I can't see what will come out of this as I can't see the Iranians extraditing an ex president.

What's the chances this is a cover for an oil for soy beans deal?

You know Idlehands, I am suspect as well. I think this is a chance with something far more sinister then they lead the world to believe.

    @1 Idlehands

I agree that it is unlikely that the Iranians would surrender anyone, let alone a former President, to the justice of 'foreigners'.

It could be a cover for soy for oil, though why they would need a cover for this is unknown. What is worse is the thought of oil for nuclear material, such as uranium.

They would really want to keep that under the radar as Argentina would be slapped with sanctions if the UN discovered that they were supplying weapons grade uranium to the Iranians breaking UN resolutions and the NNPT.

Iran is having enough problems enriching enough uranium for their own use and don't need the oil, OR are you seriously claiming that AG can provide weapons grade enriched uranium TO them for oil?

    @4

Sounds more likely - then Iran does not have to share technology with another unstable whack job leadership.

Argentina gets oil and an ally willing to do the dirty work.

    An aside:
This will really upset the balance on that other thread - the current discussion on whether God loves and favours Argentina more than the US/UK ...

I can't believe that in the 21st century, Guzz , Think, et al, are suggesting CFK rules by 'Divine Right' !!

That would explain a lot, though.

    Deluded, or what ??

Actually Argentina does mine uranium, as to whether they can process it to be weapons grade or not I'm not one hundred percent sure, but it is possible.

Argentina needs oil desperately, especially as they cann0t get anyone to invest in their own oil industry, and quite frankly you wouldn't need a cover for a trade of soy for oil (no UN sanctions cover the import of food or medical supplies - except certain 'mediums' that nasty bugs can be grown in), so if Idlehands is right then my guess it would be a cover for a discussion on uranium.

Iran can't get weapons grade material, Argentina mines uranium. It seems to be a logical link, again assuming Idlehands is right.

It would also be a very dangerous game for Argentina to get involved in, because if the UN found out they would have sanctions slapped on them so fast that what's left of their economy would implode, and they would only be allowed to trade for food and medicines - and NOTHING else.

However this is all speculation. Interesting though.

I am not quite so sure they can the capability of pulling that off. Iran is rally in quite a hot seat and under the microscopic eye of most every countries intelligence agency. That would prove to be quite a hot shipment to get through to Iran.

    Oct 29th, 2012 - 03:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0

Argentina won't be supplying uranium to Iran. Firstly Iran has it's own raw supplies of uranium, secondly Argentina does not have the technology to make it weapons grade for them and thirdly CFK is stupid but she's not that stupid.

Has nobody noticed the world is slapping sanctions on Iran left right and centre - including their sale of oil. While it may be technically legal for Argentina to buy their oil it would be considered sanction busting by everyone else. It mat be a refining issue - Iran has plenty of crude but lacks the capacity to refine it into petrol so they actually have a fuel shortage.

Alternatively they may just want a chin wag about why they murdered 30 people 20 years ago.

Irans economy has crashed due to enhanced sanctions – especially targeting oil exports conducted via the banking system.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19798655

Countries seek to circumvent sanctions by ‘barter’ – oil for goods transactions, of which soya could be an example in the case of Argentina.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19798655

The present danger is that both Iran and Argentina see themselves as similarly ‘victims in adversity’ – drawing them together for a perceived mutual benefit. Therefore it is possible that a meaningless solution will be found – face saving, on both sides.

On a more amusing note, as a consequence of the collapse of the Iranian Rial – Iran is planning a new currency, the Peso perhaps…….

I'm stunned that you were all pondering a uranium relationship between Argentina and Iran.

Argentina just plays Mickey Mouse politics on the world stage. They are a childish irrelevance. If they started mixing it with Iran they'd have the UNSC and a fleet of cruise missile destroyers bearing down on them.

Helping the mad mullahs build nuclear weapons is a whole different ball game to refusing to pay your debts and then running away from the bailiffs.

Iran is believed to have significant uranium deposits.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining_in_Iran

I doubt whether they would need technical or practical assistance from Argentina.

Although it is alleged that Argentina has explored nuclear weapons.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining_in_Iran

Any overt, or suspected covert connection with Iran would bring great wrath upon them - and they have enough problems already.

I could possibly envision Argentina being put up as a resolution to the Iran re-processing issues.

I agree that it is an unlikely scenario, but Iran can trade its oil for food and/or medical supplies (with certain limitations).

In fact it would be illegal for the UN to put sanctions on food as it would be in opposition to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, of which the UN is a champion.

So it would be quite legal for Argentina to trade soy or other food items for Iranian oil, so they wouldn't need to be clandestine about it, which is why the uranium fits your 'cover, for an illegal Iranian/Argentinian deal scenario.

