The image of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez has fallen at 25.5%, to its lowest positive, very distant from the over 54% she enjoyed last November, following her sweeping re-election, according to a public opinion poll from consultants Management & Fit released over the weekend. Interesting. A certain BK had plenty to say on other articles, but nothing to say on how unpopular his goddess is. Have they had a tiff? Is he overcome at the lack of understanding shown by the population of argieland? Is he sat behind his keyboard trying to think of how to explain that US$113 million is hardly anything. Barely enough to cover a girl's shoe bill. And what's wrong with owning a few hotels? One needs somewhere to stay when away from home. And who could care about a few little white lies? Like those about the rate of inflation, the dollar clamp, the state of the railways, the amount of poverty, the amount of public debt, the economy, corruption in public office, justice, how to start a dynasty, the Falkland Islands, everything else, everywhere else, everyone else!
Oct 01st, 2012 - 11:31 am - Link - Report abuse 0The link at the bottom of this message will take you to a video. It will show you the type of forum Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is used to speaking in. A political rally which her government organized, where she just talks about herself, all she's done for the people and gets thousands of people to clap, cheer and wave banners in her support. She's not able to hold any other type of forum. And the people attending? Who are they? Poor people who live in shantytowns (villas) as we call them, who are paid between 20-50 pesos to attend, they get served a sausage sandwich (called Choripan) and given cheap wine (that comes in cardboard packs called Tetra). Then they show this on television for days and days with all the people cheering for her to make it looks like she has all of this political support! This are true corrupt Argentine poltics.......a political forum at Harvard is way TOO much for Cristina!.......

She never lost my support and she will be president again do to lack of alternatives. You can all quote me on this, CFK will be president again do to the none existent competition. And there is nothing literally nothing anyone or any newspaper can do about it, just cry us a river as Brits usually do everyday here in mercopress. We Argentine love CFK even if the rest of the world doesn't like her because fortunately for us Argentina's Self determination is a universal right not just a privilege for the English only. Besides CFK is way less corrupt then UK, UN, WTO and IMF, we are good no need for outsiders to interfere. THANKS BUT,NO THANKS!

This one incident more than any highlights what a poor quality political operator she is. Her supporters can always argue away the mismanagement of the economy based on questionable data, but there is no getting away from the fact that at Harvard she was incapable of answering soft questions from students and resorted to insulting the questioners, certain Argentine educational establishments and the intelligence of anyone listening.
Those paranoid Argies who believe that the US/UK is out to destroy Argentina must surely question who she is playing for. She is a one-woman own-goal machine.

The bloody woman lied in her teeth with every answer she gave!!!!
Watching the action at Georgetown and Harvard made me litterally squirm with embarrassment over the incredible stone faced lying of our president. It also made me envious of the Falkland Islanders who are living in a place that:
Has 2% inflation instead of 25%.
Has no cepo cambiario.
Has almost no crime.
Has a stable currency.
Has a group of spokespersons who talk sense.
Has full democracy.
Whilst thinking about all that, I also thought that if the Falkland Islands had a railway, it would probably run on time and not kill the passangers!!!!

3) Mauricio Macri for his business acumen.

Analysis of the poll for all the Malvanistas who cannot understand the implications (Malvanistas are the trolling idiots not the likes of Simon68 and others).
Oct 01st, 2012 - 03:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0According to the poll, 15.2% of those interviewed admitted having attended the protest against the Argentine government,
When I was responsible, among other things, for the customer service department in a major white goods manufacturer we knew one thing for certain: for every one dissatisfied customer there were at least 10 others who did not bother to complain. She is getting close to 100% dissatisfaction here.
while 64.7% said they did not go out to the streets
This is clearly because they fear the crime ridden streets and lack of personal security.
and 19.4% admitted they could not go, but would have liked to participate.
This makes it more or less total dissatisfaction with some element of the government.
The problem is not knowing that reasonable people are unhappy with what is happening, that is self-evident, but what to do about it. Perhaps Simon68 is close to the answer in 15), but that would result in three presidents.
Is one President and two VP’s the answer, can the constitution allow for that?
Sorry, I was forgetting it was the Argentine Constitution - for a moment there I thought it was something that mattered.

