On a free carry so topping up on the news dip. Condensate is very valuable stuff and this find is huge. The source rock is also oil prolific so i expect that oil will have been cooked and migrated to another location nearby.

Great geological result on a first drill. Proven hydrocarbon generation in the SFB.

You know what? I think you are right. Give it another hour or so and there will be a torrent of e-mails calling us “Pirates” and “Theives” and all that whining and moaning about how this find actaully belongs to Argentina, or some such rubbish.

I can see it now, on the back of this little find then comes an ill thought out and even more poorly executed “Cease and desist” order from KFC and her cronies........... Ahhhhh, happy days!! I can't wait for the response to this little find. It will provide no end of sh*ts and giggles!!!

P.S:- Great news for the Falklands Islanders, great news....... Nice one guys!!!

With the energy production problems in Argentina I wonder if they'll have to start importing Falkland hydrocarbons to keep the lights on?

If so I'd demand C.O.D. or even prepayments.

Think- who said it was a good oil find? Well excluding the Sun and you dissapoint me if you take that paper seriously! OK Marcos yes I accept that the Sun is actually on your level.

I am no expert but Common Sense and reality tells me:

First Drill in a totally new field area comes up with gas(apparently of reasonable quality so far) and evidence of oil.
Now - that is pretty good going for a first hole looking at historical averages!
It says they are in the right area - recheck the geology they have, interpret the drill results and what it tells the experts - and plan where to drill next.

Whilst this is going on they will drill their 2nd well - again in another new area.

Then FOGL get the rig for 2 drills.

Now, not sure of the rig contract time but by then we are looking at spring/summer late 2012 anyway - 2 options - either if you can raise the cash - drill more test wells nearby.
Or if rig going off anyway, plan with time and recontract another rig in a year or so depending on what the other 3 wells find.

GAS - It is also HIGH VALUE today! Just depends on how much there is and the quality - if sums add up - it will be extracted and piped to the Islands for treating and export to the market - and NOTHING Arg can do about it.
With both Oil and Gas - it is a case of economics - do the sums add up - not politics. Exactly the same as with any other Industry - just that in this one I think there are more 0,s in the figures!

41 Marcos- My understanding is that gas cannot go direct from the well to the tankers - it has to be treated/purified or whatever first - that is why it would need to be piped ashore here first. That would be COSTLY due to depth and distance(politics are irrelevant) and only a large and quality find would be worth it. Whate B&S have they do not yet know, and nor do we.
Think- those were the early “heady” days of silly hype and rumours - and losts of burnt fingers - serves them right! Desire and others have learnt since then- but the whole thing at that time was media-led so they were between a rock and a hard place over what and when to announce. LIZ has gas indeed - but nowhere near enough to be worth extracting - end of story for now.
It,s all IF just now! Lets calmly wait and see - it may be the start of a big gas find- it may not - or it may lead onto an oil find from the extra geological knowledge gained.
We dont kno - neither I nor you nor them

No worry, there's plenty to go round if you'd care to negotiate. All depends on whom do you ask…...........
If you ask the Kelpers or some of the eager investors in here, they’ll say that the confirmed value of the Oil already found is about 42 fantasyllion £…..
The Oil will be flowing directly into Supertankers in a couple of weeks, only unresolved problem being the filtering of all those bothersome small diamonds present in the oil.

If you should ask me, on the other hand……
Basically I “Think” that the whole story is kind of a hoax.
Rockhopper Exploration drilled a hole a few meters west from the position where Royal Dutch Shell found some un-commercial Oil in 1998…..
    http://www.rockhopperexploration.co.uk/exploration/falklands_oil_cube.php
And of course, they found the same Oil….. again.
From there you have the company’s “Word” on a “Great Discovery” and a lot of media hype……

I bet you cant wait though , every discover hurts the RG's
Back in the UK nobody gives a stuff if there is oil or not. its the falklanders we will not make any significant money out of it in the UK. The best thing about the discoveries are seeing the RG's crying and looking on in envy. Just 'think' if uncle nestor had not torn up the joint agreement you could of shared in the oil.

So yes we will wait and see, but a majority of UK and i would say the falklanders dont really care one way or the other. If we have oil then brilliant a bonus, but if not we still have a stable fishing industry and cruise line market in the FI. Stop slavering RG's and develop your own huge natural reserves.

Think, No we dont control media- we leave that to other nations! I suspect the control talked about for June 14th may be aimed at any from your side who may come over to try and twist the events, or maybe any UK tabloids who come to “glorify” war - they may end up excluded from some events if they dont show respect - to the fallen of BOTH sides. 14th June we commemorate and remember the price paid for our liberation. Later in the day in a pub or two we celebrate our liberation and what it has brought us - but at a high price we never forget.
Oil- yes there was indeed a load of media hype when drilling first started - we both know that, and people got fingers burnt and a company or two made rushed statements - and ended up a bit redfaced sometimes.
Nowadays it is a lot more factual. As for what it will all turn into - I think we both agree - the jury is still out and more drilling to be done.
RKH have a commercial oil find - as yet to be determined by other potential investors if it is worth extracting on its own - or needs another find somewhere(maybe we will have the answer to this one before the end of 2012?). Desire found Gas and Oil but neither commercial.
B&S have found better quality gas and shows of oil - but no idea yet if gas would be commercial on its own - a long way to go.- and 3 more holes to drill for a start.

    In short.........:

    You don't control the Media......Except...........:

    1) The media from the opposite side that doesn't comply with your particular idea of right or wrong.....

    2) The media from your own side that doesn't comply with your particular idea of right or wrong.....

    Brainwash anybody?

@60 We'll wait till the results come back from the lab before cashing in your chips. Sleep well, if you can. I will.

    You say:
“Have to make le grand entrance when invited to dine at the officer's mess, doncha know my dear, dear Think.
A shiny new Mercedes will do quite admirably.”

    I say:
    Ahhhhh.......
    I do understand now.
A shiny new Mercedes to drive out and “mess with the officers”.
Make sure you order a “Sonderklasse”, they got the largest back seats ;-)

This is great news for all of the free world...

A world without curbs on the press, retricted trade barriers and nationalization.
