What this article doesn't explain is why the Gibraltans care.

Spain denies that Gibraltar has any territorial waters. Despite the fact that all then-existing territories got territorial waters at the same time. Spain regularly invades British Gibraltar Territorial Waters with warships and other official vessels. These vessels also regularly obstruct law enforcement by Gibraltar authorities. Spanish fishermen poach by fishing with illegal equipment up to 225 metres from the shores of Gibraltar. They have even had armed paramilitaries (Guardia Civil) running through, and firing weapons, in the streets of Gibraltar!
May 10th, 2012 - 01:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There is NO chance of Spain being a friendly neighbour for Gibraltar. Following the recent elections, Spain is now much like argieland. Making unacceptable and unjustified claims, using untenable interpretations of law and treaties, ignoring the wishes of the population, creating unnecessary difficulties at the borders, attempting to steal Gibraltar's resources.
Should we be surprised? Well, they both come from the same stock. They both speak the same gibberish. They are both equally untrustworthy. And despite any feelings we might have about the expropriation of YPF, they are both just about equally broke. I reckon that the expropriation of YPF might be characterised as thieves falling out over the loot!