Sadly, this is an opinion I have heard from a (small) number of Kirchneristas since arriving in Argentina. While the communist/ capitalist ideology war of the past 60 years has led to some unsavoury policies in Latin America and elsewhere, (from BOTH sides, not just the west!) there is NO HATRED for Argentina from the US or UK. (Well, perhaps abit of bad feeling when your military dictatorship invaded the territory of our citizens but thats about it. And in the past! ) There has been mistaken policy, of course, particularly on the part of the IMF in the 90s, but that wasn't hate - the IMF wanted Argentina to succeed! when they failed dramatically it was a PR catastrophe for the IMF. And please, Argentina, accept some of the responsibility for the 2001 crash! Menem was the one who implemented policies which clearly wouldnt work, and embezzled state funds on such a high scale. Menem was ARGENTINE! and not yankee or English. so dont blame the western world for everything! Cant you see that the xenephobic feeling that Kirchner is feeding in her followers is only to distract you from the mounting economic problems in the country through uniting you against a common enemy?
Why cant our countries be friends?!?!?! I love Argentina, Argentineans and the country. I DONT love the xenophobia that has emerged here in recent years. Or the crime. Or the lack of liberty my friends have to face in terms of travelling/ saving/ living.
We live in a connected world, whether you like it or not, and foreign policy based on trust is so important for Argentina's success. Why can't Cristina and her cronies work with other countries and establish relationships based on negotiation and friendship, instead of spouting mistrust and accusations for past mistakes, over and over again?

A few more food poison hysterias and a terror attacks pandemonium, and their fate will be self destructive not to mention expensive.
#43 I am sure CFK is the best thing that has happened in Argentina for the past 200 years. Not my words but the headlines of many financial newspapers not too long ago. I can only assume that corruption is a world epidemic.

Meanwhile, except American Airlines planes to fall out of the sky, that's how dire the economic crisis in the USA is.

Argieland isn't taken seriously. Look at the product of its education system. A faggot that wants to be a pirat!
Rat poison. Two words that go some way to describing argies. Lots of other words to describe argies. Few can be used in polite company. Company doesn't include argies. Scummy faggots wherever.
And here we have Prat-Cunt, a typical argie. A mindless piece of murdering scum. Just the type to murder Amerindians, shove nuns out of aircraft, rape.

The UK people certainly don't hate Argentina, on the whole they have very little opinion on the matter. They probably consider Argentina with Osvaldo Ardiles, Ricardo Villa, Maradona, Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi..more than Tinpot and Botox witch....throw in corned beef, a couple of bottles of wine and a Madonna movie...that's about it for Argentina.
What the Malvinista don't understand is the passion they hold for their (wrong) version of history, is not only met with equal steel by the uk populous, the 1982 invasion means that it will never change.
So whinging, lying, cheating, bullying...all a complete total utter waste of time.
The Islands belong to the islanders. More than 300 British and more than 600 Argentines lost their lives...just 30 years ago.
Those British servicemen did not die in vain...we will defend the rights of the islanders..your cause (misguided and false as it is) will fail.

Oct 01st, 2012 - 09:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry but your wrong, we have a great interest in our Antarctic Territory, it is Argentina that is not in a position to be any sort of a threat to British interests, for the aforementioned reason.
We have no need to change history, when the British made the history they recorded it. The British can prove beyond any doubt their claims.
As you describe it, the Argentinian claims rests upon a population implanted since 1959, when the Antarctic treaty was signed.
You forget, nothing you do while the treaty is in effect can later be used to enhance your claim.
The Claims remain as they were in 1959, when Argentina and Chile had easily the weakest (and most recent) of all claims.

