Sep 29th, 2012 - 11:28 am - Link - Report abuse 0Who knows, maybe once she'd read the truth, Ambassador Castro will realise just how much of a prat she has made out of herself over this issue.
Either that or she's rang her beloved leader, Cristina, it's all over! They actually have evidence that we are lying scumbags! They are showing it to everyone! What are we going to do?
Cristina to Castro. Errr. I know, let's tell even bigger lies! That'll work!
Good work Jan, Ian and Sukey. You do us proud.

Sep 29th, 2012 - 08:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A population of just 3,000 yet you produce such fine representative of your country, you Islanders must be justifiably proud of them. Keep up the good work and be assured of our continuing support and best wishes for your future prosperity.
Sep 30th, 2012 - 08:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0Maybe the Argentines have woken up to the reality that they are spinning in the bog on full revs, without 4WD, splashing shit everywhere all over the windscreen and moving...... nowhere.
Sep 30th, 2012 - 09:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0So now maybe Castro realises that the Rover needs to get into 4WD , and low gear after planks and bumperjack have been deployed.
And hey, here's a radical idea, let's (Argentina) actually take our heads out of the sand (wet peat bog?) and talk to the people, we are getting nowhere by ignoring.
And even if we know the game is up on our erratic claim at least we can make money for our country and gain something from the Falklands( ie £millions ) using peaceful methods by trading and offering port facilities.
Then folks, I awoke from my dream and realised that Argentina will contine to deploy 4th gear, no 4WD, and keep spinning in the bog until their Rover runs out of fuel.
English translation for my obvious metaphor=Argentina will continue not to address the problem that have created for themselves, which will multiply after the 2013 referendum.
Ahh well, the thought was nice.

Sep 30th, 2012 - 09:17 am - Link - Report abuse 0I like it. Top gear flat out in 2wd describes it well. 4wd, low range, bumper jack and boards definitely required at a minimum. Maybe even an attempt at a bridge might work in the future. Otherwise, if you can't handle the bogs maybe consider going with a guide who knows the camp and knows how to drive across it. ..and bring back some gates to have one at!
Hey guys, this costs me a lot to say, but we Argentines are known for being backstabbers - don't you know that? If you think Alicia Castro came up to your booth and acted all nicey nice because she is trying to make nice - be REALLY careful. It's like a fuzzy fluffy white cat rubbing up against a baby chick them CHOMP - the fangs right into the neck. Remember, Alicia Castro is not only Argentine, she was also Hugo Chavez' plaything for a lot of years and all those years flying in pressurized cabins of airplanes made her not only gross to look at but affected her brain. I've heard her speak at funcions here, and boy is she STOOOPID. I mean a real floozie too! Anyway Argentina will NEVER get the Falkland Islands, and they know it. Most people don't care about them anyway, it's just been drilled into us for so long by government after government, especially when things get messy here at home, they need a 'cause - you all know that. I wish the UK would invade us and take over our country, we are doomed to a future of despots demagogues and populists, we are stained by fascism and the cancer called Peronism, I wish the US or UK would invade us and turn us into a colony of your countries - please think about it, we have lots of things that your countries will need soon, plenty of land and natural resources and everything yes EVERYTHING stained by political corruption- COME SAVE US PLEASE!!

Please UK invade us we will be then called Falklandina - the first people you have to throw in the brink will be Kretina, Minimo, and Flormat Kirchner her and her sloppy kids, then take the whole cabinet of ministers and whip them publicly in the plaza de mayo then confiscate everything they have and send them to live in the Villa!

Sep 30th, 2012 - 07:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thanks for the warning but don't worry. MLA Jan Cheek is one cool operator. I've not heard anything on the grape vine about the approach and I wasn't there but I wouldn't be so sure Alicia Castro was being all sucky sucky. Jan doesn't show her hand easily and she sure wasn't born yesterday (and I don't just mean literally).
As for invading your country to save you all. Well don't hold your breath. You sound like the Argentines I know and work with. They all hate CFK. It is well known in the Falklands that a group of Argentines who come over from time to time all refer to a place just East of Stanley called Hookers Point as Cristina's Point.
very nice ha ha .

With Scandinavian ancestors?
And MLA Hansen's ancestors who first arrived on the Falklands were Danish I believe.
You need to buy a map and study geography.
Alicia must have been so bored at the Lib Dem conference, as the leader of a radical left workers party back home to be in a conference of such pathetic careerist hacks, soon to be made irrelevant by the voters. Though as a diplomat I'm sure she didn't tell them that =)
