This is a bad choice, the whole search has been about avoiding a “Sarah Palin” disaster like last time, and now he chooses one of Palin's Tea-party followers! The Tea Party is in decline, hence Palin's own non-appearance in the Presidential race. Though i have no time at all for her politics or record, Condoleezza Rice would have been a better pick imho, as would Bobby Jindal or that Hispanic woman governor that was mentioned , or even Rob Portman although he was a bit like another Romney

2012 is the final struggle between the “old stock” predominantly of “anglo” and “anglo-celtic” ancestry - and the new reality: 2012 the majority of high school students are not multi-racial or non-white. Romney's choice is a wishful attempt to re-create the USA of the early 1950's.

#2 Yes i thought that too, the two of them together do look awfully “old fashioned” if you get my drift. Plus Ryan's already a gift to the Obama campaign in other ways too http://en.mercopress.com/2012/08/14/obama-announces-170m-dollars-emergency-support-for-scorched-farms