You talk the talk, let’s see you walk the walk, LOL and Fucking LOL.
@64 Tobias Just letting you know that my country probably has the fairest election method in the world, and doesn't use systems like First Past the Post. It uses the Additional Member System, which ensures that the voters, well... vote, is represented by the outcome of the election. And if you are wondering what country I'm from, it's Scotland, probably one of the best places in the Western world to live. Even if we're in a 'recession', things aren't as bad as it seems. It's just fuel prices that's killing most countries. $110 for a decent barrel of Brent Crude!!!! Ridiculous. The UN should universally lower all oil prices, to make it fairer for the consumer, and stagnate corporate greed. However, that's a fantasy, as the world's run by money these days (shame). Anyway, you may speak about how the Scottish Govt is dominated by the SNP, but this is only because they are delivering on their manifested promises, and are slowly taking away the power from Westminster (thank God as they don't understand our views, and don't listen to us), and we will soon be separated.

Oct 01st, 2012 - 10:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It is statements like that where you just go off the deep end that makes you look so sophomoric.
The USA has a much more diverse population than Argentina, more diverse architecture, more diverse restaurants on and on and on and yet we still go to other countries to learn and appreciate other cultures and see new and wondrous things that we don't have here.
It's pretty hard to see the Taj Mahal and eat Indian food in Mendoza!. I think there is only 1 Indian restaurant in BA and it is expensive and awful.
Plus Architecture outside of BA is woefully lacking most of the towns look exactly like each other and have the same menus and I have been to the Patagonia “welsh” country ( doesn't look anything like wales), Bariloche( doesn't look anything like Germany), etc etc etc so you are not fooling me. I know.
Plus in a free country you would have the RIGHT to leave even if you didn't want to...
@67
Oct 01st, 2012 - 10:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The UK is of no threat to us when it comes to Antarctica. Self-determination trumps all other UN or non-UN mandates, and your sole ace is right of first discovery, which is most certainly disputable (just just the contemporary discovery of Antarctica, but the fact it was probably sighted well before that), and to top it off holds no significance in modern settlements, when there are people in the territory in question.
Since it is us with the longest uninterrupted presence (since 1904, this is admitted in writing by both the USGS and the British Historical Antarctic Study), us with the most bases, us with the first permanently habitated settlement, us with the first families, us with the first indigenous Antarctican, and us with the largest population year round (the USA surpasses us in the southern summer but is of no consequence), no British interests in the continent will be placed above those of the people there, once the treaty expires.
As the rest of your dates at utter garbage, there is no doubt you have no proper rebuttal. The Antarctic peninsula is de facto ours anyway, and never will right of first discovery win in a court. If it does, then it would open the door for massive lawsuits by natives in the Americas, Australia, Africa, etc... and no country or court will open that can of worms for some ice down there.
And by the time the treaty expires, you will be in no position to take any military action against us, since it will be recorded as a war of agression and will further bolster our claim.
You can still go to Antarctica, it will simply by under our flag.
Since the Argie trolls don't understand logic and reason, I'm not going to bother making any points with this comment.

