British Foreign Secretary William Hague said he was “very concerned” at President Cristina Fernández announcement to expropriate YPF, a decision he believes “goes against all the commitments Argentina has made in the G20 to promote transparency and reduce protectionism.” Read full article

Apr 18th, 2012 - 09:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's only right to support our friends and allies. I just hope they'd remember the 3000 people of british-heritage trying to make a living in peace the South Atlantic.
Apr 18th, 2012 - 09:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0You see? this is what REAL diplomacy can achieve, not shouting out loudly to anyone who you think might listen and generally re-write history to suit your claims/ own ends.
Apr 18th, 2012 - 11:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina should learn a lesson or two about international relations from this little episode
why the hell do European companies invest in these third world toilets!! LOL
Apr 18th, 2012 - 12:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Europe’s foreign ministers will discuss the YPF situation at a meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, and are expected to issue a declaration pledging their support for Spain.
Apr 18th, 2012 - 12:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0More bad news for the plastic queen. It looks like a real possibility that all the other EU nations will be retaliating to this obvious attack on the European economy. I have doubts as to whether any company will remain in Argentina for fears of such a takeover.
Did he express concern over Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia, Chagos, etc? I don't think so. It's funny to see people so angry and not able to do anythig to stop this hahaha
Apr 18th, 2012 - 01:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@ 4 simply because it has always been the same, Europe lives thanx to this third world countries, take a look at Africa and see what's been left. Fortunately this is not Iraq.
@5 Declarations mean nothing, they're barely even worth the paper on which they are printed.
Apr 18th, 2012 - 01:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@6 We don't live thanks to third-world countries like Argentina. We live thanks the second world countries like China, and they live thanks to third world countries like Argentina.
The EU is the worlds biggest trading bloc, and you Argies have effectively just declared economic war on it.
Apr 18th, 2012 - 01:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You have also sent the clearest possible message to foreign investors: Dont do business with us, as we are an untrustworthy bunch who ignore and flout international law.
Not a clever move.
@6 - Sure they can do something about it. Block all Argentinian imports into the EU. That's bound to create some havoc for the Argentina's economy. And don't doubt that this isn't a possibility. Economically attacking a country that is financially linked to the block is an attack on the European Union itself. I sense another downgrade coming! haha

Apr 18th, 2012 - 07:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Are you some sort of triple-agent who tergiversated?
You were an American who pretended to be Argentine, making you a secret agent.
You then used the Argentine nationality cover with people here to pretend to have the right attack Argentina mercilessly, but since you are really American that would make you a double-agent.
Now, you seem to be an American who pretended to be Argentine who utilized that cover to rail against Argentina as stratagem, to gain favor with the anti-argies here, and now turning against them in the YPF cause. Triple agent.
What's the average life span of triple-agents?
#10 Maybe he's just seen the light =)
