Bob Chartoff and Lynn Hendee of Chartoff Productions announce plans for “Ice”, an epic action-adventure feature film based on the true story of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 Endurance expedition. Shackleton’s remarkable rescue of his 27 men when their ship, the Endurance, went down in the pack ice off the Antarctic coast is internationally regarded as the greatest adventure in history.     It'll need to be good to surpass “Shackleton” starring Kenneth Brannagh from a few years ago. That followed the story to the letter and was exceptionally well made. The story itself is as epic as any in history, you have to admire the man.

    NB Shackleton rescued himself - I assume the Chilean connection is the boat he used to rescue the rest from Elephant Island?

    The boat, “Yelcho”, its pilot, Piloto Pardo and the entire rescue crew, were Chilean.

    If it hadn't been for Piloto Pardo the men on Elephant island would probably never have been rescued.