Miami, New York, and other cities are owned by foreigners now, European and South America, San Francisco owned by the Chinese/Japanese, etc. Heck even your pissy water-beer is not even American anymore??
In the last four years most of the USA has been sold to the lowest foreign bidder.
@74 Fact is our country is more stable than yours, we have more rights, have better lives overall, and have more respect for other countries, and embrace other cultures like Asian, SOUTH AMERICAN, African and others.
Oct 01st, 2012 - 10:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0(This isn't aimed at just you).On the other hand, Argentinian people SEEM to have a long lasting hatred for European countries, and lack the education to actually realise that if it weren't for us, most of the people there wouldn't exist today. You should at least be grateful for that, but you're not. Instead, you decide to hate us, simply because we've managed to achieve things that you'll never be able to. I bet a historian could produce a list longer than the Old Testament, of all the things we've done for this world. I also find it funny how Argentinians always love to try and say that we've done nothing but brought violence to this world, alongside corruption, war and slavery. Guess what?? Dozens of nations did a lot worse before us, so get over it. Stop with all this petty squabbling, sort out the mess you've brought upon yourselves by voting in a political reject, then argue at how 'great' your nation supposedly is compared to ours.
And just for the record, gun crime's a seriously minor issue in the UK, unlike SA and even the US.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1246312/Chilcot-inquiry-Iraq-war-The-damning-verdict-Whitehall-lawyers-invading-Iraq-ministers-refused-accept.html
... Tony Blair and Jack Straw brushed aside repeated warnings from Government lawyers that they would not have a 'leg to stand on' if Britain invaded Iraq.
Devastating evidence at the Iraq inquiry yesterday revealed that every senior legal adviser at the Foreign Office believed the conflict was in breach of international law.
Astonishingly, Downing Street asked lawyers to assess what the consequences would be if Britain toppled Saddam Hussein without legal authority. When they received the lawyers' memo, No.10 demanded: 'Why has this been put in writing?'
Sir Michael Wood, then the Foreign Office's senior legal adviser, warned ministers again and again that to go to war without approval from a UN Security Council resolution would constitute a 'crime of aggression' in international law.
He told them it risked turning into a foreign policy disaster on the scale of Britain's ill-fated invasion of Suez in 1956.
Less than two months before the Iraq War began in 2003, Sir Michael told ministers there was 'no doubt' that Britain could not lawfully use force against Iraq because it could not claim it was acting in self-defence, that it was trying to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe or that it had the authorisation of the UN...
I've never argued greatness of my country compared to anyone. Please by all means show me where I've said my country did this yours didn't. I only remind you all of the uncomfortable truth, that you are liar and hypocrites when talking shit about Argentina's international misdeeds, when your countries are full of them, to a scale far beyond Argentina's, in both recent and most certainly the past. With and extra 800 years of mistakes.

@79 Tobias you claim to call yourself intelligent, but you cannot read and understand a simple post. That just throws it all out the window if you struggle with such things. I can tell you 100% your country is less than 5 years from an economic collapse, just like every other country. Ours is suffering from a recession. But, since we're not part of the eurozone, we're not nearly as bad as the rest of the membership bloc.
Oct 01st, 2012 - 11:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Also if you read my statement, I put into brackets 'not just aimed at you'. I could've made it a little clearer, that it's more to do with the other Argie posters who love to post about the country's 'greatness'. E.g PirateHunter, 2012.
You came up with 'evidence' to disprove my argument about respect for other cultures, however you fail to realise that the politicians do not represent the opinions and views of the British majority, who are indeed multicultural and have been for many years, unlike the xenophobic society. I will point out that so far from all the Argentinians I have personally met, which is quite a lot, I got this impression from them.
Also, the facts tell that even in a worst case scenario, Britain would still be better off by a long shot than any SA country. Any person who has a knack for statistics, and a neutral state of mind, would back this statement.
Finally, no-one can argue with a person like yourself, because YOU, not us, are far from the truth that your country is one stone's throw away from being permanently fucked, which I DON'T want to see happen.
Please read my future posts more carefully before commenting on something that's irrelevant from my point.

Mr Menezes was mistaken for someone else, and was shot dead. Nothing to do with racism, and that happens all the time. Just a case of misidentidication.
I don't know if you are talking about the 2011 riots, but they were caused by the death of Mark Duggan, who was shot dead by ARVs for being allegedly possessing a weapon. Duggan lived in a rough area, where reports of violence comes up weekly, sometimes guns. Again, not racism, but the police were at fault for that for poor decision-making.

