Armed sailors on board the detained Argentine ARA Libertad frigate in Ghana threatened to open fire on Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) officials, if they attempted to move the ship from berth 11 to berth six, at the Tema Port, according to reports of “The Chronicle” local newspaper. She told you to f**k off in the only language you truly understand... No misunderstandings, right? ;)

tut tut... isnt this militarization of another country yet again???
Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:50 am - Link - Report abuse 0so argentina thinks pointing weapons will get what it wants, yet again?
they may be trouble ahead.....yet again.
For the sages remark, that those with weapons shall alwayd speak of others with weapons from the heights of noetic dishonesty.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0The American South is so like LatAm in its military agression and backwards-facing.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0If the crew open fire on the Ghanaian port authority, it constitutes an act of war (ARA Libertad being a ship of war, right?) and they'll be wiped out.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 04:28 am - Link - Report abuse 0Really this shows a complete lack of leadership, leaving the crew in an impossible situation.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 05:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0The govt. of Argentina seem to be sacrificing them for the sake of hubris.
Not very clever resorting to arms, cut the power, cut the water cut the food and wait. Then charge them with threatening to kill Ghanaian officials.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 07:25 am - Link - Report abuse 0The feral child has now developed a biting habit. The world will take note.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 07:35 am - Link - Report abuse 0That is not the end of this one. That ship will be moved within days. They had no legal right to offer armed resistance to the port personnel. The individuals involved should be dragged off and charged by the local police.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 07:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0Good eh because your country's going down the tubes deny a poor country like Ghana 60000 dollars a day in income
Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:17 am - Link - Report abuse 0If there was not a Ghanaian military presence around this ship, I suspect there is one now.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0When CFK called her crew back and left the ship without a fuzz, you cried about her and her crewmembers not having the balls to protect their sovereignity. Now that the crew says here, but not longer, you cry because the Ghanese personnel aren't allowed on the ship at will.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0You lot just want to cry, don't you?

Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0Militarily the Argies are as thick as S##t. If they fire one shot that 18th century style warship will be reduced to a cinder. The occupants of that ship are not sailors merely armed bandits.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:54 am - Link - Report abuse 0As previously said in this thread it is pretty sure the Ghanaians have now brought in their Army near the ship and will not tolerate a group of armed bandits threaten their port officials. As always when Argies resort to military action they come off second best.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 08:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh he got the message alright but not a good message for Argentina. This is not going to end the way CFK is kidding nobody it is. I bet the ship is moved under the instructions of Ghana within a few days and this will be the last time the Argentine military is welcome inthe country.
20
Nov 10th, 2012 - 09:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0And what a welcome they recieved...
You think Arg will accept another of those invitations?
The world doesn't spin around your belly-button, Joe.
I got news for you, it never has...
Argies are only brave when they have guns and the others don't. If the port athorities and coast guard decided to arm themselves in reaction to this naked agression then the Argies will either run away (perhaps swim) or cry not to shot at.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 09:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0Even the Argie sailors lack a spine. I imagine the Argie trolls are proud of their sailors arming themselves and threatening unarmed officials.

Guzz says he was exiled to Denmark er, umm Sweden, I think...
He now says he hasreturned' to SA because, according to him, Gusanos are those who move to Europe or the US because they cannot live off others for free in SA.
He implies he is in Uruguay, but its more likely he never leaves Argentina.
BTW, this one tough character with a strong moral fiber. Guzzano claims he was a brave Socialist fighting against the fascists in Operation Condor, in the 1970's.
That should make him 60-70 years old, by now. Do you think he shows that maturity ??
Look how calm BK is, and he's got to be in his 80's !

You're wrong. I've never used any tag other than Joe Bloggs. How about you? You can't even keep your story straight under the one tag. First you're in Uruguay, than Denmark now back in South America. You claimed you were old. Then last week you said you were in your twenties...

