    Smart move have the Chinese build factories in Uruguay and import finished goods into mercosur countries and avoid the upcoming 35% tariffs for outside imports

    Guzz, Are you referring to a FTA with the US ? A standalone FTA with a single Mercosur country would most likely be problematic for other members (Brazil, Argentina) don't you think ?

    I would think Brazil but mostly Argentina would not want a Mercsur country
    To have a US FTA. Can't say much about china investment since china has invested heavily in both countries. US is focusing on brazil investment not a lot in Argentina (0nly 1 billion usd last year
