    I love this bit:

““We’ve decided we will not apply any sort of economic sanctions on Paraguay because our goal is to improve the quality of life of our peoples,” she emphasised.

Translation: ”Brazil wouldn't let us impose economic sanctions.”

The Dear Leader Cristina is getting more delusional by the day. Who is she to 'summon' the rest of South America. I hope they show her the same support as they showed on 2 April this year, when none of them accepted her 'invite' to celebrate a dictatorship invading a peaceful democratic people a few hundred miles away.

And just what amazing plan is the Dear Leader Cristina going to use to 'neutralise' the global crises? Especially as Argentina is probably the worst off economically.

Maybe she'll 'demand' that other South American countries implement her amazing economic model that doing 'so well'.

Yup, Argentina it's time to get rid of the mad bint, and get her the medication and help that she needs. A nice rubber room should do it.

Amusing piece that came out today. Apparently there are a number of $100 (peso) bills which are significantly lacking in quality as compared to the others in circulation. When questioned regarding this, the Mint said that there was an obvious reason. Due to the fact that bonuses need to be paid at this time of year, they have had to print so many extra bills that, understandably, the quality of each bill has deteriorated...

' Argentine Domestic Trade Secretary, Guillermo Moreno, and Foreign Trade secretary, Beatriz Paglieri, left Buenos Aires on Sunday for Azerbaijan, heading a business delegation...... with over 200 entrepreneurs from different sectors, as well the Governor of La Rioja, Luis Beder Herrera, and deputy-secretaries from the Ministry of Agriculture and will be in Baku until July 4.'

That is a serious junket....I wonder what they are trying to flog the Azerbaijanis and if they are aware that...no.... tankers can't get from Baku to BA..

    18. Problem is the majority of the parts they need come from the USA and I am sure they are not letting them in the country.
It's a mess created by the Ks not allowing free market pricing. I am not sure how they think a company can survive on rates from 8 yrs ago when everything else is going up 30%yr?
That's why they'll have to nationalize. So THE PEOPLE will be stuck with yet another $ losing sinkhole.
Yea for Peronism the Politicos and Union bosses get richer and richer and EVERYONE ELSE GETS poorer and poorer.

    Great system they've bought into!

Did you see they the Gov't is trying to go into the land production management business, just like Venezuela and Zimbabwe have done. Do you think they've seen the outcome of that or are they just ignoring it?

Rgs are going to be very cold and hungry if they don't do something quickly to turn this around quickly.

Desperate and as usual passing the blame onto someone else.

Argentina is one of the few countries in the world that could be almost self sufficient. For example with all that sun, wind, mountain water and sparse population wheres the investment in renewable energies?! Its in a mess not because of the -crisis- in Europe and America etc or trade restrictions.

Its in mess because it is so woefully managed. CFK and her clan are pathetic malevolent greedy children who really are not fit to run a country.

Argentina needs a massive decade long crisis to wake them up otherwise it will be the same old same old.

@19 It doesn't surprise me, after all, their model requires them to have as much control in as many areas of the economy as possible thinking that, if they do, they'll be able to drive it. I suspect they know exactly what has happened in Venezuela and Zimbabwe but they think that they can do “properly”. They believe their own hype and their own figures. It just follows that they will continue down this path...

Well you would think that after 70s years of Peronism and what it has entailed - unashamedly corrupt politics and politicians, the cyclical yo yo-ing economy, massive 'villas' and widespread poverty, rich richer than ever and no 'Malvinas' etc etc that Argentines would learn. But no.

Argentines are not taught or encouraged to admit error. Its always someone elses fault. Theyre taught theres is the greatest country in the world. Thus they don't learn and the problem remains.

After 70 years of peronism, our pseudo-politicians have learnt that POWER is money in their pockets, so they thrive on a huge mass of poor people who depend on them to survive.
That is why no other political system can beat them.
Hermes Binner and his FAP are true socialists with a really coherente political platform, but recieved less than 12% of the vote, simply because they cannot beat the peronist machine which has been honed to near perfection by the Kirchners.
This is the problem with peronism, it is not an ideology it is an operating system, its only objective is the retention of POWER. It gives nothing to the people except smoke and mirrors and enough money to keep them coming back for more.
Until peronism is routed out of the Argentine body politic we will go on bouncing from crisis to crisis, getting poorer and poorer as our resources are sold off to make the politicos of the day richer, until one day we'll find that we have no more resources, nothing more to sell and no more politicos.
This is very sad but very true.

    @Simon86

Argentinians on the whole need to understand that democracy is a work in progress and just because it doesnt have a military dictatorship and people can -vote- that doesnt make it a fair and valuable democracy and so they can stop trying. There's still very heavy state and nationalist propaganda in the media, schools, 50 pesos and a sandwich for votes in the villas etc

There is a significant portion of society that sees the situation for what it really is but the question is are they willing to really fight for the fairer democracy and society they wish for?

They need to chip away and realise it will take a generation of concerted effort from many angles for the balance to shift and put Peronism behind once and for all . Rather than go directly for the heart of the powerful beast it would be better to concentrate on cutting off the channels that feed it. A thousand tiny cuts rather than one big cut.

I think one of the first steps is for the middle class to realise that Las Malvinas is a nationalism issue and thus it buys reprieve for the Peronists. One cant be nationalist and then complain about peronism. Therefore whenever the government talks about Las Malvinas the non peronist media need to highlight how the government is using the theme to manipulate and sedate the non-peronists too .

