Argentina doesn't need any military alliance with VeneCuba. Who they planning to go to war against? We all know Hugo woould love to have a proxy fight with his great enemy (in his mind) the US.

    That's a good one.

When I was young I had a fly-by-wire single engine plane. It's true!

It was one of those balsa kits with a glow plug engine and two wires that came out of the port wing and the operator stood in the centre of the flying circle.

Much like the only planes the Argies have got left that can fly without falling out of the sky come to think about it.

What happened to the revolutionary updated, “Pablum” training jet the Argies just announced a month ago.

It was designed and manufactured entirely in Argentina, except for a few minor generic parts, oh, AND the Ejector seats, and er, the engines, too, but except for that, a cutting edge Argentinian aircraft that should meet their military requirements right up to 1985.

The British, BKFA has a more formidale “air force”.

This helped thye UK very well in 1982-wish we had sent more down.

What's the training aircraft going to be called?

Shouldn't Argentina be developing a transport aircraft big enough to carry Maximo?

The Canadian did hold it in Feb 2010, it was broken in May 2010 by a Brit taking out two members of a Takliban machine gun team. Incredible shooting by both, round in flight for four seconds and the earth rotating a distance of more than 25 metres, now that is what I call marksmanship.

I have actually fired a Barrett 0.50 BMG single shot shoulder fired model on an Army range in the UK.

The rifle cost £6,000 and the scope £4,500 and this is going back to 2002.

Could only stand the one shot (on a bipod at that) and I had to give it back to my friend who owned it.

I had just spent several hundred pounds on dental work and the recoil was just too much of a risk. 0.338 Lapua, now that is something else :o)

Not to take anything from the shooters, but these LR shots are impossible without the range computer that accompanies the rifle. Absolute magic to use.

I'm not surprised they want a new 'training jet'. The Pampers 'training jet', the underpowered poor man's Alpha jet with bombs tied to it that Putridjelly was trying to threaten us with a few weeks ago, was a joke. Back to the drawing board amigos.

Lets not forget their other skill, field craft. It would seem that it is now probably more difficult to make a close in shot and ergress from the area, than it is to make a long range shot in comparative safety. Impressive military skills and no doubt the guys at the sharp end are very appreciative to have this kind of support backing them up.

    @20

That's true, but the real difficulty with shots much over a 1,000 m is target acquisition.

That is where your spotter comes in; he is the key to a good shot. Imagine finding a man-sized target dressed in their rags at 2,400m. The British shot came about because there was a small group of them on a ridge line (stupid sods) and the first shot missed. At that range of course you cannot even hear a 0.50 BMG single shot.

The spotter had seen the fall of shot and between them they worked out the offset. And that was it.

When the Argies took the Falklands (there are STILL no Malvinas) a trooper from the Horse Guards took along his 7.62x51 NATO Swing target rifle that he used at Bisley but fitted with a good target scope.

They came across a machine gun nest which clocked over 1,000 m and it would have been suicide to take it in the normal fashion. So they sat down to wait and sure enough one of the Argies came out to have a piss. He shot him and reloaded, sure enough one of the Argies mates came out to see what was holding him up and he shot him. The third one made the mistake of sticking his head and shoulders above the parapet and he shot him.

The next thing that happened was a white flag appeared over the parapet and the rest of the Argies surrendered to effectively, one man and his rifle.

I would imagine when he got back the Army Rifle Club would want to talk to him about regrading him!

“You lost close to 300 men in the battle field in the hands of inexperts civilian soldiers without traning . ”

“Inexpert civilian soldiers without training ”

, Is that what your army consists of?

Why different now?? Does Argentina spend more on her military now and train them better now, than when they were a military dictatorship ( not a civilian dictatorship as now)???

Ironic that this story upsets you so much :
The calculated and cool professional soldier kills three “unsuspecting innocents”, the same type of soldiers who sneak attacked an unarmed civilian population and imprisoned them, to steal their homes and land.

While you are indignant, you still seem to despise the “civilian soldiers” as incompetent. Argentina blamed them for losing the war, and did not honour their dead, nor wanted to repatriate the surviving prisoners.

Who is more incompetent, the soldiers trained by, and following orders of, the military, or the officers who deployed an unprepared, inadequate force???

You should be embarrassed, your military commanders had a month to dig in and prepare defensive positions, and you lost more men.

“Next time the soldiers will be professionals”

So, as an employee of the Argentine government, are you telling us you have plans to invade again??

Professionals and well trained like Arg. Pilots
    >>>>>

Considering the worlds experts all agreed that the argie planes flying against the harriers were far more superior,
The harriers were untried and untested,
In fact the worlds experts, [experts ha ha ]
Actually stated that they expected the argentine planes to blow the harriers from the skies,

And they did a very good job, [against the ships]
But sadly it was the British royal navy pilots flying the untried harriers, that whipped the skies of argie planes, is this not true,

Then again if it was the RAF with the jaguars or phantoms, perhaps the world’s experts would have had a different opinion,

    Still,
    The fact is,
    We won,
    Argentina lost…

In a nation with 62M people who have been lied to by Blair and the cnut Brown about multi-culturism and immigration it is sadly the case that the numbers of unhappy Brits will increase.

