Britain traditionally sends a Minister to represent the Government each year to the Falklands and this year Mr Lancaster has been selected
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Again showing our commitment and loyally to the Falklands.

    @3 Boovis, ouch, good one...

Probably quite a good choice by London, and even potentially useful: He's a qualified EOD officer with the TA, so he'll probably want the minefield tour while he's there.

He's also a reasonable batsman (he's one of the opening batsmen for the House of Commons cricket team), and it must be nearly the season?

No doubt another military parade (especially with the bootneck band present) will be another reason for Timmidman to go to NY to winge about militarising the South Atlantic to the UN.

So nice to see UK continue to support the FI s and great that 50 veterans are going, where they will get a great welcome.

@3, I think you miss the point, which perhaps is not well set out in the article, but Mr Lancaster is a strictly a “guest” of the Falkland Islands Government to attend the Falkland Islands Remembrance Services, while the Falkland Islands people host near 60 returning veterans and family members of veterans who are visiting for the first time since they fought for and returned our Freedom in 1982.

I wish I could be there. Not easy to save when you're retired. BUT. Greatest respect to the Falkland Islanders, the 255 British servicemen that gave their lives, the 775 who were wounded. To the Royal Navy, the Merchant Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force. As always, the BEST of the BEST. So many to remember. 2 & 3 PARA. 40, 42 & 45 Commando, Royal Marines. 1/7 Gurkhas. 2 Scots and 1 Welsh Guards. THE SAS. The Submarine Service. Most especially to the ships' companies of HMS Sheffield, Glasgow, Antrim, Ardent, Antelope, Coventry, Fearless. Vessels of the RFA. The crew of the ATLANTIC CONVEYOR. The 5th Infantry Brigade. 800, 801 and 809 Naval Air Service. Harrier GR3s of the RAF. The Army Air Corps. And still so many more. Who could hope for more? The Falklands are SAFE. For as long as there is one member of the British armed forces or one Briton left standing!

Interesting to note that Argenwhina along with other pillars of democracy in the UN C24 Committee such as China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, Syria and Iran are working hard to decolonise the US Virgin Islands, Guam and American Samoa and actively support the Puerto Rico Independence Party.

It also says something when Argenwhina puts up a statue of Ho Chi Minh in downtown Buenos Ayres.

And yet britain fully supports America over these islands, do we not,

sad then, its not done in reverse.
the Falklands deserve nothing less , than the full support of the free democratic world,

their feedom , your freedom .

    #12 Argentina certainly doesn't want a British empire =)

But empire or no empire, the decadent British establishment is being monstered so bad right now it really does feel like Big Ben is ticking for it! Did you see Channel 4 news tonight, all the coverups are coming back to haunt the establishment, including one it seems of a paedophile ring of senior Thatcher ministers!

@10 That's because you are on here all day satisfying your gerontophilia rather than taking an interest in the country that gives you freedom and opportunity.

@15 Yes. Any more mercilessly incisive and show stopping sarcasm you can share with us? That one had me reeling I must admit.

The cacerolazos country wide were much larger than the September 13 ones. For example our little town (population aprox. 10.000) fielded 1.000 protesters which is about 25% more than the last time.
The protests are not demanding that CFK should go, we want her to take notice of the important things that the Argentine people need:

    1) Security
    2) An end to government corruption
    3) Ending inflation
    4) Guaranteed personal liberty
    5) An end to confrontational policies both domestically and abroad
    6) Respect for those who think differently
    7) No more talk of re-reelection
    8) No more lies about the economy

These were the main demands of the people last night here in our town and also in the rest of the country.

#25 Some of those demands sound like motherhood and apple pie, but on re-election let the people decide in 2015, and on “confrontational” policies this is what people want, nobody in the real world wants to be dictated to by the IMF

Oh Rufus, you really shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag. You are directly responsible for Argentina's next complaint to the UN about the militarisation of the South Atlantic.
