As a newly appointed ambassador, how unprofessional, parochial, crass, and boorish. In short, a faithful representative of what his country stands for.

I don't see why he should apologize, isn't he supposed to embody and espouse the values of his flag?

The crowd may chant what they will, but what matters is on the pitch. And there, Chile will be chanting to their tv screens come 2014, because there's no chance in he!! they are qualifying (and this is when more than half of the teams in SA can go through because Brazil is not in the comp).

Same with Paraguay: Argentine coach = world cups
No argentine coach = last in the standings.

No argentine coach = no brains = no world cup.

Opposite Colombia, which after 16 years hired an argentine coach, which means they have brains, and now are cruising into 2014.

As for the ambassador, it's the UK ambassador, who respect the UK anyway. This behavior is completely expected from them. No education, no diplomacy, no tact, no morals, no nothing. The beau ideal of moron.

Changing the topic is a major FAIL.

The truth is no one gives a hoot about the argie ambassador in London, a very minor posting in terms of Argentine strategic priorities. One sends to a locale what that locale deserves.

Which shows the UK doesn't really think much of the Chileans, look at the guy. He seems he was truant from half his high school courses, I wonder if he graduated.

The chant is pretty apt. An army, navy and Air Force that can't hold on to an island only 300 miles from the continent against a task force of only 10,000 men must surely be a bunch of faggots. Fair play to the Ambassador only repeating the truth. Then again the Argies never liked tgd truth.

Simple. In the Argentine economy articles (in this website all of them), I keep being told by the Brutish (I don't listen of course), that I can't bring up the economic situation in the UK because it is not the topic, that the topic is Argentina's economy.

    Fine.

But then again I wasn't expecting you brits to actually keep to your word, as you so eloquently demonstrated. The issue here is the British ambassador, which while true to his origins by the churlish and depraved way he conducts himself, no doubt received orders straight from London to pull this little gem. The objective being to drive Chile and Argentina apart, a true and tried anglo-saxon lowbrow strategy.

    @12

Well, to be fair, they did lose to an army. At least as an army we never lost to a rag-tag civilian squad, not once, but twice. Now that is beyond pathetic no matter what excuses you hold under your sleeves.

Took New York, Washington, Cape Town, Montevideo all within a few years of each other, but never could take Buenos Aires. How humilliating.

#4 - I doubt anyone denies the Argentine talent for football, unfortunately it seems to be sucking up all the Argentine talent leaving none for such trivial things as Governing, Economics and the Military.

No, the article is about the ambassador behaving or sympathying with the chants and behavior of the lowest denominator of Southern Cone society, the football Barra Bravas. Most (not all) are the lowest of the low on the evolutionary scale in this part of the world only after murderers, rapists, europeans, politicians, and foreigners.

I'm sure in his country this behavior is standard in and “high class”, but not in the SC.

And of course Rg's football fans are the best behaved in the world.........NOT that's why CFK tried to get them to behave quote
Moreover, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner specifically addressed the issue of violence in football and, after narrating some personal anecdotes she requested the system to be thoroughly implemented, stating that the violent ones are part of “small groups that are connected to things that happen outside the stadium and not inside it”.

“Many of the violent events have a clear political intention”, she said while also considering that sometimes, they are “directed and motivated” by interests. She also indicated that these actions “not only take place in the terraces but that there also many of them that take place in the stands”.
Show how thick she is I always thought the terraces were in the stands

The only time its made into anything is when there is something to gain. In this case the UK has humiliated itself for the insecure troglodytes they are, so there is nothing Argentina needsto do.

And we will be coming back like it or not. One day they will wake as in 1982 to find us Argentine come home again. And this time we might not let any pest loose to infest Islas Malvinas Argentina ever again. My generation is not as forgiving as our parents were. Maybe the Argentine community should pay a late visit to the British embassy to remind them where they are and tech them respect.

You've lost the plot, btw. You were a centered contributor but now have devolved into a cretin. To actually state with a straight face that was appropriate behavior for the representative of your country is quite revealing.

I am not the mythological Tobias figure. I have never encountered this legendary creature. I've read sagas about him. I've also overheard lore and rumours that he was also “Truth Tellling Trolls”, which I do remember catching sight of before his ascent to the pantheon of internet Demiurges to become the cynosure for all of us who wish to cast the light of truth athwart the digital world.

As for speaking on behalf of all Argentine's it is you sir that has lost the plot if you believe that. Only a head of state may consider themselves to be speaking for the people and even then its not always supported by the people even if that is their elected position.

The behavior wasn't in keeping with a British ambassador however on the scale of things its remarkably small compared to the ranting and lying of your great leader and supporting cast.

I am not Tobias. Do not stellify me before my time.

Well you immediately employed comparison of this individual's transgression with the supposed Argentine behavior. One must surmise that you insinuated that his behavior was extenuated due to the actions of third parties (in this case, the evil argies).

If that is so, then absolutely British foreign policy in this part of the world is tethered to whatever bar the Argentines set as appropriate diplomatic behavior. Thus what you condone depends on the standards and criteria set by others.

    Oct 15th, 2012 - 10:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0

Comparison doesn't infer anything other than that. It certainly doesn't infer a foreign country sets its standards by those of Argentina, if it did so we wouldn't have any standards.

  • The Chilean perspective

It may be a football chant but it is COMPLETELY TRUE. Sadly for the Argentines their inept military put into place an improvised, half hearted unprofessional, and totally ridiculous plan to hold on to the Falklands. It was doomed to fail from the start. They failed to extend the runway at the Stanley airport for their fighters and didn't build any new ones else where in the islands which meant that the Air force had to fly a long way to complete their sorties leaving them vulnerable and with a very short window of operations before they had to fly back. As for the Navy, it must have been run by the Village People. They had the capacity to neutralize the entire task force on their own not to mention the 100+ Air force fighters at their disposal. Once the Brits landed the Argies missed another great opportunity to counter attack as the Brits had to march all the way to Stanley in the open some 80klms and once they reached the outskirts of Stanley the Argies inexplicably surrendered without as much as a single shot being fired in the streets of Stanley. I must say though, they built some lovely pyramids with their surrendered weapons. Overall an embarrassing performance, and this was at their peak of military power. Today they couldn't even defeat a gang of boy scouts, and no one has any respect for their Armed forces as apparent with the frigate Libertad impounded in Ghana.
The only positive thing in this saga is that they still play very good football and we are very unlikely to beat them. I still wish La Roja good luck though.

And the next day you will be sent home having lost your entire airforce and at least two runways.

Plus over the following week will see your naval and air threat removed for another 20 years as the UK destroys the Argentine pirates in self defence.

Your chief of naval staff can't even control a sailing ship to his rubber faced mistress's satisfaction, so how you expect to succesfully take on one submarine, a T45 destroyer and less than 10 combat aircraft, especially when their numbers are reinforced to 10-20 aircraft, and be successful is anybody's guess.

Which are the Islands that were taken from whom and, what was the reason? Maybe I’ll find out this Tuesday at (Santaigo’s) National Stadium? I already have my ticket!”.
That was the post and all know which islands are being referred to.And all can see the 'taken from' in the tweet. There is no further comment required but the UK must be embarrassed and will have to pretend it wasn't a Chilean matter and he wasn't referring to the Malvinas but that he was ignorant. In truth it's a serious failure on his part.
But yankeeboy, who has probably spoken to loads of Argentinians, will know that it wasn't noticed.Well it wasn't on here was it Slatzzz#1. Um!

You often tell us how clever you are, and yet you use the same 18th century dictionary and thesaurus under both those pseudonyms, as in:

“monarchical demesnes”, “insecure troglodytes”, “pantheon of internet Demiurges”, “the cynosure”, “athwart”, “stellify”, “turpitudinous”, “noetic nabob”, etc.

and spew the same childish insults, as in: “We don't ask that our pets, foreigners, or other animals apologize”

How can you possibly imagine, that we cannot see through this thin veil of disguise?

What is the origin of the word “colony”?

Why do you insist on using so many names? When I started posting on this site you used 2 names, Tobias and TTT and you talked a lot more sense. I am still Condorito, ElaineB is still ElaineB, Simon is still Simon, Guzz is still Guzz, Yanqui is still Yanqui, etc, so why this nonsense of making up names and pretending you are from different places?

Anyway...Chile’s chances are slim tonight, the team is having a disastrous time. Players who think they are so much better than they really are because the press treats them like gods and an ARGENTINEAN manager who has lost the respect of the team and the country. Yes, el Guaton Parrillero Borghi is an Argie and he is no Bielsa.

Hate to put a spoke in the wheel!

The words (allegedly) were “”Argentines, gays, they took the Falklands off you because you are cowards“ in rhyming Spanish slang ” (DT 16th Oct.)

Seems about the truth of the matter in my judgement: many LatAms have posted on MercoPress how the women of AG are niggled by the stupid bollock grabbing antics of the AG men.

And as for the Falklands (there are STILL no Malvinas) how else would you describe the antics of the AG Military when faced with a force of much smaller numbers?

Any Brit realises the tremendous fear that 3 Para and 42 Commando and the other illustrious units, the Navy and the planes would have instilled in the average untrained, poorly equipped and ingloriously led AG forces.

All the time the Brits were coming the 8,000 miles (that is 12,900 Km for the dumb AG’s) at them the fear would have been mounting and mounting, much like an Alfred Hitchcock film until the realisation became true. They were and still are a bunch of cowards.

Think about this the next time TMBOA tries to mislead you about us.

The current cost, in the UK is approx £395, at the current rate of exchange this would come in at $600.

LOL, I've got no bloody idea, eh!
I don't think HE knows either.

Some sort of barrio-Spanish from his ghetto.

    He's more than a little delusional ,
“ I do depend on a network of people who are not maricones.”

He is always inciting Argentinians to commit crimes of violence or civil disobedience, while he sits alone in Canada.
From what I can gather, he thinks he is a terrorist and an expert in the tactics of MI6, CIA, and Mossad:
“Argentina will give me much support when I get back”

I agree with you, he might be happier with his “maricones” friends.
They are always included in his posts and always on his mind.

Fortunately, this “ terrorist” seems limited in his travels, can't leave Canada, has only a bicycle and a bus pass...

He is paranoid about homosexuals stalking him; he thinks a nuclear weapon can be delivered without a delivery system; he works for a secret terrorist network of maricones. Eccentric character. more ranting gibberish about “ hate the white man ” and British criminals“ , ”I am Amerindian, you can't stop us travelling, all American land is ours“
Something more about ”Canada oppresses aboriginals, and no self-determination for Québécois people...“on... and on...

Most telling was ”I wish I could return to Argentina... hate living with British“

”Ken Ridge“ says Alex V speaks of being an illegal immigrant in Canada on FB and other blogs. Alex speaks of shoplifting or anything to ”damage the Canadian economy“.

I haven't seen that personally, maybe removed. I have seen him elsewhere on the 'net as ”Alex Vargas“

He describes himself as a ”racist“ and a ”terrorist” on Mercopress.

On a forum, RT Comments, he rants about US/UK bombing Muslim women and children - the same as he does on here, regardless of topic.

They are neither subfuscous amphigory nor anfractuous sesquipedalianism, but rather your benighted condition in regards to lexicon, which luculently betokens the paucity of pabulum in your educational curriculum. This statement is apodictic verity and not covert charientism.
