I knew I had seen the name Kirchner before... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048593/

I guess she doesn't want the local police to be seeing the bag men coming and going with all that stolen loot......

Nestor in his mausoleum, smelling rather funny,
Kristina in her nice hotel counting up her money.....

Anyone care to explain the underlying meaning of this? Why is there no contact with local police - you'd think there would be coordination with the president in their midst.

One is left assuming this is about politics and that she doesn't want her movements/actions to become public knowledge. Maybe Argentine posters can enlighten us - beyond the ramblings of BK telling us how pretty she is?

@9 I would speculate that she does not want the comings and goings of her man friend observed - it doesn't sit well with her widow-woman persona - but it seems a lot of Argentines know about him.

So, it is possible she does not want recorded who she meets with and who visits her home; who she is doing deals with.

What does she have to hide? A rhetorical question I suppose. She and her family have certainly gone, if not quite from rags to riches, from moderately wealthy to extremely wealthy in a very short time under very dubious circumstances, whilst billions of $s of public funds have mysteriously gone astray.

Can anybody imagine this in the UK or any other civilised country? Any British PM would happily welcome the attention and presence of local police. Inconceivable here that a government minister would contact any constabulary instructing them to ignore the presence and activities of the Prime Minister in the region covered by its jurisdiction. The local Police would rightly tell him to get lost, he'd be pilloried and have to resign. What a bizarre country Argentina appears to be.

Well maybe the local authorities are worried that she'll steal something, so they have the local constabulary following her. They'll probably pat her down before she is allowed to leave the province.

I think Elaine is correct, it is pretty hard to play the grieving widow when you have a bunch of young men hanging around. Th rumor was the guy who mysteriously died in Montevideo at some economic summit was one of her favorites. If I had to guess I would think she would want to keep the others under wraps.

    lol, only in Argentina!
To all the Americans and Brits that say Argentina will fail this year or early next....sadly for the Argentines, I don't think they'll get that lucky. I think Cristina might actually be able to pull off a proper switch to a North Korea-like country, or Venezuela-like, where she stays in power forever, the economy just slowly sinks every year more and more, and everyone is poor, but paid the same... in rice or arepas, lol.
Don't worry about not getting your laughs, though, this is an even funnier outcome than if they collapsed entirely and then rebuilt, this is a LASTING comedy! ;D

Mercopress loves to sh!t even on the anti-argie, racist against anything argie side. I must give them credit for that.

In Argentina local police do not get involved whatsoever in the security of federal figures. They are only present in an area where a federal figuer is for keeping outsiders out of the environment or designanted area.

This is not Britain where there are no limits on police power or scope.

Tobias, this is a press release from OUR Ministerio de Seguridad, signed by Nilda Garré, it is no invented by Mercopress!!!

It is, however, understandable that the federal security agency wnts to keep tabs on the MBOA, rather than have the local police force involved, mainly because she is bi-polar and likely to do almost anything when she loses chemical balance.

You don't get it, Mercopress puts this article to create more controversy against Argentina. They are a rabidly anti-Argentine outfit but of course you will deny that. Not my fault you lack any objectivity.

Local police has never been privy to providing security to federal government figures. End of story.

They only keep outsiders out of the area that the National security tells them to guard. Capisce?

lol I wasn't trying to suggest she is running a brothel out of her home. But she does have a man whilst pretending to be the grieving widow. I suspect Nestor was a lot easier to love after his death; they used to fight something terrible by all accounts.

But more than that, she doesn't need anyone knowing who she is meeting and plotting with.

If she has nothing to hide, why even try to stop the local police from checking on her welfare?

    @26

    You people are braindead.

“Local police has never been privy to providing security to federal government figures. End of story.”

Let me educated you and the rest of you: the first rule of security is to minimize risks. The fewer people you need to be on the look out for, the more resources and attention as you have fewer targets.

“Local police” are strangers to the presidential security, and allowing them to get near a leader is a security risk, since you don't know anything about their hiring process and their practices as local departments.

This is just increible, how fucking hypocritical and brain dead some are. If I posed the question why isn't Cameron or Obama checked upon by local police... guess what??? They would say that the Secret services would not permit that for security reasons.

What don't these dims get about that? It is standard security to keep as small a group around an important person as possible to minimize infiltration and security breaches.

