The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London (FCO) is said to be concerned after receiving intelligence suggesting that Argentine authorities or proxy groups may persuade the country’s athletes to use the high profile Olympics stage to show support for their country’s claim to the Falkland Islands. “embarrassing black power salutes ” Nothing embarrassing about that just cause.

Argentines will see nothing positive coming out of making arses of themselves over trying to colonise a group of islands. CFKC has already been humiliated over that stupid advert with the athlete not even selected for the Olympics. Her antics do not travel well outside of Argentina, she would do well to shut up and stay home; and actually do a bit of work sometimes.

I’ll look forward to the arrival of Argentinian “nationalist hooligans” (Hinchadas Unidas Argentinas, according to the BA Herald), with great anticipation.

I can hear Conqueror sharpening his Kikri from hear.

Although I bet they don’t come, they don’t have the bottle for it.

It will undermine their credibility as a nation. Yet again.

Although not to their esteemed friends such as Syria, Angola, Iran, Venezuela Cuba etc.

Watch out for the release of homing pigeons, towing 'Malvinas' banners back to Argentina, so they can claim the UK under the CFK migrating bird sovereignity theory as endorsed by the C24.

    Apparently
The British have a simple choice,
1, if any argentine athlete brings the games into disrepute,
The whole argentine team, should be removed from the Olympic games, and any team that supports them , should be kicked out as well,
And guess who will be blamed for disrupting the games, and destroying the fun.

    2,
    Under the human rights act,
They should be allowed to do what ever they please, and we can do nothing about it, as this would be an abuse of there rights ,
If we cant throw out a terrorist from the UK , then it is totally impossible to turf out the Argies

30 years ago, we would have gone with number [one ]
    Today sadly
Number two supersedes all rights of the British , in favour of every body else .
    Mmmm .

    .

I REALLY want the Argentines to protest during the Olympics. What better way to bring to light the truth on a global scale.

A humiliation of CFK on a global scale would be another nail in her coffin.

    Please Cristina...protest..PLEEEASE

@2 It's a “kukri”. And it's already sharp. But I can't really take it into the street because it's around a 18 inches long.
@4 They are not a “nation”. At best they are a “country”. How can a country full of liars, cheats, thieves, genocides, murderers, deviants be called a “nation”?
@6 But with the missile batteries, the combat aircraft, the armed troops, we could shoot the lot. And who would blame us?

Let no-one forget that, once the Games people start to congregate, Olympic Charter rules can be applied. The apparent intended argie action would contravene the Charter and should be punished by disqualification of every competitor and the removal of the accreditation of every “official”. As they would have been permitted entry to the UK for a specific purpose that would no longer exist, their removal would simply be on the grounds of contravention of visa conditions.

“The Argentine Olympic Committee is said to have accepted this, and said that its athletes will not cause trouble.”

That's all well and good but the Argentine Olympic committee did not know about the war memorial desecration video being made on the Falklands and only after its release realised what had been done and attempted damage control with some limp apology.

They may have advised all the athletes not do perform any stupid stunts but who says that CFK or her cronies will not manage to convince some of them otherwise.

Basically it's wait and see and enforce the rules of the games. Any government sponsored thugs demonstrating should be deported immediately, alone with any athletes who use any event to push their campaign of lies.

If any of the athletes use the opening ceremony team parade as a political stunt, then the whole Argentine Olympic camp should be deported immediately.

If they cannot obey the simply rules of the competition, they should accept the penalties. CFK probably thinks it unfair that they cannot change the Olympic charter (unlike their own constitution) on a whim to justify their illegal actions.

@13 Non-binding decisions from the largely discredited C24 committee on decolonisation. The circus was in town recently and their attitude to the representation by the islanders was little short of scandalous. La Prez's appearance at such a junior committee was also odd don't you think?

The UN Charter enshrines the right to self determination of all people and that's the one that counts for the islanders. The rest don't amount to a hill of beans and no-one should take them seriously.

I suspect that if they are truly Olympic class athletes nothing will happen.

Such athletes train for years for a chance at Olympic Gold, or any colour of medal, and are dismissive of anything likely to harm their chances because this may be their last opportunity.

