These British squatters put on stamps what they used to slaughter.

Wasn't it a temporary whaling station that the Argies base their claim on anyway? Oh, the irony...

I still haven't heard any decent explanation as to why Argentina claims South Georgia and the Sandwich islands.

It's incredible to think that of all the monsters from the age of the dinosaurs not one of them came close to the size of the blue whale. I'm amazed they've survived at all if we managed to kill 29,000 in one year.

South Georgia issuing stamps? As if they were a country. They don't even have a post office. The things of colonialism. Squatter's trying to justify their illegality.

Remind us of your historical claims to South Georgia? Bound to be something to do with the Pope.

I think it's the 'job lot' approach. They want the Falklands so have just thrown SG & SSI onto the list too. It doesn't seem to be any more detailed than that.

I've never heard an argument more persuasive than “look at a map, of course it belongs to Argentina”

Latest propaganda from INDEC - Argentine inflation steady at 10%
Latest word on the street - Argentine inflation running at 25%
(Even CFK knows this and has just increased child benefit by 26%)

So if a government agency like INDEC tells lies about inflation how can any sane person expect an Argentine politician to speak tell the truth about history?

#3 I thought the British Falklands was set up as an old whaling station?

    #4&5 I agree =)

#7 When you put it that way, I agree with that too. I don't even think they have people

#9 Proximity, perhaps. Without any population to claim self-determination what in fact is the counter argument to that?

@13 '#3 I thought the British Falklands was set up as an old whaling station?'

BAS, Signy was set up in a whaling station.
Its present facilities are small but perfectly formed.

@13... #9 ... more proximate to the Falkland Islands... what is your counter argument to that???

#16 Then why are they a seperate BOT of the less proximate UK?

History and flags. History and flags.

Proximity argument: the nations of the Caribbean (including Cuba) devolve to the US, Mexico, Central American states and the northern states of South America.
Canada claims Greenland; Australia claims New Zealand
France claim, Britain, Britain claims Ireland ...
And every 'Rim' man and his dog claim the Pacific islands.

    Let's not go there,

otherwise Cuba will make a counter-claim that it owns the US and Mexico!
And Ireland will make counter-claims on Britain and France ...

    @17 Because they can....
New Guinea is proximate to Australia as is New Zealand