Argentina is a federal nation-state. As such unlike in the UK, local police forces are separate entities and do not answer directly to nationwide forces.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalism

As you can see, the vast majority of nations are not federal, usually only the larger ones where vast distances make everything going through one capital city to be cumbersome.

You are all a bunch of fucking fools. You all claim to have travelled up and down Argentina (of course I believe none of you), and how shockingly poor it is. lol

What you don't realize is how pathetic, ridiculous and doltish fools you are writing such things. If you travelled up and down the country is because there was the infraestrucutre, the cities, the economic motive for you to do so. And the fact that it was safe enough for you to do so.

You fools have no precious clue what real poverty, lack of infraestructure, and insecurity and risk to oneself is don't you?

You spit on Argentina yet you yellows woudn't dare to travel through Central America, Venezuela, the Amazon, most of Africa and the middle east, big chunks of Asia, etc, etc.

You like creature conforts and some sense of safety... you played it safe and stuck to Argentina. I understand. You are like those ungrateful immigrants that bash the country that received them. Argentina this argie that... but none of you have the guts to go to really poor and unsafe place, so you bash us.

I have to admire your persistence. It is charming. However you do realize, let the la campora supers know as well, that quoting wikipedia is like reading a comic book and claiming to be a literary classic reader.
What motivates other non south americans to write is of no concern to me. My reasons are my connections and concerns for the people that I love that are still trapped there.
As I stataed before, south america has every right to do as they please is the will of the people move them so. And if the will of the people chooses that based of real information to them. That being said, if they wish to close imports, move to a one party centralized committee for a government.....so be it. But do not expect the free world to change for you benefit. One hand washes another. All the countries that argentina has issues and take exception to have not changed to rules for argentina, rather that are now playing my argentina's rule and that is what troubles cfk the most. I believe the saying is......paying you back with the coin you used?

#1 The funny thing is that I recently found and read an old copy of a book by Frank Bettger, the father of Lyle Bettger, the actor playing the Nazi Kirchner in the film you linked to. Its a self help book for salesmen, the last kind of book the capitalists on here would associate with me, but I actually liked it...

In most threads I'd leave it there, I think the quirkiness of that true story best stands alone. But. The posts above are some of the most fevered racings I've ever seen, and cry out for a reply. TTT is probably right that this is an non-story blown out of proportion by the anti-Argies; the other possibility is that an opposition controlled police force really has been harassing the President; if some Democrat Governor had opened a local case against Bush, or a Republican Governor against Obama, would the Americans on here really think that was normal?!

And Elaine and yankeeboy, get your smears straight! Is the lovely Cristina secretly going out with one long term man, or a whole gang of toyboys (one of whom yankee insinuates she had killed)?! And does she need to pay for sex or do others pay her for it?! I really don't like even repeating such garbage, but in the distilled form I've just presented it I hope people will see it as the nonsense it is...

And as for the person who said she'd turn Argentina into North Korea, do you really think I'd support her if that were true? After apreciating Mr Bettger senior's book? =)

@35 Who are you rambling to? Have you ever even cut the apron strings ?

Just this year I was working in a very small LatAm country where 100 murders per week is the usual body count. Armed robbery, kidnapping and rape were a daily occurrence. Was it a lot more dangerous than Argentina? Yes. Was the poverty more grinding? Yes, though I had seen similar poverty in some rural parts of Argentina. I don't really see your point because crime and poverty in Argentina is still bad. It is not the WORST in LatAm by any stretch of the imagination but that doesn't make it GOOD. If someone wanted a really safe country in SoAm they would choose Chile, not Argentina.

@37 Try to read my posts if you want to clarify my position. CFKC has one chap she has been seeing for quite some time - some say even when Nestor was still alive. That is perfectly fine and normal. However, it is not normal for a woman to be wearing widow-weeds for two years after the death of her husband whilst carrying on a relationship with another man. Do you understand now? It is just another one of her falsehoods.

I would suggest to the local police force that they use unmarked cars in future.

My parents sent me to USA. Here I have to work real hard turning lots of tricks, lots of man...sometimes 15 a day. But im proud, im gonna get back to Patagonia and buy some land better than the falklands.

    BUT LETS FACE THE FACTS:
