What provocations, exactly? Maybe we should prove how “peaceful” we are by, I dunno, making a propaganda video about the Falklands knowing it has f-all to do with the Olympics and is only designed to cause hatred and resentment and bringing down condemnation from the Olympic committe? God forbid.
    Waste of flesh, that woman.

This should be fun. The Falklands aren't an obsession in the UK so any athlete coming all fired up for a Falklands themed Olympics will be sadly disappointed. They're more likely to end up holding a camera for a Chinese tourist.

If she expects us to act like her, she will be sorely disappointed, really unlike Argentina this isn't a national passion like it is over there. In England we like to tackle problems that affect our economy or social matters whereas in Argentina when they have problems they like to raise the Falkland's fantasy they have and pretend their problems don't exist.

    She's a shameful hypocritical liar.

Shame on her and she shames Argentina everyday she is in power.

CFK is a procrastinating hypocrit with first class honours degree in spin-doctoring. If the competitors behave it will be out of a sense of their own duty not what she says. If they misbehave then they will be perpetuating the falacies fed to them by successive Argentine governments. Provocation is not a british trait.

Unfairly I suppose, I was rather hoping KFC would order the athletes to make clowns of themselves so we could all have a laugh and send them home. Not like any of them are likely to win anything to get anywhere near a podium anyway. Last Olympics I think they finished somewhere near between Mongolia and The Congo in the medals table.

Meanwhile in the stolen lands known as Argentina

The nation’s indigenous people are calling attention to a legacy of invasion and displacement that continues to this day.

“We can’t be happy and celebrate the nation’s past 200 years as indigenous people. The indigenous people already existed here. The other, the Europeans who came here 200 years ago can celebrate. They can be happy because they have benefited from the waters, rivers, air, earth apt to produce. We are sad...

We should greet the argie “team” with all the respect they, and their country, deserve. So I suppose that the headscarves and masks, the sticks and stones, and the petrol bombs will all be on hand. I wonder if they'll need an armed police escort from the airport to the Olympic village and back? Probably best if they don't go “sight-seeing” whilst they are in Britain. Of course, anything that happens won't be in line with the policies of the British government or the majority of peaceful Britons. But every country has “violent, radical groups”.

It is absolutely derogatory and disgusting, that a disgruntled and deluded leader, should use her own hard working athletes , to put her greedy disgusting politics into sport, and thus possibly destroy the hopes of genuine Olympic hopefuls, and humiliate her own country, just to score petty points over an innocent island people,

And it is even more disgusting that some of her cohorts on here agree with her.
Its about sport not political games.

Provocation?? That botox has genuinly gone to her head, have we made an olympic video with any argenine war memorials in? No, are we trying to blockade argetntina like there doing to the falklands? no. Are we gathering support from other latim american countries to provoke the falklands? no!And hang on ... When argentina felt provoked by Prince William did they not realise that he was alrady scheduled to go to the falklands on duty beofre tensions got as bad as what they are now between tho both countries? I genuinely hope the argentine delegation dont do anything they will regret if they do try and politicise the olympics, theres only ever been 2 people who did this Hitler and CFK when the olympic video was released. If any of the delegation team choose to make any statements or anything to do with the falklands being argentine, what i will say is that your in a country of extreme tolerance but our men as much as your men died in that war , but you come to our country with your bogus claims, lies, and insult or even attempt to politicse the olympics i can only imagine what the british spectators would do. Hang your heads in shame Argentina. Does anyone know if its true that Argentine schools are told to teach the argentina geogrpahics including the falklands as argentine and not british? Again if this is true your government are investing into lies being sold to argentine's at a young age. Which again puts Argentina into the same stereotype thats already out there, That there just corrupt liars. Its a shame.

