Pork for apples opens the way to normalize frozen Argentine/Brazilian trade

After two months of waiting, Brazil authorized the entry of apples from Argentina’s Alto Valle of Rio Negro and Neuquen. The news, which brings relief to local exporters, came after Argentina reopened its market to pork from Brazil. Read full article

    Always expected they'd get over their teething problems, unlike some of the others on here. #1 As a Brit its nice to see them make up over pork and apples, yes =)

    What none of the “funcionarios” have said is that this 2+ month hiatus in exports of fruit to Brasil has cost the “chacareros” of the Alto Valle of Río Negro and Neuquén more US$200 million.

    Most of these people are smallholders, running familly businesses, so this means ruin for a lot of them.

    I hope Pichetto et al will come up with some compensation, but I wont hold my breath!!!