Oct 02nd, 2012 - 12:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0Please spare me further ennui. Bottom line, if contributors here circumscribed the scope of their commentary strictly within the purviews of the discussions about the Falklands and the islanders' indefeasible rights to determine their state of affairs, then most of you would be regarded by myself as completely rational contributors.
But many of you have been betrayed by an almost prurient proclivity to troll the Argentines, as a whole and on any topic and theme (not just the “malvinistas”), compelled by an inner, Cimmerian force to redact replies on topics patently beyond your ken (mainly about Argentine history and culture). As a consequence, some of you come across as asinine sciolists, and a few others as jejune, inverecund ultracrepidarians, to whom one merely deigns to vouchsafe perfunctory forbearance at best; and a few others deserving of outright dismissal, spurn, and condign ostracizing. Thes stygian emotions tergiversate your reputation and redound to your shame.
It results in you alienating those Argentines whose opinions may be consonant, precluding fledgling rapprochement that could be nurtured to eventuate irenic denouement between the denizens of both factions in a fantastically distant future. But most importantly, it diminishes your own contributions because when you indite what are either arrantly mendacious apocrypha or irrefragable canards about Argentina, then one is forced to engage in leery percontation, as to whether other asseverations by such individuals are also equally issuable. One may attempt to prescind fact from confabulation, fibs, and lies, but such efforts become anfractuous and ineludibly protract one's time of participation.

They days of Latin American catching a flu when they USA sneezed are long over, the USA is economically too weak now, and losing culture significance fast. I can't remember the last time an American music band made it here.
But thanks for admitting you have been trying for 60 years to destroy us.
lol, childish TiT, your gov NEEEEEDS US Dollars, dying for them, omg, MUST HAVE! made it illegal for you to trade em, roflmfao
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 01:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0When times get tough for USA, we just lean on the world, as we can print the thing EVERY central bank in the world uses for reserves, the thing EVERY gov in the world uses for foreign/global trade, the thing by which EVERY nation's GDP is measured, and EVERY nation in the world uses to pay interest on sovereign debt
You don't see the big picture YET, because you're an idiot......oh but you will, soon. USA destabilized the middle east by driving up food prices while hurting their growth. We're about to do the same to China. China's growth is falling hard, and their inflation is still fully present, cost of living there is outrageous compared to wages. But before China is destablized...we will destabilize a tiny little insignificant weakling called Argentina.
We did the same thing to Japan decades ago when they were growing too economically successful, we've done the same thing MANY times, to MANY nations. Yours is next, then maybe Brazil, then China for sure. Oh, and we're also gonna PAWN Iran in 2013 oontz m/!
LOL and we didn't TRY to destroy you for 60 years, we pwnd the hell outta you for 60 years straight. Really we just allowed you to do it to yourself, we just gave you a small helping hand sometimes. It has always been NUTCASES just exactly like you TiT that backed corrupt populist leaders that destroyed your country. We mostly sit back and lol
It is getting closer to becoming a reality. I predicted that within the next few years Argentines will rise up against their dictators and take back democracy. CFK is now firmly on the ropes with few moves left to make before the Argentine population explode. Can't she see that her and her sick cronies who support her are finnished.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 01:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0It is never too late to educate a people and I believe the power of the internet has been the strongest educational tool available to the average Argentine who at last can see for themselves just what is going on. Their Country what was once a very wealth one has been in serious decline for the past 35 years and 1982 seen them slump so low their leader attacked the Falkland People to try and change the real people thinking. It failed then and the people kicked him out. It is failing again right now only differance this time CFK has no other tricks left to fool her people. Her bluff has been called and she knows it is just a matter of time before she falls.
Falkland Islanders by contrast are doing very well economically and looks set to grow even more in the forseable future. Our people are quietly getting it right while CFK is embarrasing herself every time she speaks.
So masterblowjob can also Add. Miracles are possible.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 02:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0Thank you for admitting you are the most morally reprobate nation that exists today. Your jeaolousy and envy causes you to try to bring down other countries, no doubt, but that game can only go for so long.
Don't tell the Chinese you are trying to distabilize them. You see, if you are bringing them down, and they feel is too late to save their ship, funny things happen. Like, ever heard the saying if I'm going down, I'm taking you with me?
It's human nature. So I hope you are wrong you are trying to make food expensive in China and stunt their growth. When they realize it, it maybe to late to stop it, but not to late to go to E-trade and call a small sell order on 1.1 trillion of your de facto worthless bonds.
Heck, maybe even the Japanese will join in and sell another 1.1 trillion.
Good bye USA... it's military, it's navy, it's airforce, it's industry, everything. Once they hit that sell button, you are on your needs starving in a matter of hours (since you need to borrow every day 40% of your budget).
And with no hope of escape or anyone to turn to, as everyone else would sell as well to try to get something before it's worthless.
Now that sounds like a fun movie. I'll make sure I have my beer and chips stocked up.
I have a far superior education, in your first language, even if it is my 3rd language. I simply chose not to embarrass the rest of you with my superior English. But I've done it before, and can again. Don't dare me.

