Argentina's First Division is second strongest tournament in the world after Spain, according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) July release. Read full article
Let's get real here, I criticize reports that place Argentina so poorly and I will criticize this.
I think the top 6 Premier League teams, the top 4 Calcio teams and the top 2-3 Bundesliga teams would beat the best of Primera A in a best of 10 games more than 50% of the time...
This is the real strength:
1 Spain (only because of Barcelona, otherwise it would be below the Premier)
2 England (is a more balanced league but it underperforms in int. tourneys)
3 Brazil (better league than Argentina mainly their clubs have money now)
4 Italy (diminished of late but still good)
5 Germany (not very dominant internationally but the most balanced)
6 Argentina (the big teams are not as strong as in the past, and the small teams just too small to win against the Brazilian top teams in Libertadores
7 France
8 Mexico
9 Netherlands
10 Russia
11 Portugal
12 Turkey
13 Paraguay
14 Chile
15 United States
There are many brazilian and argentinian soccer players in Mexico´s´´league, I like River Plate and Boca, but what is the best brazilian team to follow? they don´t get much publicity here but we know they are the best in the world.
