The next policy will be quotas for farmers - they will have to grow a government dictated amount of wheat or forfeit their arable land.

The farmers can't produce enough and yet CFK is promoting more Wheat export. Also read what Mr Idlehands said as well.
#11 Yes but I see it as the farmers' fault if they deliberatly produce less and am therefore with Cristina and against them, on the basis they should be feeding the people. As for the export it will earn money which can be used to buy all kinds of goods including a wider variety of foods, wheat alone wouldn't be much of a diet would it?

Somebody has to pay that export tax. Who is it? Let's say it's a Mr Farmer. So Mr Farmer's price for his wheat = % of land tax + production cost + transport costs + export tax + profit. At what point does Mr Farmer say “This is not worth the effort!” And will Mr Farmer's wheat price be competitive in the world market? So when Mr Farmer's overpriced wheat can't be sold, there are no export taxes, no money to buy all kinds of goods, Mr Farmer goes out of business and CFK buys his land at a knock-down price. And Mr Farmer probably gets enough money to pay his back taxes. Sounds like a great scam.... sorry, I meant scheme.