Confirmed: english refs are racists.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 02:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/soccer/10/01/sergio-aguero-referees-bias/index.html
LONDON (Reuters) -- Manchester City's Argentine striker Sergio Aguero has accused English referees of against foreign players in Premier League matches.
Aguerosaid home referees treated foreign players differently and were more likely to ignore them on penalty appeals. He also said foreign players were more likely to be punished for penalties that should not be given against them.
His compatriots Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Tevez both had penalty appeals turned down at Craven Cottage
”There is a little bit of privilege with players who come from that country, but that is normal.
And Aguero's views on Saturday's events, echoed those of Mancini, who was unhappy Fulham were awarded a penalty in the 10th minute when Zabaleta was harshly adjudged to have tripped Fulham's John Arne Riise.
Other incidents involving overseas players caused concern on Saturday.
Chelsea's Brazilian defender David Luiz was booked for diving during his side's 2-1 win at Arsenal, but the Gunners' English defender Carl Jenkinson, who committed an even more blatant dive than Luiz, escaped a booking.
Former Premier League referee Graham Poll, writing in his column in the Daily Mail, also highlighted the problems now facing Uruguayan Luis Suarez, who scored a hat-trick in Liverpool's 5-2 win at Norwich.
In other news, refs going back home after a hard day's work engaging in racism:

Morally superior UK.
(lol)
lol, TiT, we live in a system of evolution, sorry you suck at it. USA is the best at it, UK was the former best, and still one of the greatest. Your nation sucks at evolution.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 02:39 am - Link - Report abuse 0No such thing as morals.
Win, or lose, that's all. Argentina's losing, so you complain about the game, about evolution. Well try winning for once, then you won't complain, Argentina wasn't complaining about evolution/the game/the system in 1940 when it was rich. Try success, you'll like it, try gettin you a little taste of it for the first time in your miserable existence.
@109
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 02:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0You mean like the USA wasn't complaining about free trade, immigrants, Asians or Europeans before 2008?
Ever since then, free trade is unfair, the Asians cheat the USA, immigrants are evil, the Europeans are responsible for our problems, middle eastern countries are bastards for charing us so much for oil, etc, etc.
When oil was cheap, Europe was no problem, the Asians provided cheap labor, and the USA had free reign ond free trade, I heard none of that.
So you are right, you weren't complaining even a few years ago... now? lol, Every day the USA is crying about some country.
lol, you're just an angry nutcase who has never tasted success, and your jealousy is killing you.