Specific food sanctions are not required. The general sanctions applied and subsequent economic collapse have resulted in significant food supply/availability issues.

if we were to look at Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and yemen, we will notice that US and UK terrorist did MIA the twin towers and armed Alqaeda all for the same reason. To use the excuse to theft and and access to oil and gas, why Argentina would even investigate Iran is a joke on educated people. But hey if that is how stupid they want to look, by all means let the world laugh at Argentina, with Argentina's clown acts for the west it is no wonder why people might consider Argentina corrupt and a joke. Argentina might have gained some credibility if they sat with Iran to discuss a nuclear defence program, with this head lines people around the world are thinking we are cheer leaders of the WMD lies made up in USA.

I thought my post @4 was clearly incredulous about AG centrifuging fast enough to give anywhere near the yield that Iran would need.

Early 70’s technology would be very wasteful to gain even a pitiful amount.

Unless of course the Canadian idiot managed to get Sadams centrifuges out before he was necked.

More likely is that AG are asking Iran to support them over the Falklands (there are STILL no Malvinas) and help with the vulture funds. :o)

There are claims by Iran (2010) that they have laser enrichment ‘mastered’ but are not going to use it.

Given that GE (of USA) and Hitachi are only just entering into a joint venture to prove the feasibility of the Australian concept this seems far reached.

Also, given that laser enrichment is supposed to be cheaper and much more compact (no supersonic centrifuge farms needed) and the site has a much smaller footprint, it makes you doubt the veracity of their statement.

Perhaps AG is going to advise them on developing their bomb programme. Ha, ha, to the power 99!

@59 “a nuclear defence program 100% build in Argentina”. Let's follow that “thought” through. Thirty years ago, argies had problems with fuses. We can therefore be confident that any nuclear defence program 100% manufactured in argieland would probably destroy Buenos Aires. One wonders where the second shot would go. Timmerman always looks and acts like he's a scheming plotting ne'er do well (albeit inept and ineffective one). The Iranians appear to be doing all they can to produce nuclear weapons. The Mossad have inconvenienced Iran's ambitions by unhelpfully topping some of their essential scientists. Meanwhile Argentina, in the form of KFC, publicly brags for some inexplicable reason, that Argentina possess “the best nuclear scientists in the region”. It looks like Iran, home of the nuttiest Islamists on the planet, and Argentina, home of the nuttiest Malvinists, may well be co-operating on matters nuclear.

    interamericansecuritywatch.com/argentina’s-secret-deal-with-iran

Israel doesn't like that. I'm wondering why KFC would think Argentina's 'expertise' in this field might be remotely relevant for her to mention to the UN 'decolonisation' committee in connection with the Falkland Islands? Quite bizarre. I trust British, Israeli and NATO security services are keeping an eye on these muppets.

Lol#67 you got to love war mongers, first they threaten two nations with no weapons out of fears until they both arm themselves to the teeth and now the war monger prophecy has come truth do to all the threats coming out of their mouth.
For this reason I support a nuclear defence program 100% built in Argentina. I also support every Brit and US civilian to push for their democratic right in their home nation.
We support CFK and demand she Ends the illegal occupation of Islas Malvinas Argentina.

@68 give it up you are getting really repetative, even if you are 16 now the Falklands will still have a British flag flying over it when your 90, and you still won't have anything resembling a nuclear weapon, get over it.

    “74

Repetition of stock phrases over and over again.

Startling similarities between Guzz and Pirat-Alex.
Certainly exactly the same La Campora Juvenil play book and very similar style.

I would say that they were the same person, except perhaps that Pirat-Alex is a lot more sophisticated than Guzz and rants about nukes as well.

In campaigns there is always a “message of the week”. I think la campora is putting out these memos the steer the conversation away from the articles. I bet fatsimo the fat fucking kirchner threatens an ass opening if they go off message. He does have them well on point.

    @79 Guzzano

“ you have been on the repetitive “Bash Argentina”-disc for bloody ages...”

You've been on the La Campora Juvenil , “killing Muslim women and children” -script for bloody ages...

You are doing your best to perpetuate a lie, regardless of the numerous reasoned responses you provoke.

You have no legitimate interest in 'crimes' of the UK military in the Midfle East. Admit it, these are just relentless repetitions of charges to distract from Resl issues, as in the topic if this post (remember what it was?) or to justify your own immoral acts.

In other words you are a self-righteous petaludo, full of sh*t.

Honestly, and I was teasing you before, you really do sound very very similar to PH, to your shame.
I do know for sure, that he subscribes to La Campora Juvenil. The two of you quote the same sources, accuse with the same phrasing, and apparently you do not even bother to research the crap you link to.
Neither of you seem to realise that video bites on YouTube, selected to suport your assertions, are next to worthless in value, with no real context.
Lastly, you seem to have exactly the same agendas with a blind acceptance of whatever CFK is peddling.

Who can be bothered to indulge you again and again, when you are not interested in the answer, just spreading doubt. half-truths and untruths ??

Sorry, buddy, you sound like zombies. :-(
