    Getting near that 40% mark, and most wages only going up about 20%. The poor Argentine consumer is getting poorer from CFK's economic model.

    40% inflation AND RECESSION! That is actually really hard to do, not that CFK should be proud of this accomplishment!
    They are doomed...

    Because none of you have even the slightest understanding of argies. We will defend even the indefensible, if the choice is between the indefensible that it our own, and and untrustworthy foreigners like yourselves.

    Get it your skulls through, as long as there is even one foreigner attacking us, we won't listen. You are foreigners, after all.

    #4 That's absurd...to defend someone just because they are Argentine. I suppose by what you are saying then is you you would defend Videla and Bignone....the undefendable?
    And not all Argentines hold your philosphy, at least thankfully none that I know.

    Toby, Is playing the victim taught in school as a separate class or are you just brought up that way?

    This sound familiar?
    Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

    How the whole population has this disease is beyond me....

    true kirchner democracy right there, she is dictating what she wants her people to believe while they continue to suffer her reich lives the high! Argentina she is pulling the wool over your eyes , and you sit and take it, many people warned you for many months, Argentina will continue to crumble behind its wall of denial and lies. good riddance!

    @4 why should we understand you? you have done nothing but act childish and for a country thats appauling and unacceptable, you cry and cry when issues do not go you way. By what ive witnessed I dont want to understand you, you dont deserve anybodys understanding while you behave like complete tools.
    the last part of your comment sums it up! nobody is attacking argentina, they brought this upon themselves now reap the rewards :)))
    the genius part of it is that the UK hasnt had to do anything, because we understand argentina will do themselves enough damage and guess what, we are right.

    A little off subject but...I think CFK's hopes of getting China to invest in YPF may be wearing a bit thin. Sinopec is demanding compensation for lost revenue and has threatened to stop producing if they don't get it! I wonder where CFK is going to $180MM on short notice? Anses has run dry. Maybe she'll nationalise them too...that would be fun to watch!

    ”China Petrochemical Corp. (SNP, 600028.SH), or Sinopec Group, is so concerned about oil industry policy in Argentina that it could suspend production there, a local newspaper with close ties to the government reported Tuesday“

    Guzz, in this situation, think of ”the local newspaper with close ties to the government“ as being very similar to Pagina 12. They are a local newspaper with close ties to the government and they said that the government ”may” decide to expropriate YPF Repsol and a couple of months later it happened. This dos not mean it is definite but it is in the realms of strong probability.

    @5

    Yes that is what I'm saying. Otherwise why is it that people here accuse argentines of not thinking pragmatically and holding on to supposed “untenable” positions? We hold on to them because capitulating to foreign nations that want to cheat us out and have no desire of friendly FAIR trade with us is a worse outcome.

    @10

    To you, Argentina behaving like complete tools is basically surrendering any shred of independence and allowing ourselves to get shafted in trade and geopolitcs by the EU, UK, USA, Japan, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and China, and all the others.

    In other words, for you and everyone else here, the only time Argentina will seem reasonable to you, is when we get ZERO out of any negotiations, and when “you” get 100%. That is not friendly negotations, that is being an enemy.

    Nope, Argentina will seem reasonable when it acts like a responsible 21st century nation that can contribute something productive and positive to the world, rather than being a delinquent, thieving, lying, cheating, whining, complaining, back-stabbing, two-faced, aggressive poop-hole.

    capitulating to foreign nations that want to cheat us out ...SHEESH grow up! Can you not read the agreements you sign? Are you saying your Prez and Congress are too stupid to understand what they are agreeing to? Give me a break!
    Argentina ROUTINELY tears up contracts, treaties, agreements THAT THEY AGREED TO AND RATIFIED THROUGH CONGRESS!! Including but not limited to Bonds, Loans, Trade Agreements, Court Judgement, Fishing, and oh yeah FALKLANDS OIL AND GAS SHARING...on and on and on.
    Argentina it's rulers and it's people will be taken seriously when YOU DESERVE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. No one believes a word you say and any agreements that are signed are basically worthless.
    This type of attitude is why your country is relegated to 3rd world or Frontier status...

    Argentina needs to act like a responsible nation and not a buch of whiners, because that is all you do.
    Argentina pisses on businesses by stealing and then expects to be taken as an equal and serious.
    You bragg abut paying back 32 billion in loans yet fail to acknowledge the balance of 90 billion in defaults. Yet you want to be treated equal and serious.