I am not too sure how they are going to get the so called Nationist Hooligans in the country. It is to be hoped for their own safety that they do not manage it. From what I have seen of these pussies on videos they will be lucky to get back on the plane in one piece if they kick-off trouble anywhere near Millwall. Very nationalistic the Millwall Football Supporters Club!

Elaine, you are a joke and travesty of fairness. You are an argie-hater.

To claim “black power” was a just cause (it is no better than white racism), is pathetic. Just retire, you officially lost it in front of everyone here (I always knew you were a bitter, sad, female-troll).

If I had any sway at immigration I would ban you fom Argentina.

No TTT, the black power salute was a justified protest against Amerian racism and imperialism, especially in 1968. The contradiction is that while Elaine seems to recognise that she buys into the mainstream demonisation of Cristina for standing up to such forces today

Two wrongs do not make a right.

Nope, African “nationalism” is an iniquity. Just as “European nationalism” was/is an iniquity. Think of all the woe, suffering, bane, and death the European nations befallen on the planet directly due to their nationalist machismo in the 19th and 20th centuries.

This is the loathing and turpitudinous line of reasoning proffered by many here about the British and “self-determination”. They conquered and subjugated millions in Africa and Asia, yet show the temerity to adduce goodness from this because ”eventually (like 150 years later)“, they vouchsafed those oppressed people ”self-determination“.

This is like me going to the home of anyone person here at gun point, force them to allow me to stay, eat food, watch tv, and use the facilities for a full week. After I do a few ”renovations“ to the place (to make their house look more like what I believe to be ”nicer“ or ”better”, ignoring what their decorations were like), I accord the owners of the home a 'vote'. I tell them they can decide whether I can stay or go.

They vote unanimously for me to go... Before I do, I tell them what a gracious man I was for confering to them the right to choose.

That's how sad, pathetic, and depraved that line of thinking is.

Fighting racism with racism is equally abominable. No buts.

You, of course, being 100% native american? Or, shock horror, are you descended from Spanish imperialist colonisers?

I'm not Spanish, thus I'm not racist. Since Spanish is racist and racist is European, ergo British is racist.

    Simply syllogism.

You seem to ignore the fact I was implicitly called a racist by DJ56. Since I made a commentary @25 which is completely rational, cogent, and grounded in facts, and DJ56 demanded I be 100% “native american”, or else I guess (why would he demand that I was if not to invoke ad hominem). Go read the comments about Argentines and Argentina in the latest news articles.

At this point you are displaying selective outrage, and it is underwhelming.

    @ 29 Truth_Telling_Troll
    Not outrage, mere observation.

Your arguments are usually more intellectual than, wood floats, so do ducks, ergo ducks are made of wood.

As for “bane, and death the European nations befallen on the planet”, you are as much a result of that as we are, unless you are 100% native Indian.

And then do you know for certain that the Indians didn’t befallen bane upon earlier inhabitants to get the land in the first place. Archaeology now strongly suggests that was the case.

Whatever the Brits may, or may not have done in the past, they are doing the right thing about the Falklands now, and for the right reasons.

Read what CFK & Co have been saying about the Brits & islanders for quite some time, now it’s getting a response.

You really are all over the place!
In #25 you rant on about nationalism and European imperialism. I did NOT accuse you of being a racist (but on reflection reserve my position on that as you seem violently anti anglo-saxon). Instead, I used irony (perhaps argentinians don't understand that concept?) to suggest that your position, as an argentinian presumably descended from spanish imperialists, is, to put it mildly, rather hypocritical. Do you not understand that?

TTT : Corrected your post for you : This is like TTT going to the home of a Falkland Islander in 1982 at gun point, force them to allow him to stay, eat food, watch tv, and use the facilities for a full 52 days . After he does a few ”renovations“ LIKE SHITTING ALL OVER THE PLACE to the place (to make their house look more like what I believe to be ”nicer“ or ”better”, ignoring what their decorations were like), I accord the owners of the home a 'vote'. I tell them they can decide whether I can stay or go. THE FALKLAND ISLANDERS DECIDED YOU COULD GO
You just don't get it , do you ? You are a product of genocidal colonisers
trying to lecture the world on the evils of colonialism , and no one is listening , least of all the Indians and meztizos of the rest of Latin America .
