I think it’s important to reflect upon the sincere goals stated by the Argentinean foreign ministry about national natural resource management policy: “The petroleum and fisheries management of the southern Atlantic sea basin is best facilitated by those most concerned about the best interests of all the inhabitants of the area. With the eventual taking of control of the Malvinas resources, the Argentine government will finally be able to prove that Argentina is committed to its Malvinas territorial inhabitants best needs and remains serious about its promises for a peaceful solution with an opportunity to improve communications and the quality of life to the Islanders. A peaceful and timely set of negotiations, need to start as soon as possible to resolve this troublesome misunderstanding exhibited by some misinformed contributers. President Cristina wants only the best for all of her national constituents including those living in the Malvinas.

What a load of old twaddle. First off we are not her constituents. Secondly I note she refers to our best interests which is vastly different to our right to self determination. When will she get it into her befuddled old head that the hydrocarbons and fish stocks that are around the Falklands are a resource that belongs to the people of the Falkland Islands, just as those in the Argetines waters belong to Argentina. We are not after your resources (even though we could certainly manage them a darn site better than they are being at the moment) and please, once and for all wake up, smell the coffee and realize that you are not steam rollering your way in and usurping ours.

Unfortunately for the Malvinenses, the Malvinas property it is NOT legally settle.I was taken by force, the population was expelled, lowering the UP flag, and raising the brits flag.Despite, the incredible number of protest, from Argentina to uk,and at least six invitation to settle the matters in a court of justice.well sorry, but it is the law.NO treaty signedwtih rgentina ceding the sovereignity..Argentina has the legal rigth to do so...if not take to the court. Can you ddo that? How come no body complains about that??
AHAHAHHAAHAHA,squatter...UN does not recognizes self determination, until the legal owners are settle. If you have a property, and the tittles are not clear...welll it is difficult to sale,or swap the property.
Isee nothing wrong,,what Argentina is doing..Just take Argentina to court and settle the matters..can you??

It's a lovely thought my my fellow squatter but what exactly are you doing or achieving ? absolutely nothing. We continue to grow and prosper and I cant see why we should want to take you to court after all we are in our own home, our own country, its for you guys to step up to the mark and step up if you wish, we are ready. As my family was here long before Argentina was Argentina maybe we do have a legal claim to some of your rather decrepit country but being magnanimous I wont come looking to usurp anything of yours.

One problem spotted. None of the companies involved is drilling in the Malvinas basin. The Malvinas basin is an area to the South West that straddles the territorial waters of the Falkland Islands and Argentina.

Regarding legal action by Argentina. Bring in on, we could do with having yet another laugh at Argentina. Chuckle Chuckle.

    Yikes can anyone say brainwashing?

“President Cristina wants only the best for all of her national constituents including those living in the Malvinas.”

How dare you insult the people of the Falkland's islands with that blasphemy, the are citizens of the Falkland's islands and have ZERO to do with Argentina.

The people are Falklander's first and British second, they are not spanish, they do not speak the language, they do not share the culture and they are not in anyway related to Argentina, neither are the lands.

As for the letters its just another cheap, pathetic attempt at bullying the companies involved.

Given the UK is backing them, I'm sure these letters have already been filed in the shredder given Argentina has zero jurisdiction in the area and its laws do not apply to the work the oil companies are doing.

Like anyone in or around the Falklands has to Jutify anything to that mad b*tch!!

But if KFC wants to humiliate herself on the international stage ( again ) then who are we to deny her that right

So go on!! Keep drilling!!! Keep prospering and being a success!! you guys down there owe nothing to anyone ( and to continue being a thorn in KFC's side is ssssoooooo amusing as well )

Malvinero - you say “Despite, the incredible number of protest, from Argentina to uk,”. The truly incredible number, if Argentina still had a valid claim after the 1850 Convention of Settlement, is zero - zero protests for about 38 years, one brief protest, then zero protests for the next 50 years or more. What is far more credible is that the claim was not valid, and had been recognised as such by Argentina.

Ho ho ho, I must have a quick lie down lest I fall down. Argentina's government is the gift that keeps on giving and posters like Chicureo @1 are clearly tuned into a different wavelength, if you want evidence of brainwashing look to such people, ignorant of history, ignorant of international law and certainly ignorant of diplomacy . Argentina has no jurisdiction over the Falklands and companies operating in its waters and her president does not have islanders rights in mind, just the votes of her sadly misguided electorate.

So what could it do? I guess it could grab assets based in its territories (which are probably zero) but that is its remit and the extent of its laws, though it might through other backward nations (Venezuela springs to mind) cause the impounding of company assets there (maybe just a little above zero).

I suspect the next announcement will a rewording of the national anthem thus:

    Hear, mortals, the sacred cry:
    “Malvinas! Oil! Gas!”

    etc etc.

The country that steals, goes to court claiming that other people are stealing from their lebensraum. They couldn't even go to court to expropriate YPF and instead chose to break the constitution.

If it wasn't so ironic, it would be a joke.