    You send you ambassador in England to use ambush tactics on the FM in London, yet you want to be treated as equals and serious.

    You seize an American Air Force cargo plane that was there to assist your federal police force, yet you expect to be treated as equals and serious.

    When Argentina realizes that honey attracts bees abd kicking the nest creates a swarm, maybe they will be welcome into the neighborhood. No one is out the collapse Argentina other then Argentina itself. Argentina needs to revise their foreign policy and define their national and international goals so they can align the country's diplomatic efforts in the right direction. Appointing experienced career diplomats in top foreign relations positions and professionalizing the Foreign Service will help a great deal. Neighbor relationships that have been eroded by reckless diplomacy must be repaired and make-friends diplomacy must replace arrogant and belligerent discourse.
    Unyil then, Argentina will not be taken as an equal or serious. Argentina is it's own worst enemy.

    @17 You mean that if a psychiatrist recognises a psychopath, that makes the psychiatrist a psychopath? There's something seriously wrong with that slop between your ears. What you need to do is to get out and conduct a search. Come back and let us know if you can find more than one brain cell. We'll give you 10 years. But we won't mind if you can only find one in that time. We're not expecting you to actually find that many. What a whining little child you are. Can't have what you want so you throw your dolly out of your pram. Then you lie and cheat and steal and, worst of all, fool yourselves. You want to know what happens to countries like yours? They die. For the time being, I would reckon that the world is divided into three parts. There are those who have sussed you but still try to deal with you in a reasonable manner. There are those that have sussed you and have decided to take you for every penny they can. You won't like this but you can count places like China and Iran amongst them. They aren't philanthropists. And there are those who, fortunately, have nothing to do with you.

    The USA has the narcissim epedemic raising as is published in the US Newsweek magazine edition of 7/1//2011 and its due mostly to the economic situation US american citizens are suffering. The USA has most of all US veterans mentally ill..I see the US vets begging for food, urinating on streets and sleeping on public parks....Can you suggest any remedy such as how to improve the USA economy?
    All what I read in the Arizona Republic and USA Today is that after the election consumers are going to suffer the consequences of 12 years of bad goverment, 8 years from Bush and 4 years from “food stamps” Obama.

    28. Welsh didn't you think that hyperinflation (panic) would set in around 60% inflation? A devaluation would get you there pretty quick the chatter is already beginning so it can't be too far off now..

  • Welsh Wizard

    @29

    Indeed I did, but I'm really flying blind here. As always, if increases are incremental enough then people will accept almost anything. I suppose panic will really set in when there is a snap adjustment, a snap rise in inflation or a snap devaluation as this is when people really notice the difference in their earning power from one day to the next.

    I posted this up as I remember only a couple of months ago, you posted some similar news whereby everyday goods were subject to a circa 9% rise. To have two such similar rises in one quarter says a great deal and obviously makes a mockery of INDEC’s figures. Add this to talks of devaluation and maybe things are picking up pace. As for the magic inflation number at which panic will set in…I can’t say having never been subject to inflation going anywhere near double figures…

    Aug 23rd, 2012 - 11:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0
  • yankeeboy

    There is a panic number and I am curious what it will end up being. A devaluation is in the works, a little leak here, a little expert opinion there and viola the devaluation happens.

    I am wondering where they will peg it though. It has to be somewhere above the leak rate $6.8 to account for the delta between the gov't rate and real rate and they might as well build in some cushion so maybe $8-10?
    What that will do to inflation is beyond my comprehension! Does hyper inflation then set in immediately? Which I guess will make the devaluation worthless? Who knows! I know this wreck of a monetary policy will be studied for years! “ How to destroy a county in a decade”!

    Prince Harry works pretty hard at being a helicopter pilot, I reckon he deserves to have a bit of fun when he's on leave!!!

    But it has absolutely F all to do with “Argentina consumers’ 12-month inflation expectations reach 39.8%” which is the title of this thread's article.

    So “johnfarrel” we've reached 40% inflation, that's pretty good going for the Kretina's “modelo”, a little more effort on her part, with help from Moreno and Axel Kicilloff and we should soon be at 60%, which is IMHO yankeeboy's “panic number” then it's hi ho for the august realms of hyper-inflation, perhaps you don't remember 160%, 250% and eventually 2600%.