Guess we see who the complaining losers are.
You know the worst part about traveling the REST of Latin America? Having to put up with all the masses of poor Argentine artesanians begging for change in the streets and annoying everyone with their complaining. These street urchains make trash from bits of string and then try to sell it, then they sleep under bridges and such....they're escaping the horrible Argentine economy. It's a very telling sign of what they're all running away from.
Yes, we believe you, the streets of Latin America full of argentines, from El Salvador to Peru, Venezuela to Chile, Bolivia to Costa Rica, all th artesans are desperate argies... hahahahahaha. The more you spew the more you ennoble us argentines.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 03:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0Why would I ever leave Mendoza for good when the city is overwhelmed with drunken ex-pats!
No, they very rarely ever make it to Costa Rica or El Salvador. Most of them turn around once they reach Colombia.

Oct 02nd, 2012 - 03:07 am - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, because argentine perform peripatetic emigration, hahahaha. You do actually know that in all of Latin America argentines (those few that emigrate to other countries in the region), tend to rise to the top of the society becoming broadcasters, designers, chefs, models, etc! In all countries we make more money than the natives.
In fact the same thing in the USA!! Argentines and Cubans make more money than the average American hahahah!
With all these drunkene ex-pats coming to live here helping to fuel a real estate boom especially in the southern suburbs and in Tupungato, I have no reason of leaving civilization and going to some smelly, overcrowded country where you may dwell haha
lol, u spout such nonsense. According to you, the sky is red, you say its fact, cause you saw it on a youtube video, or cause you want it to be.

Paradise, and the ex-pats and other argies vote with their feet, and flock to it.
lol dude, I've been to Mendoza, you haven't been to where I was raised. Mendoza's a shithole. It's nice compared to the northern half of Argentina, but shit compared to Bariloche or El Calafate. And mega doodoo compared to anywhere along the east, west, or north parts of USA. Hell, even our worst parts (the midwest and south) are better than Mendoza, by far.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 03:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0Mendoza is paradise compared to 95% of American cities, which smell, are full of random garbage in the streets, their downtowns are dead zones sorrounded by shanties that would ashame Brazilians, and where to find a tree you need a search party of three military batallions. And no water, anywhere. Just concrete, even the sidewalks. Grey, smelly, dangerous lairs. No public transport to speak of, to find a bus (much less mass transit on rails), is virtually non-existent. No cafe life, no children out playing, nothing.

Mendoza's mass transit with the electric buses (2nd in size in the Americas), and the new metro beats the crap out of all but maybe 10 US cities that have subway proper or light rail.
And we still have the best urban freeways (they are free) in Argentina along with BA.

You have to read texts, read books from English authors, research the culture behind the country. That goes for all languages. If you want to understand the language, first you have to understand the background of it.
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 04:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway, you still don't seem to understand that the US (although I dislike them) still have a lot of influence in SA business, although Argentina seems to be making a hash of trying to get economic growth by pushing them away.
Lastly, Argentinian people are also classed as South Americans (as all other countries on the continent) , as they, of course, live there and were born there.
Read something interesting this AM in a world Navy magazine. Argentine DM Puricelli will be traveling to Germany early next year to discuss modernixation of the MEKO ships. Let's see, that's 10 of them. How many Dauntlesses will you have?

What do you do when the city where you live is dying? All over the United States formerly great cities are crumbling, but some are definitely in worse shape than others. One reader recently wrote to me about what she sees happening all around her in Reno, Nevada. The unemployment rate in Reno is now up to 11.7 percent, which is well above the national average of 8.3 percent. But even though the labor force is now nearly 20 percent smaller, the unemployment rate is still well above 11 percent. There simply are not enough jobs in large Nevada cities such as Reno and Las Vegas. Even today, some housing developments that were put up near the end of the boom times look like virtual ghost towns. Nevada has the fifth highest suicide rate in the nation, gangs have moved in and the drug trade is flourishing. Reno has been called the meth capital of America, and crime is on the rise. On Reno resident said:
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 07:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0As a lifelong Renoite, I am inclined to respond to these lists with defiance. Yeah, things can look pretty grim sometimes when no one can find a job, and there seems to be no way out.
And that is how many Americans are feeling these days. They are broke, unemployed, depressed and out of options.
How can you pick up and start a new life somewhere else when you have no job and no money?
Sadly, a lot of younger Americans are turning to drugs in an attempt to escape the pain of their daily lives. Crime is is no longer falling in America. More than 80% of Americas said the country is on the wrong track for 6 years in row now, and all-time record.
Most say the American dream is no longer real.
Reno is far from alone. Detroit, Cleveland and Baltimore are completely falling apart as well. This kind of thing is literally happening from coast to coast. Many cities and states will go broke in the next few years.
Real unemployment is over 17%. One recent study found that 46 percent of all Americans die with less than $10k worth of financial assets.
What happened?