Lol what makes me laugh the most is that the argentine government broke their own constitution and not a single one of the CFK's employed muppets on here realise just how much their freedom is at risk. Once a government breaks their own constitution and are allowed to get away with it they will do it again and again and before long all argentines will be slaves to CFK.

At least am glad am in the UK where we have the right to lawful rebellion under the magna carter - Which entitles us to rebel against the state if the state tries to rule us. The magna Carter makes it clear that its the people that rule and the government and monarchy only serve the people!

Beijing, April 24 (PRCNA) – Luigi Gatti, Argentine Special Representative Liaison to the People’s Republic of China, met and had a talk in a friendly atmosphere with Vice-President Li Wuwei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Committe.
The head of the delegation offered warm congratulations to President Cristina Fernandez on her successful repatriation of YPF holdings back under rightful control of the Argentine people.
Noting that the Chinese people recollect with deep emotion the efforts made by leader Cristina Fernandez for the strengthening and development of Sino-Argentine friendship, he added that the bilateral friendship is developing as the days go by under the deep care of the supreme leaders of the two parties and the two countries. In the agreement announced, China acknowledges that the Malvinas rightfully belong to the Argentine people. The Argentinean minister present reiterated the strong fraternal alliance with China and mentioned that both the island of Formosa as well as the Tibetan regions rightfully are an undeniable part of the People’s Republic of China. He further mentioned that the Dali Llama was not welcome in Argentina and would not be granted a visa. He wished the Argentine people greater successes in the building of a thriving nation, united close behind the spirit of Justicialismo headed by President Fernandez. He expressed the will to join the Argentine and Chinese comrades together in making positive efforts to boost the friendly ties between two countries.

China Plans Shale-Gas Investment in Argentina
By Aibing Guo - Apr 26, 2012 5:36 AM AT

China, holder of the world’s biggest shale-gas reserves, plans to speed up exploration of the resource by jointly developing the newly nationalized YPF company recently nationalized by Argentina. Jointly developing the Argentina reserves will be spearheaded by PetroChina Co. which plans to invest three times the minimum amount earlier requested by the Argentine government.
The new proposed YPF management team is tentatively planning to propose seizing fields from other companies that fail to invest at least 30,000 yuan ($4,747) per square kilometer annually, Zhang Jianfeng, a director at the companie’s research institute, said in an interview today. Explorers will have three years to meet the requirement, he said.
Argentina holds 25.08 trillion cubic meters of exploitable reserves of the unconventional fuel trapped in shale rock, the company said, citing a nationwide survey. The Argentine government has pledged to prioritize land approvals, allow tax- free equipment imports and offer subsidies to explorers.
The policy “will certainly prevent companies from sitting on acreage,” Neil Beveridge, a Hong Kong-based analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., said in an e-mail.
The proposed rules will be similar to those for conventional oil and gas exploration, where the minimum annual investment requirement is set at 10,000 yuan per square kilometer, Zhang said in Beijing, while attending a two-day Shale Gas Summit organized by Centre for Management Technology.
More than 100 Chinese companies have qualified to participate in Argentina’s second auction of shale exploration area, which will likely be held before July, the official said. The Argentine government will offer at least 20 areas, he said.

@31 Interestingly the two countries aren't very different. They are both totalitarian dictatorships with a thin veil of democracy. They both have one ruling party, huge levels of corruption, claims to be socialist, and heavy controls over press freedoms. Reading both Chinese and Argentinian newspapers is a similar experience. They are both desperate for resources, and both highly expansionist, with Argentina desperate to colonise the falklands and China wanting South Tibet from India, and pretty much the entire South China Sea.

Clearly they've been discussing this move for a long time, and it only makes sense that the two would be working together on this. It's the end of investment from the west, and the start of heavy levels of Chinese investment in Argentina.

That's going to be the end to Argentina.

@3 Not bad. Didn't check too far because of your tendency to gibberish, but I counted at least 8 lies. Must do better when you're trying to talk to grown-ups.
@18 Got part of it right. Go, go. Scrofulous bitch. But you should travel. Ass-licking is best done at close quarters. Don't forget to ask the slag to exude her special “perfume”. In other words, stick your tongue right in and beg for a juicy fart. 'Rat up a drainpipe' springs to mind. You are undoubtedly a rat and her ass must be at least drainpipe-sized considering how many have been up it. You need to get out there quick before she rips 'Pepe's' dick off and it blocks your preferred brown-nose and tongue gateway.

Best thing is to consider where argieland are going to take their criminal and civil actions. Argie courts? Argie courts have no jurisdiction in British territory, i.e. Britain or the Falkland Islands. Action in UK or Falkland Islands courts. Listen for the gales of hysterical laughter. Oh, sorry, I forgot. Argieland doesn't recognise FIG. Therefore can't go to Falkland Islands courts. UK courts? Sorry, Falkland Islands courts have jurisdiction. We can't go there, we don't recognise they exist! Sort of stuffed then, aren't you? Why don't you go to the ICJ? Oh, I forgot, you don't recognise their jurisdiction.

The resources of the Falkland Islands and in its territorial waters belong to the Falkland Islanders and have absolutely nothing to do with Argentina.

