Uruguay’s annual consumer-price inflation dropped in July to 0.27% the lowest in 58 years, accumulating 7.48% in the last twelve months (down from 8% in June), and 4.41% in the first seven months of 2012. Read full article

    So the government, in the form of UTE, are misrepresenting the real picture which is that annual inflation should have been 8%.

    You can tell how far those in charge spin the facts by this: “we can call it a reduction of the utility rate”, said Gonzalo Casaravilla, president of UTE. No you cannot because it was a one off subsidy for the month. When this prat does it for the year I will agree with him.

    This statement rivals the one made by the industries minister if I remember correctly that praised UTE for dealing with their increased costs by putting the charges up!

    This government just don't get it!
