    Moody's ratings are a bit hard to read. If I have it right, Argentina is currently rated at the bottom of “Highly Speculative Junk Bond”, and is in danger of being downgraded to “Substantial Risk Junk Bond”.

    That puts it two grades above “Default Immenent With Little Prospect For Recovery Junk Bond”.

    Have I got that right?

    Yes: http://www.moodys.com/researchdocumentcontentpage.aspx?docid=PBC_79004 - page 5

    It basically means that for every $1,000 you invest in Argentina you will lose $1,000

    Since they will not have the ability to sell Int'l bonds for a long long long time the rating is meaningless.

    Argieland - how do you get so much sh*te in one bucket? Argieland must be made to PAY for everyone who has suffered. Let's start with £2 million for each Falkland Islander killed in 1982. That's £6 million. Then £1 million for each British serviceman killed. That's another £255 million. Not that the lives of British servicemen are worth less. Just that they volunteered. Then another half a million pounds for each British serviceman wounded. Another £388 million. How about another £1 billion in compensation for the invasion? And another £1 billion for the minefields. And how much of that £2.65 billion has argieland paid? NOTHING!! Cowardly crooks! Is there an argie worthy of life? Not while the war debt is unpaid. EVERY argie is a WAR CRIMINAL. And EVERY argie MUST be made to PAY!! MONEY or BLOOD!

    They did leave us a couple of Pucarras and some napalm when they left. What more do you want?

    @8

    But I bet the Pucarras didn't work!

    And, I think we should send the napalm back to the Casa Rosada, just to warm TMBOA a little - mustn't melt the face!

    As they say: 'ahh! the smell of napalm in the morning'.

    LOL

    “Moody’s changes Argentina rating outlook to negative from stable”

    I wonder how they'd rate the moody cow in charge that probably has pretensions that she was born in a stable?

    He claims it is important to prevent tax evasion and money laundering - so why is Argentina in a boat with only North Korea for company??? They can't even be honest about why they are doing it.

    The owe about U$11 Billion next year. The only way for them to get it at this point is to have that much of a positive trade balance. If not they will be forced into another default. If they lose WB IDB funding it makes that number almost impossible to achieve.

    These arrogant bankers really hater Cristina because she sets policies for her people not for them, and they'll have to get used to it!

    Seems the BCRA reserves are a lot less then lead to believe. There was a total of just 500 billion in reserves (pesos) of which 16% was foreign funds......roughly 80 billion pesos or 17.4 billion DOLLARS. unfortunately 14%, 70 billion pesos...15.2 billion dollars were pegged as credit deposits.....not their money. Reality is that they only had 2.2 billion in December 2011. while they made some money in surplus, they also paid those bonds. They really have no international funds in reserves.