Br Kirchenerist- He was dropped form the team because the Int Olympic Committeee made a complaint about the video stunt - as did the Olyympic Committees from a number of other nations - eg S.Africa,India,Pakistan to name just 3!
He would have been barred on arrival if he was not dropped! You say the lady looks good? - I though maybe a few bats had collided with her! - still that then explains why you think CFK is beautifull!! - no accouting for taste!
And Yes - I believe there was genuine information in British hands in London that stunt(s) were to be pulled- that is why the warning went out.
Now if anyone does try something they will indeed end in hot water and tears and disgrace.

Hope we all enjoy a good high quality Sporting Olympics between ALL countries.

    Define 'Irony';

i-ro-ny (noun): A petty and corrupt government of a TPLSAC, with more similarities to Nazi Germany than the actual Neo-Nazi political parties, condemns supposed acts of colonialism by Britain and cries for justice, all the while practicing it's own colonialism and oppressing the native populations of the land that makes up Argentina.

@29 I've seen the video before and it's very sad. It's notable that these classes are mandatory. How to brainwash the kids. Very nazi. Actually, I couldn't find a single thing that the “teacher” said that was true. Since when did “Spain conquer the Islands”? Spain BOUGHT the French settlement. Then Spain forced the British settlers off using 1400 troops. Britain asked Spain if it wanted a war. By the next year, the British settlers were back, Spain returned all seized goods etc and made restitution. And what about the garbage that the Islands became argentine with independence. There has NEVER been any legal principle that authorises such action. The FACT is that Britain still claimed sovereignty and Spain admitted it. The argies were, at best, squatters. Actually, given some of the people that went there and their activities, the argies were not only squatters but pirates as well! First “argie” there, David Jewett, pirate. Then Luis Vernet, started with a British-authorised commercial venture and then descended to piracy. Looks like all argies are hereditary crooks!

I find these comments from CFK a bit rich, being as she is the one who has most gone out of her way to turn the Falklands into as much of a crises as she can.

Her statement is a fairly clumsy and ham fisted attempt to make Argentina look like victims.

It is a bit like Hitler telling a German football team (about to play in Czechoslovakia, 1938), not to be provoked by the Czechs angry about Germany's claim to the sudetanland.

Just watched that clip and I feel sick to my stomach. What a country Argentina really is lying to there own people like that. The song was a bit cringe worthy aswell ha. Even in the clip when the teacher says we inherited the islands after independence from Spain. But south America wasn't independant from Spanish rule till 1810 but wasn't it in the 1700's when we led the plaque to assert soverignty? There must just be an unwillingness to want 2 know the truth.

Argentina have always wanted something for nothing even if it means taking by force, those days are over yet typically Argentina like all selective democracies are slow to catch up. Brainwashing lies into children is a well practiced Argentine institution bordering insanity, but guarantees its government with a handy popularity tool for when its people start banging pans.

One thing I would ask of all Argentine sport persons who come to London to compete along with any Argentine Citizen who comes to watch their fellow citizens try to win Gold, silver, or Bronze is that they do not desecrate the Cenotaph that's outside my home in Whitehall, please treat it with the respect that it deserves, I don't mind you filming it but please, please if you are a sportsperson don't train anywhere near it.

@29 Thanks for sharing but wow - that's really awful.

I'd heard Argentine school texts gave a partial view of the facts, but I didn't realise the presentation of the subject was quite so nationalistic/psychologically loaded. If that video is typical I actually feel quite sorry for Argentinians...

Thinking back to history lessons at school...there was always a conscious effort to teach the circumstances, motivations, rights and wrongs of both sides in any conflict regardless of whether the UK was involved. I can remember clearly the effort that was made to explain the role of WWI reparations and the economic hardships of Germany in the rise of fascism.

I can't remember a single instance of the union flag being brought out or singing the national anthem. Of course we had a memorial in the old school hall (about 100 former pupils died in WWI, mainly with the Birmingham Pals who suffered heavily in the Somme) and a service of commemoration every year, but the idea of sticking names on a flag just makes me feel uncomfortable.

Is this video really typical of how the subject is taught in Argentina?
