    @Ernie
    100.000?? I think the number is closer to 400.000
    I don’t have a problem with immigration. They come here, they work, they integrate, they do jobs that Chileans aren’t doing.
    There is low unemployment and a skill shortage – we need more immigration.
    I am please the Humala is visiting and that we are working closely with Peru and Colombia. These two countries are the future of growth within Spanish-speaking South America. Have you been to Peru recently? We own the ports, we own the malls, we own the supermarkets...all good for Chile.

    Good post, anything that gets our countries to work together is good. Its a shame that our Government is so out of control. But you guys have a good chance to work up a Pacific Coast agreement, shame Ecuador is not likely to go on-line.

    @2
    I don´t think the number is that high but the problem with them is that their country is always complaining against Chile for anything and it´s because they are tought at the schools that all of the problems they have are because of Chile so the natural consequence is to hate Chile, so nobody can understand why they like to go Chile for living. Humala is a furious nationalist and hates Chile from deep inside... and I was in Peru 2 months ago and what you say is true.... we own everything.

    The author of this news item forgot to explain what is an “historic” visit- after constant visit exchanges under different governments.

    “ Have you been to Peru recently? We own the ports, we own the malls, we own the supermarkets...all good for Chile.”

    You two must be a chilean with a big nose. I've been to Peru also and I can type that Chile does not own the ports (Airport and port of callao), keep dreaming, and the two shopping stores that's chilean are: “Saga falabella and Ripley” aka two copy cats of the store in the US like Macy's. There you go again, copy copy copy and no imagination. Same thing Chileans try to copy peruvian food. When I'm there I can always see on tv how they battle the Chileans who copy their food and drink culture. Chiliean businessmen are dominant in Peru, but seriously to type here that you own everything in Peru shows the insecurity of the regular chileans. Never understood why Chileans are so insecured.
