“Forget about Chavez, time takes care of political leaders and regimes, but countries remain”
What happened to democracy? has Mercosur become a pragmatic bloc solely based on economic opportunities? what about the people of Venezuela who has lost economic freedoms at the expenses of Chavez's socialist revolution?
What if Chavez remains in power for another ten years? will it be acceptable for a trade bloc to have dictators in their ranks? what stops them from inviting Cuba to the bloc then?

Poor old deluded, senile, dementia-ridden Pepe! One way or another, the daft old git doesn't have a lot of time left. Once Chavez has got his feet under the table, it won't be long before he decides to “restructure” things. Paraguay is a “back number”. It won't be “forgiven” because Chavez holds grudges and will want his revenge. What's left? Three sharks and a minnow. Goodbye, minnow. Best guess is that CFK will be “instructed” to “recover” it. Question is: will Pepe be allowed to go back to his farm and his Beetle? Or will he be quietly eliminated? The “sharks” are led by 3 pretty vicious leaders. Chavez has never allowed anyone to stand in his way. Rousseff is an (ex-) guerrilla and CFK is a lawyer by occupation. Goodbye, Uruguay.

Hells bells! What the devil is our nominal commander in chief of the Uruguayan armed forces doing dressed up in the uniform of a foreign nation? What rank has he been given? Couldnt make it out from the photo

United mercosur could benefit from their industries, but confronting each other will bring the food prices to an unprofitable level. If mercosur keep fighting the food industry in South America will go bankrupt. South America will always eat well. However EU and the rest of the world will have to get used to tighter austerity measures.

Poor little prat. Hasn't he noticed that argie farmers are switching from wheat to barley? Or that the soy crop is getting smaller? Or that argie meat is no longer attractive because of the contamination? Is the contamination responsible for argie psychosis? Do we care? Let''s just make sure that no argie crap gets into Britain. Whatever the EU does. Anyone want to figure how much the EU Commission cares about the people? And everyone knows how how argies essentially use poisons on their foodstuffs. European banned vetinerary drugs on livestock. European banned hormones for growth. Sprays on GM crops that poison the population. No care of industrial waste leaking into the ground water. Argie foodstuffs are POISON for normal people. We can only hope that, by refusing LatAm food crap, we can have the latinos eat it themselves. Should we hope they die? Rather them than us!

Pepe, from memory, was loaned this Venuzuelan one piece uniform becuase, as usual, he did not go correctly wrapped up on one of his visits. I thought at the time that this would come back and bite him.

In one of his 'shows' this week, he also said he had to 'swallow frogs and snakes' to deal with Argentina. Great diplomacy.

He is finished anyway with the Uruguayo population really fed up with him.

Oh! He also said the army are going to grow the ganga in the north of the country, so the plan about legalising it has not died after all.

“Is not that Venezuela is joining Mercosur: it’s Mercosur that is joining Venezuela”
(Mujica, President of Uruguay, a leading member of Mercosur.)

    Oh, I see.

This must be why he was so reluctant to be personally seen to ratify the agreement.
I guess he now has to 'talk it up'.

@9 It must be awful being so insecure that you have to abuse everyone. Are you a wog type or a coon type? Or just an ignorant, smelly argie type? My mother will undoubtedly be proud of me. She always was. Do you know who yours was? Bet you don't know who your syphilitic, drunken, psycopathic father was.
Why do you comment on something you don't care about? You don't care about uruguay. Being a typical argie thief, you no doubt want to “recover” it. But you can't really do it. Must be “difficult” being one of a population of 40 million war criminals. By all means carry on displaying what a bunch of turds you are. Just to cheer you up, every time I have a dump I have a look in the pan and am reminded of you.
@10 You're joking. An army growing ganja? How to turn an “army” into a useless bunch of drug addicts. Whose idea would that have been? CFK's?
@11 Wasn't it the 3 presidents that got together? I can just imagine the two women whining at Pepe until they got their way. “You're not leaving this room until you agree!” Mujica dare not try to hold out, on so many fronts. And next month he will be faced with bully boy Chavez as well.

We are all happy in Latin america that Uruguay welcomes Venezuela into mercosur, even if mercopress prints bias reportable deletes our comments, this move by Mujica should show all europids and US that Mercosur is united and stronger then before when Paraguay was obstructing progress, I invite europids to mind their own continent and fix it while they shoukdnstop arming terrorists in the middle east to kill Muslims women and children as they are doing in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, syria, egypt, somalia, Sudan, Congo, Sri lanka, kenia and now mali. Please stop killing Muslims. We demand it.

A good analysis from a good man. Surprised no haters on here have crowed about Argentina being overtaken, but then since its by Venezuela its all good from the pro-Latin American left perspective, and not so much from yours =)
