign ministers praised Argentina’s “standing constructive attitude” to negotiate “a peaceful and definitive solution” to this “anachronistic and colonial situation taking place on American soil.”
    Amen

Marcos don't repeat crap. Argentina has no intention of negotiating - its intentions are wholly confrontational and aggressive and will lead to violence. If we win easy it will be contained in and around the Falkland islands. If we win hard it will be extended to Argentina itself. Either way we will win.
As for “anachronistic colonial situation” its actually a “self determination situation” cos the Islanders despise your respective cuntries nearly as much as we do.

I understand their reasons for supporting Argentina at the end of the day UNASUR have nothing to gain by siding with the UK but everything to lose if they do, truth be known they are scared witless to oppose Argentina or any other, Its no secret Argentina has history of punishing countrys that dare show insolence, example Uruguay had power cutoff from paraguay by CFK personally because someone dared to ask why she had arrived late to a meeting of regional countrys.
but when it all boils down UNASUR are biased and have no bearing on the Falklands.

“The British military still has control”? When did that happen?
“anachronistic and colonial situation taking place on American soil.” Basic misunderstanding! It isn't american soil.
“There can not be a single colonial enclave in South America and the Malvinas cause is one of the fairest left in this XXI century. Decolonizing Malvinas in going to be a great achievement for the independence, peace and stability of our region”, underlined Maduro. That'll be in la-la land.
No wonder south americans are feckwits!

”The ministers regretted the fact that the “de-colonialist mandate” put forward by the United Nations in successive resolutions since 1965 had still not been met and that “the British military still had control over the Islands” - tell that to Argentina whose negotiations involved invading in 1982, refusing to go to the ICJ on 4 occasions before saying the ICJ didn't have jurisdiction and walking out of negotiations in 2005

Seriously do these UNASUR people not read books? How do they get into these positions? I guess they cannot afford books or something. These Spanish speaking countries are very funny with their lack of basic education.

What is it about Spanish speaking countries and being poor and saying stupid things?

@7 Seriously, you expect these imbeciles to know about French Guyana? They're barely able to stop dribbling long enough to sign anything, in between searching all the cupboards for sweeties, wiping butter on the door handles and turning the light switches on and off repeatedly.

I doubt they even know what a book is.

    @7

what he means is that it is a great way of third world banana republics sticking it to the gringos.

These countries really have a huge inferiority complex abut colonialism, imperialism etc. they really need to move on as this finished decades ago.

they just cant see past it as though they are stuck in a serious time warp.

@9 Surely the Argentinians are Gringos to them? Given that the argies killed all the non-whites and then imported most of the exudate from Nazi-germany and italy.

Seems weird that they'd be siding with a country that essentially is the personification of everything they hate about colonialisation in South America.

As I said though, they're not very well read.

UNASUR don't support Argentina at all. What are they doing in support? Banning Falklands flagged ships? Big deal.

I support Arsenal football team but I've never been a member of their cluogle been to a single match and I watch them on free-to-air TV. So actually they get no tangible support from me whatsoever. I tell everyone I support them though. A bit like the support Argentina is getting from its neighbours.

    Chuckle chuckle.

Union of South American Nations (UNASUR)... is this the same Union that Paraguay are having trade embargo problems with exports to Argentina down by 70% and Uruguay , down by 50% ? Maybe José Mujica had better go and sit at the bottom of a well and just think this one through for a while !

Anyway, if they want to eliminate colonial enclaves why don't they all go back to Europe themselves? They have less right of settlement than we do in the area.

S American hot air and of no relevance or impact nor threat. The Islands of course are indeed the “fairest example of a colonial enclave today” - as the Venzuelan chap says - I agree with him - because we are NOT a colony any more - well said chum!
Meanwhile the Drill Bit turns offshore, the fishing season looks to be going OK, the cruise season was pretty good,Lan flies as usual,
ships steam to various S American ports as usual.
    Yup- all OK UNASUR.

@22 I prefer village cricket where you can sit on the boundary in your deck chair with a battenberg cake with egg and cress sandwiches on one hand and a pint of sun warmed bitter on the other.

@16 You're correct. The fact French Guyana is a colonial enclave on the continent and doesn't even get mentioned is just hilarious. I think the issue there is Argentinians have a genetic streak of being exceptionally greedy and riddled with avarice. They'll be demanding French Guyana as Argentinian territory after they've demanded the Antarctic and the whole of the Atlantic.

Basically, Argentina is like Shylock in the Merchants of Venice... and like Shylock it's going to have it's arse handed to it.

@4 so.... you write (and I quote):

“anachronistic and colonial situation taking place on American soil.” Basic misunderstanding! It isn't american soil.

By your omission you then accept the accusation of colonial situation.

Now you're talking. I love village cricket, county cricket and test cricket. The longer the version the better. I could talk about cricket for hours with you but we'd have to use another forum. The argentines might understandably get upset with us for going off-topic.

TBH I can't believe what I have just read.

“The British military still had control over the Islands” ?
What? totally incorrect. The Falklands Islands is self sufficient and has its own Govt who are in control. The British military are only their to protect the people that live their on their request.

'The bloc insisted the UK government renew negotiation talks with Argentina.'
Why, talk to Argentina. Only 2 possible future outcomes to the Falklands Islands.
    1) Falklands Islands remains a BOT.
    2) Falklands Islands becomes an independent nation.

@28 Last time I checked they're quite happy remaining a BOT.

@29 French Guyana is a special case because 'Argentina' is the Master and the other south american countries are 'Slaves'. The Slaves do whatever the Master tells them to do.. and given that Argentinian schools are either shut, derelict, or have so many pages missing from books because of government policy of interference in knowledge that it's quite likely no one there could draw a map of South American, yet alone know that French Guyana exists.

Also, if they talked about French Guyana they would be being knowing and consistent, which goes against their 'Policy of Ignorant Hypocrisy'

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner the current disaster president of Argentina
and the other Argentina crooks are her vice-president, Amado Boudou, he is actually an owner of the company that prints money for the government in Argentina, a major conflict of interest, but he denies it, he owns the company in the names of other friends and associates. He is being investigated and surely will end up in jail where he belongs. Cristinas 2 VERY UGLY children, Maximo and Florencia Kirchner, are also very corrupt. Maximo owns all kinds of hotels and properties adn Florencia is a film student in New York and lives in a luxury Park Avenue apartment and is known for major cocaine use. Some of us who know her in New York remember how she always used to tell us how her parents have a bank account drawn on the Nation of Argentina and for her family money is no object. These 2 corrupt children of Cristina Kirchner are self proclaimed “militants”, they belong to 2 internal terrorist groups which Cristina Kirchner finances, “La Cámpora” and “Quebracho”. “La Cámpora” goes around to the poor shantytowns around the cities in Argentina and gives the poor people a bag of groceries, a sausage sandwich called “choripan” and $20 pesos to buy their votes. These people have no choice but to accept this as they are extremely poor and have no other hope. “Quebracho” is a terrorist group which Cristina Kirchner pays to protect her, they disguise their faces and go around shaking down businesses to get money and give back to the president. They are also responsible for drug dealing, robberies and murders.