There are very few jobs available to Brits now because the immigrants think our minimum rate is great.

School leavers who have not really worked during their school years will shortly find that unemployment is all they will ever have.

Encouraging massive immigration masked with the euphemism of “multiculturalism” is a proper measure used by “necons” to keep down salaries, because slavery doesn’t look good anymore.

More workers, more competition among them for jobs so if an English person doesn’t want to work for a shitty salary someone else in despair will do.

No grandeur, only reality. Unasur has the need to have independent in defense industry, free from dependence on foreign sources. This is what we are seeing with this initiative. There are many combat aircraft to be replaced in the future. With Argentina, Brazil, Chile and others pooling their ideas and resources, I am sure that it can find a suitable local design for its future aircraft requirement. The RG's once had this on the Dwg Board. It was not completed since Juan Peon was overthrown. I am sure that some forms of this design would still be useful to this date. They were well on their way once, it can be done and completed in the future.

Here in Argentina we are heavily protesting the Kirchner administration, their endless corruption in every corner of the government, stealing of public funds, outright lies to the public about everything from security to the economy to official inflation figures.
Today we start a new protest in Argentina - it's called the “ANTI-KK campaña”. In our language “KK” is pronounced KaKa, and that is what we think of the Kirchner administration.
We ask all citizens against the Kirchner “KK” regime to leave a bag of excrement or bring your dog to defecate on the steps of Congress, on the steps of the Casa Rosada, or in front of the door of any office of “La Cámpora” or another militant organization of this joke of a president called “Kolina”.
Leave bags of excrement, or garbage or any other repulsive, non-dangerous item that stinks on the steps of or in front of any of these government related places. This is a peaceful protest, non-violent, and will send a strong message to the “KaKa” government that is destroying lives in Argentina.

True Brazils Aircraft Industry is impressive, but it is still years behind other industries when it comes to others. Did I not read an article on here concerning their navy developing a rocket engine for their missile defence systems? if so, that would still put them decades behind. Germany, US, UK and the USSR were at this point in the 1950's.

“With Argentina, Brazil, Chile and others pooling their ideas and resources” I am absolutely sure NOTHING will come of it.

Not only will AG want to boss the others about under their usual 'we are the best, you must listen and do as we say' approach; there is the simple job of making engines and avionics to tackle (simple as in impossible for AG).

    @BS-K

    “Exactly” - yes, very revealing.

I can only think of two reasons why they would print that point of view:

    1) The press was dramatically influenced by the “evil junta” (isn't that how RG's
    refer to them?)

    2) The Press was accurately representing the convictions of the Argentinian population.

    Which one was it??

1-“2) The Press was accurately representing the convictions of the Argentinian population.”

No media group in the world represents the convictions of any population, they only just exploit certain common human behaviours especially deep-rooted in what is known as the “Mass” to archive own goals (especially economics).

2-People tend to be lazy when comes the time to think and research and they prefer to have the “revealed truth” served in golden plate by the self-proclaimed “independent media”. Media groups know very well how to exploit that and that way they can easy manipulate public opinion.

So media publication is not the “Public Opinion Published” otherwise is “Opinions Published for the Public (Mass)” that create trends and that is a very important point for media groups to obtain revenues and obtain favours from govts.

If I have a product to sell what “media group” do you think I will choose to make my publicity campaign?

The one that tells the truth of the one that can manipulate more their audience?

Of course I will choose the MG that can manipulate and sell more crap to the public, because if they can make that, they can convince clients to buy my product even if it is shit.

Now think, how many crap have you bough thanks to media viral marketing?

Now think again if publicist and the media can turn a piece of crap into a desirable thing that people want to buy, why they will not do the same with politicians and govts?

3-Politicians relay on the trust of their natural clients (the voters) and if someone talk crap all day eroding your clients confidences in what are you selling (policies in this case) Govts. Can become a good source of ads revenues.

4- So someone want to start a on-line news press to start to get revenues from expensive ads from FI local govt? if so just call me I just have the name for company “The Independent Voice of Falkland” Independent Journalism ©. Ha ha

    Dany,
Thanks for the thorough explanation, but looks both of you could be correct.

Nice lecture about the ”Media Group“ manipulating the public to get their ”their” message across.

However, if you are saying the Media Group itself, was trying to influence the people to manipulate their actions, it's not likely.

If the MG were opposed to the Invasion, they would not dare print a negative story denouncing the actions of the Military Dictatorship - very dangerous personally, for the editors!

If the people were opposed to the Invasion, why would the Media Group write contrary editorials, or invent news coverage supporting the unpopular military action,? This might create public backlash against the Media Group.

Either the feelings of the public were reflected truthfully, or the violent, iron fist of the (evil) military junta was dictating propaganda for printing.

Either way, you cannot blame the press for the reporting.

It either truthfully reported public sentiment, or reported untruthfully only because they were dominated by a dangerous dictatorship.