Argentina can do what it wants with companies operating out of Argentina, as we have seen recently, but any claims with international courts will not have any validity. The only outcome will be another failure chalked up by CFK and her politburo.

Seems you have a short, very selective , memory. You need reminding what happened to your pathetic little navy, the last time they met up with the RN.
Try it again and your precious madam president will need a glass botttom boat to review her ships on the bottom of the South Atlantic.
You personaly, would run a f***ing mile at the first sight of a real soldier, leaving your mommy behind, to do your fighting for you. What's more . she would probably make a better job of it than you,

Yes, It most certainly was, sorry man. Nothing I like better, than venting my spleen at Malvi baby. Odious RG blogger. I think he was at Two Sisters, he was the one out front, running the fastest.

I think he mistakes RN ratings, for unharmed fishermen, going about their lawful trade in international waters. I hear the brave ARA fire warning shots across their bows, but that's only after the Captain takes a whip round from the crew to pay for the ammunition. Oh yes, he gets to keep the brass. I hear RG scrappies are paying top peso for brass.

Sorry Argentina. You try to acquire the Falkland Islands by imposing sanctions to foreign operating companies considering that Falklands are British? Is argentina asking for war? Please, do not ask , because you are going to get it.
Is Argentina after no good? Taking investments from Spain and now land fron England?

Please, be rational about it. You might end-up hurting yourself.

#32 “They both have one ruling party”

So did Britain for 65 years up to 2010, including 18 consecutive years with your party in power; you don't need a coalition to be a democracy. Argentina, like Britain and unlike China, has an opposition. China actually, like Britain and unlike Argentina, has a coalition government http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Front_(PRC) Also part of the Argentine “ruling party” the Peronist Party is in opposition, the Kirchnerist left being a faction of Peronism which has achieved ascndency with the support of the people rather than through the official party aparatus (I read somewhere that Nestor and Cristina were even expelled from the PJ for a bit in 2007!)

    “claims to be socialist”

China claims to be socialist although many doubt such claims. Argentina on the other hand does not (yet) claim to be socialist (“socialism” was never part of the language of Peronism) ye is always accused of this. I hope they do start using the S word soon, but actions speak louder than words, Chavez only came out as a socialist in 2005.

I'll give you this though, China and Argentina are similar - in both having booming economic growth =)

“So did Britain for 65 years up to 2010, including 18 consecutive years with your party in power.” That's just factually incorrect. Learn more.

“Argentina, like Britain and unlike China, has an opposition” That's just factually incorrect. They're all aligned to the same Peronist ideological block. You contradict youself when you say “Kirchnerist left being a faction of Peronism”. Learn more.

Your knowledge of china is utterly woeful if you consider the members of the CPPCC to be 'a coalition'. They are simply token parties that meet during the NPC (the communist gathering) to congratulate the communists on what a good job they're doing. They even congratulated them during the Cultural Revolution. Learn more.

You're just basically lacking basic facts, which makes me sad. I thought you were a worthy opponent.

@48 Actually, dipstick, NO-ONE recognises argie sovereignty. Quite right. We like running. Towards the pig-shit. Of whom we took more than 11,000 prisoner. Remember? That last was a mistake. Should have executed the lot. Hey, next time, eh?
@61 Hope you're “loyal” and “courageous” as well as ready to travel. Here's the future. Argieland pushes the right button. Argie population is reduced to 20 million. CFK pushes button several times to make sure it's working. 10 million. 5 million. 2 million. 1 million. CFK becomes a st. That's short for shit.

@61 Argentina has a politburo headed by CFK. Although they claim to have socialist principles they shout and scream like Nazi Comedians. Their aims are to make CFK head of state for life and do away with any semblance of democracy. They make up their own twisted rules and version of history to suit the mood of the population. They rule by going from one crisis to another always denying any responsibility for Argentinas problems and are quick to blame UK, Chile, USA, EU and any one else. They are an absolute disaster for Argentina. WAKE UP ARGENTINA!

Are you serious or just having a laugh? I can't believe that you believe that Argentine writ servers and bailiffs would be allowed to carry out their scurrilous trade in the Falklands (and who is going to take any notice of them anyway?). And really, they are not going to board Royal Navy vessels. Argentina is lashing out in the dark. Hopefully one day they will turn into a country that we would like to be friends with.

Well you brits ,obviously are too old for this.
    But the reality is that:
When asked his advice for a young person growing up in Britain, Jim Rogers, former partner of George Soros and one of the world's most successful investors, is forthright. ”Move to China; learn Chinese

I seriously doubt that there is anything that Argentina can do after the 2nd as there is too much money to be made around the islands from oil and gas. After the takeover of YPF it's going to be rather difficult to apply the diplomatic/legal high ground in any credible way to big business. As they say “you can't have it both ways”

Oh, it's the 2nd of May, time for the 'Mother of all Court Battles'! In the blue corner, all toned up and raring to go it's 'Argentina' and in the red-white-and-blue-corner the UK are in blistering form. And it's the first round with Britain landing a sledgehanner blow citing 'no juristiction' .. Argentina is out cold on the floor. Job done.
