Argentina is like a mad dog howling at the moon regarding its obsession with the Falklands ,South Georgia etc.It does not realise that the world ,and Britain in particular, has changed since the paternalistic aristocrats who closed down the British Empire ran things.
May 23rd, 2012 - 05:25 am - Link - Report abuse 0For all its failings modern Britain would never try to do a deal over the heads of the Falklanders (or Gibraltarians for that matter;ask Tony Blair). The British people would not allow it. They are the Falklanders greatest guarantee of security and self determination. Now that large amounts of Falklands oil and gas are on the horizon this double indemnifies the status quo.
As for the proverbial mad dog ;whenever I have seen that situation arise before it has always ended the same way. After putting up with the howling for a few weeks or months the neighbours get together and invariably the dog disappears; either to a remote farm in the countryside or more usually and sadly put down.
What is Argentinas fate ?
KFC simply shouts into the South Atlantic wind which usually blows her empty rhetoric back in her face

May 23rd, 2012 - 08:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0Pete Bog @3 - I wish I could agree but unfortunately the prevailing winds are generally offshore which tends to mean all RG crap comes the Falkland way....
May 23rd, 2012 - 09:51 am - Link - Report abuse 0However the great news in this Merco piece is that FOGL is ever confident and expects to make a great announcement. A further, and continuing disappointment to CFK and her cronies, esp Amb Castro.
