    They can ask Fray Bentos for some spare pie tins to make it from, judging by the way the economy's going it might be your only option.

    There will be - the risk is that there will be no ice in mid summer. By mid winter you will still need your coat.

    They'd probably try to use it to be the first to break through to the south pole with an idebreaker.

    Russia, Canada, Norway and the US have legitimate Arctic claims.

    Denmark can get stuffed.

    Going by the headline, I'm not sure that this is news. Russia is building the world's biggest nuclear powered icebreaker. Yes.

    Exactly how many countries, aside from the USSR and Russia, have ever built nuclear powered icebreakers?

    @9 Englander

    The Kingdom of Denmark is made up of three constituent countries, at least one of which has a fairly good claim (Greenland)

    @9 Why has Denmark brought forth your opprobrium? They're our friends - especially in terms of FI issues.

    @10 Extremely good claim, I would say!

    I guess Greenland has a lot in common with the Falklands (except that Argentina isn't claiming it......yet!) in terms of being self governing. A sort of “DOT” (Danish Overseas Territory)

    @#3 - Idlehands - I totally agree!! Can you imagine these banana republic scientists who get paid in toilet paper a/k/a Argie pesos building anything that could be potentially dangerous? Have you ever seen what Argie kitchen appliances are like? Argie washing machines? They have the same technology as the goods they put out in the 1950s during crap head Perón´s presidency and they have like one model per city and you have to order it months in advance. And, an Argie refrigerator costs about $2000 dollars you are lucky if it goes 3 months without totally breaking down!
