Not the sort of delegation you send to London if you don't want continued good relations. One in the face for the La Plata whore and her supposed, but non-existent, unmovable alliance against a things British.

I will bet that after all of the handshakes and the photo calls they went inside, shut the door, took a deep breath, looked each other in the eye and said, simultaneously, 'let's not talk about 'those' islands'. Then fell about laughing with relief.

Ah poor cristina, all left out in the cold. What is clear is that Turkey necks plan to turn the other South American leaders against us with her lies will only go so far and the above picture is living proof of that.

Welcome to the UK Dilma =) Though I do feel a bit embarassed at the quality of the politicians she'll be meeting, both the PM and the Labour Leader are the kind of nonentities she could eat for breakfast back home! No wonder she's arranged to meet Stephen Hawking as well, clearly a smart lady =)

#1 Of course they want continued good relations. And we need continued good relations with them. Which may be the necessary wake up call to stop constantly antagonising their entire continent for the sake of 3,000 people or alternatively the oil...

#2 I imagine they didn't mention the Islands at all this time because they wouldn't agree. But for the long term picture see above. I certainly don't expect there'd have been the sense of cammaraderie between them you suggest, they have to make nice for the Olympic handover but they're hardly soulmates are they?! Bet the Brazilian Olympics will be better too!

2 War Monkey. Well actually when we went inside we did have a bit of a laugh, over a nice informal afternoon talks where we both participated in in a few glasses of wine Dilma did bring up the problems we both face with Argentina. Dilma agreed with me about Christina when I said what a mad woman she seems to be. She took my arm patted it gently and said ! David I know exactly what you mean how I wish that Argentina along with that mad woman was somewhere else in the world instead of being in my neck of the wood, she said David if you think you have trouble with Argentina and that mad woman and her Government please David spare a thought what I have to go through every single day. Every day and at any time of day she phones me up and starts ranting and raving about how we all should stick together and David you know what I am not the only leader in that part of the world that she does that to she does it to everyone, and poor old whats is name from the UN is at his wits end night and day its unrelenting.

David she said, what kind of person does that!!!!!! I had to say to her that the only person who would do that sort of thing need to see a doctor. Dilma did confide in me that when she and Christina last met Christina did say to her that her doctor has put her on medication.

Dear me I thought this does not look healthy for that part of the world!!! a president on some kind of medication. I thought to myself, better keep an eye on this person after all someone told me that she is part German and you know what happened with a certain German leader a few years back even though he was Austrian. And there are quite a few descendents of those sort of persons down there.

Anyway Dilma and myself had a nice afternoon talking about what we are going to do and although its not been confirmed yet I can tell you all that we are working together to help one another.

    Call me Dave.

You may think that the post-Atlanta transport of athletes etc between venues is solved by Olympic-travel-lanes. Brasil's road/rail/air infrastructure is so incredibly weak and over-stretched that, even with the US & Chinese loans earmarked, chaos is likely to be extreme.

Then we have security, and again the US have provided loans, but the Brasilian context for global events militates against 'safe and secure'. The Brasilian answer is to shoot-out, this places sports-tourists at serious risk of 'lost bullets'.

Sports aside, the development of bilateral trade outside the EU/Mercosur constraints seems to be the only way forward - at least until Argentina and Chavez allow a new environment for trade-bloc activities again.

This article is missing an important issue on the talks:
“Brazil reiterates support to Argentina over Malvinas”
“It´s clear South America supports Argentina”.

Ineteresting article, Islas. A translation for our monolingual, horse-faced fellows:

“The Brazilian government has buried any hope that the UK could have to obtain Brazil's support on the Malvinas Islands issue. This Wednesday, 25, PM David Cameron used the meeting with the president to emphasize the British position regarding the disputed island. But the Brazilian didn't give him a chance to even debate the matter.

”'We let it clear that South America has a coherent position of support to Argentina', stated FM Antonio Patriota, explaining the meeting between Dilma and Cameron. According to him, both Unasurand other regional fora have given full support to the Argentinians and Dilma made it clear that Brazil doesn't intend to change its position.

“The Estado [newspaper] has concluded that the British government estimated that Brazil's interests could take into account a foreign policy going beyond the region and that, therefore, there could be speace for a dialogue with Brasília on the issue. ”Brazil can't be held hostage of this. O Brazil has global interests“, stated a British diplomat. But Dilma didn't give Cameron the chance when the subject was raised.”

    @ Islas Malvinas

We aren't missing anything. It is YOU who is missing the important point that the nature of the delegation demonstrates that any declared support is clearly of much less importance to Brazil than maintaining good relations with a stable and relatively prosperous country with which it has close economic and defence ties .. unlike the unstable, duplicitous, militaristic and bankrupt neighbour to the south.

@4 Don't be silly. Even Cameron stands head, shoulders, chest, waist and knees above the Wicked Black Widow Witch of the South. Thus he is in a proper strategic position to fart in her face. Did you not notice what a squirt she is?
@7 But “Malvinas” don't exist! Except in the delusional psychosis of certain pea-brains.
@8 It's only Round 1. Wonder how she'll “feel” by day 4. She may come to appreciate calm, reasoned, logical discussions. Thinking about it, we always did get on better with the Portuguese than with the Spaniards.

During the Olympics there will be 18 summits discussing various trade and business opportunities. It is estimated that 11billion pounds of deals will be struck. Of course, CFKC would not want to be there to get a slice of the pie for Argentine businesses, it would spoil her plan of keeping Argentines dog poor and backwards. Shame, they deserve much better.

Cameron will not be too perturbed if Brazil do not accept the Falkland Islanders right to self-determination,(as wrong as that is) as long as the countries keep trading.
Because, in the real world that Argentina denies, realistically, Brazil are never going to be stupid enough to join their armed forces with Argentina for a cause which will not benefit them. They have a lot to loose including a large part of their armed forces and lost trade with the EU which Cameron can swing.

What will get up CFK's plastic nose, big time, is the fact that even if Dilma refused to discuss the FI, she IS talking to Cameron about trade, which does not support Argentina's claim that South America are totally united behind Argentina.
If that was the case, Dilma would not be at the games and would not be meeting Cameron.
So the support for Argentina's claim is wafer thin, as is Chile's, Peru's etc etc.
In the real world Chile Brazil and other SA countries stand to win, continue/increase trade with the FIs which are more efficiently run as a country. If the Argentines ran FI as a province, left to wither on the vine, it would go bankrupt and cease to be of any financial benefit to the SA countries now trading with the Islands.

Well, but Argentina does not need the Falklands or the UK in anything whatsoever, so it matters little if the other countries decide to have relations with you. It doesn't affect us an iota and if they believe they will benefit fine. We know better.

@11 Can you remember how well the British and the Portuguese got on when we showed them how to kick the French out?
@18 You forget that the argies “don't care” about the Olympics. Makes you wonder why they attend, doesn't it?
@23 I agree. CFK is stacking up trouble for herself on a number of fronts. Internally, she has a virtually unworkable oil industry. Still trying to find people who know what they are doing and people who want to spend money on it. Trouble is that all the money sources are remembering the word “Repsol”. They will want to tie things up in such a way that CFK cannot run off with their money. Electricity generation doesn't seem to be going to well. And she's at loggerheads with the most important part of the unions. And the farmers/landowners don't seem to be too happy. Externally, the creation of the Pacific Alliance, necessarily excluding argieland, indicates the likely direction of Chile and Peru. Probably competition for mercosur. Especially from countries with little reason to look kindly on Venezuela. Paraguay could easily be anti-argie since it got stitched up. And Uruguay, especially if it gets a strong president, is stacking up its complaints. A little further away, the Falklands will be a continuing niggle. Not only are the Islanders showing no sign of being cowed, they are under British protection. Despite her protestations of peacefulness, a military option is out because British forces could remove her bathtub “navy” in a few days and actually have the whole of argieland within range. Farther away, she's upset the U.S. with the activities of Tinbrain and her failure to pay her debts, witness the American moves to block any loans. Is she on a tightrope? Why isn't she at the Olympics? She doesn't dare leave the country in case something blows up.

Sobre a terra, sobre o mar,
    Às armas, às armas!

    Contra os Bretões
    marchar, marchar!

    More anti brit rubbish,

1, the Falklands has nothing to do with brazil,
2, Brazil in fact, has no interest in the Falklands,
3, trade with the west is more important,
4, if brazil really did back CFK , they would not be in Britain,
5, if brazil wishes to join the big fellers, she must eventually drop the baggage,
6, the last thing brazil wants is trouble, with the world cup, and the next Olympics,
7 you notice, CFK has remain very quiet, over brazil and the UK .
8, you guys just wish, these things would happen,
9, its all just anti British, from jealous Argies .
10, envy is the real result of losers, it it not,

11, relax, there is nothing you guys or Argentina or CFK can do,

As for you Argies, watch it tonight,
We wont give anything away, but what’s inside the main stadium will astonish, even you louts,

Apparently CFK is very upset that she can’t be at the Olympics, sadly she put her ego before her nation,