The following are 21 facts about America's failing infrastructure that will blow your mind...
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 08:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0#4 Approximately one-third of all roads in the United States are in substandard condition.
#5 Close to a third of all highway fatalities are due to substandard road conditions, obsolete road designs, or roadside hazards.
#6 One out of every four bridges in America either carries more traffic than originally intended or is in need of repair.
#9 All over America, asphalt roads are being ground up and are being replaced with gravel roads because they are cheaper to maintain. The state of South Dakota has transformed over 100 miles of asphalt roads into gravel roads, and 38 out of the 83 counties in the state of Michigan have transformed at least some of their asphalt roads into gravel roads.
#10 There are 4,095 dams in the United States that are at risk of failure. That number has risen by more than 100 percent since 1999.
#11 Of all the dam failures that have happened in the United States since 1874, a third of them have happened during the past decade.
#12 Close to half of all U.S. households do not have access to bus or rail transit.
#16 All across the United States, conditions at many of our state parks, recreation areas and historic sites are deplorable at best. Some states have backlogs of repair projects that are now over a billion dollars long....
#20 The World Economic Forum ranks U.S. infrastructure 23rd in the world, and we fall a little bit farther behind the rest of the developed world every single day.
#21 It has been projected that it would take 2.2 trillion dollars over the next 5 years just to repair our existing infrastructure. That does not even include a single penny for badly needed new infrastructure.
Where did we go so wrong??

Oct 02nd, 2012 - 08:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0An Argentinian child born in in Antarctic is an “Indigenous Antarctican”!
How does this help Argentina’s claim if the child is not even Argentinian.
Indigenous Antarcticans born in British territory would be entitled to the protection of the crown, think about it!
“People who live there”, particularly liked that statement, military personnel (or Civilians) doing a tour of duty (then back to the world, man!) in the most uninhabitable place on the planet, do not constitute a population, never mind an indigenous one.
Their called “military personnel” not “a population”, who do you think you’re kidding.
The division of the Artic did not “open the door for massive lawsuits by natives in the Americas, Australia, Africa, ect” why would the Antarctic?
The British are already in Antarctica under our own flag and with our military, arrived long before Argentina did, as you point out.
Argentina and Chile can still have Antarctic territories, in the as yet unclaimed part of Antarctica.
But not in British Antarctic Territory, that is already taken.

@178 Tobias pretty interesting quote I found about Argentina and it's 2001 DEFAULT (sorry I have to LOL).
Oct 02nd, 2012 - 09:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0”This year, however, the government has the opposite problem. Its growth figures are already perkier than many private forecasts (though the economy is now generally believed to have touched bottom). And there is another complication: if growth exceeds 3.3 per cent, Argentina must pay GDP warrants that were issued as part of its debt restructuring after its 2001 default on nearly $100bn.
Another on possible corruption:
Full details are not yet known – Hernán Lorenzino, the economy minister, is due to unveil it in Congress on Thursday. But the government has earned a reputation for fancy footwork in its budget figures in recent years, deliberately understating growth to obtain a windfall that can be distributed at will.”
Our country is clearly in a better state than yours, and can also survive recession. Hope you find these interesting
Sounds perfect logic briton. Kills me to know we still send millions to argentina. USA has infrasture issues, but by argentine standards would be considered 1A.