Not easy obviously to change the status quo but there is always hope!

    Look at Chile.

And thus tetchily, brr, make him an immigrant, and also should be sent home .

Your idea of history is a scratchbook of information you gathered on discovery...
The native Americans are descendants of people coming from Asia, long before the Viking reached the coasts of what is Canada today.
Even so, you really think human life in America started in the 9th century? If you don't, how would the Vikings be ancestors to the native Americans??
The Vikings didn't discover America, neither did Columbus. They were the first Europeans to know about it, but the native Americans, discovered America.

For all the other belly-buttoned complexed comments about Europe creating this or that. Europe got kicked out from virtually every country in America. The second that happened your contribution to “creation” stopped. This contribution being stealing raw materials, enslaving and killing local population, and bringing football (the most influentual ones...)

From there on, America was created by Americans, native or not.

Funny thing, Europe still today “creates” as they did 500 years ago, with only difference being that slavery became economic with time...

”From there on, America was created by Americans, native or not.“ yes but if you take us Europeans out of the mix then your beloved Uruguay would not have been created.

”Europe got kicked out” - really are you sure?, because the way I see it is we are still there. The language, culture, names, lifestyle, political systems all appear to be mostly carbon copied from us. There are two types of Colonial- the masters and the implanters, for your part the masters have left and the implanters have remained and the original natives have been lost in time. You can criticise us Europeans all you like but with out us you would not exist and neither would your beloved Uruguay.

Misuse of the term Native American.

    A number of my Brasilian friends were/are native Americans - pure bred, indigenous stock, Amazonian 'indians';
just as much Native Americans as Geronimo.

America covers two continents and a plethora of native peoples.
The USA is just one federation/country in just one of the American continents.

Sorry to be a pedant, but an Argentinian, Bolivian, Mexican, Belizean, etc, is just as much an American as a person born in the USA.

None of that makes sense and you obviously can't accept that you and your country were created by coloniailsm.

”There is ONE type of colonialist, the assassin of freedom. Master of arms and death only.“ ”Then you have the people, that kicked the colonialists out.“ No there are two and you are the implanted type that never left, you sir are of european origin, you speak a european language, and your culture is european inspired, don't you see you aren't suppose to be in South America, the natives are and they are mostly gone.

”I understand you want to take credit for our greatness, but as I told you before, you merely brought the football here, we thaught you what to do with the ball :)“
We Europeans will take credit if we had not of invaded those land by ”Master of arms and death only” then we would not have established are colonies that eventually became independent states. Football? European invention from the Kingdom of England were the rules were set, so I think you will find we gave that to you.
Yeah here’s how it worked we Europeans came we conquered, we civilised/replaced the natives, we established colonies, we then encouraged migration from all over to these colonies, these colonies then created national identities that wanted to kick us out as they saw as imperial masters ruling over them and their land.........? The last bit doesn’t make sense to me especially when the natives were subsumed, but I don’t have a problem and any native south American cant really complain and as I respect Argentina’s right to exist despite being built upon stolen lands, I would expect the same respect for the Falklands who when the British arrived were uninhabit

    Brit, etc.

I think you'll find that the initial (to-become-'indigenous') population of the Americas came from the north via an Aleutian land-bridge from Asia during the Tertiary glaciations (12,000 years ago). The mongoloid features were retained by those staying in the far North, but largely lost in the subsequent evolution of the hominids migrating ever-rapidly Southwards over the following 2,000 years.
Eric the Red landed much, much later and on the 'wrong side' for him to have derived his name from those dastardly communist hordes.

    we was not there,
and every day they are comming up with more and more things, to prove , right or wrong,

and then find something else , to prove that right [wrong]
    and wrong [right]

like eye said, history is great is it not .

    @68

I afraid you've walked straight into it BK. Pretty much every single post of yours comments on how beautiful and stunning “your Queen” is. You are always going on about how she is dressed or how stunning her make-up is. As such, it is very fair for every one to think that you have a MASSIVE crush on her and we all know men love shaking hands with the unemployed when they have a crush.

As for my support for Nestor, it is just that. Support for a previous government, the head of which is dead. If doesn't preclude me from accusing you of having a chop...

#70 “shaking hands with the unemployed”

Not heard that one before. But with your social democratic rhetoric and conservative conclusions, I could see you shaking hands with President Johnson =)

I was trying to be funny, don't worry I certainly don't want to really imagine you “having a chop”! Being less light footed now, as it clearly didn't work - I've explained to you before that my support for Cristina is political, her beauty is widely recognised by all except the haters, so I keep raising it to show how out of step and blinkered they are, and to wind them up =)

from the BA Herald.... 'President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner praised “the strength” of the Government’s model, which “keeps growing despite being in the eye of the storm.”'

Silly old tart doesn't understand what comes soon after you find yourself in 'the eye of the storm'

Don't worry BK, was just winding you up. I have to say that, to some extent, you're right about Cristina's beauty, from my point of view she is definitely amongst the most attractive Presidents Argentina have had.

#73 her beauty was recognized recently at the pig factory she opened last week. She took a first place ribbon in the Beauty and Beast contest and those dead pigs were pretty upset, they felt she rigged the win like her election.