The fact that you two need multiple accounts to proove your points has nothing to do with me. If it wasn't because of the fact that there are a bunch of lunatics defending your wicked views, threatening to kill people discussing on a thread, I would have no issues logging in with my facebook account. As it is, I have this account, and this account only. I even bide my time when posting and realising I forgot to answer someone addressing me, not wanting to create another account for quick answering. For you lot, I'm Guzz. Nov 10th, 2012 - 10:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0Well my daughter just stole my ipad while I was making her breakfast. That's gratitude for you. I can't be bothered trying to find where one of the kids left the family laptop's lead which wasn't where they were when they let the said device run flat. I left my laptop in the office at work and can't be fagged to go and get that. So I am on very borrowed time on Mrs Bloggs's MacBook Pro while she's outside tending to the hens.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 10:44 am - Link - Report abuse 0Guzz has actually helped me keep things in context. I don't have an issue with him or Argentines in general. I am simply a Falkland Islander who had his back up a little because the government of our nearest neighbour kept trying to use us as a distraction from her own problems. Actually I'm not concerned about our security...
Sorry. Mrs Bloggs is coming in through back door for her usual Saturday morning ritual of catching up with news and replying to emails whilst eating breakfast. Being on her beloved MacBook Pro on a Saturday morning after the hens have been tended to is suicidal.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 10:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0For someone who 'claims' to Uruguayan you seem so personally invested in the Argentine cause, not even the Uruguayan government is openly protesting what the Ghanaians are doing. After reading your posts on here I am satisfied that you are Argentine. Hopefully the Ghanaian military will shoot next time they raise their arms , they have probably been taking advice from the British Foreign office and know that if you fight back, the white flag very quickly follows.
Easiest thing to do is. A. Cut off thier shore supply, it takes a lot of diesel to keep the lights on, galley running and electrical equipment running off generators, B. Disconnect them from the effluent barge or tanker that will be tending them for sewage etc, I don't personally know how much thier sewage treatment plant can hold but I bet it's not much, and it is illegal to discharge sewage directly overboard inside territorial waters (not that illegal will bother rgenweener) but believe me the ship will soon be stinking. C. Cut off fresh water supply from jetty, ships evaporators capability to make fresh water from sea water is greatly reduced when a ship is alongside and of course needs power from generator to make it happen which takes me back to A

The sailors should be court marshalled and the captain reduced to the ranks or dishonourably discharged for this cowardly action. I realise that AG does not understand anything to do with the concept of honour.

and then you talk of moral suicide!!!! Moral's are what the rest of the world has Guzz. As I pointed out in another post, Argentina is A-Moral. That is, it's not that they have any moral's, it's just that they don't know how to act Morally or even what moral's are.

@49 with draft of only 6 metres, a hull length of 92 metres and a displacement of 6700 tonnes, with a full complement of nearly 350 people I would suggest that doesn't leave a lot of room for sewage treatment plants, however you'd be surprised how much crap 45 people can generate on a ship.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 12:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0No doubt you would crap over the side of the ship - but their is a law against it whilst a ship is in port.
The Ghanaians would have to add environmental terrorism to the list of crimes against the Argentine Sailors.
Threatening behaviour
Refusing to obey a legal order
Environmental terrorism
Of course, if they were ever stupid enough to open fire, they would all be arrested and charged with attempted murder, or murder if they actually killed someone.
They still have the death penalty in Ghana...

The USA is a huge and very wealthy country it would take generations to end up like Argentina. Look how long it took them to go from 1st world to 3rd world 5-6 generations and they were no where near as rich as we are plus we work and make things not just live off what the land can produce and are at the whims of the weather for our survival.
Looks like the weather isn't cooperating too much this year. Isn't that what killed the Mayans?

I am sure we would LOVE to set up a base there though. I wonder if that is part of the FTA agreement....
I seriously doubt that these rifles were actualy loaded with live ammo. I can not believe that any Captain, would risk an ND killing a Ghanaian civilian, don't forget, he ordered this action and would be responsible for any subsequent actions, including murder, so he too would face charges.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And not only inside your head, out in the real world.
Feel free to post anything that backs your words, fool.
Anything!
Tell you what, you can't, because in the alternative reality of your, CNN has no coverage.
The biggest thing that has changed is the ability of Uruguay's neighbor to spend U$ in their country.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:45 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Don't you think they are a bit worried about this? Uruguay is very dependent on a good summer season, whole towns exist solely for this purpose.
MercoSur has not worked for them, Argentina is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE trading partner and even your inept commie Prez is looking for alternatives.
The FTA is done, maybe there are a few details to iron out yet but it will happen sooner than later. It does require Uruguay to abandon MeroSur though...that'll be a blow to CFK and her papi Chavez.
And it won't be on CNN, Uruguay is too small and barely anyone has ever heard of it in the North.

Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, the law only counts for English people, or better said it only counts for people who could actually back up their threats. How long do you think your ship will last, a good SWAT team could take them out, if there are any retired SAS in Ghana I'm sure one or two of them could take the ship in under an hour. Poor deluded little busboy.
Violence and war is the currency of the Bankrupt.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0First it was our Prez hindering, now it's Mercosur... You know what, yanqui? All I hear is bla, bla, bla and a twisted version of reality.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We want no FTA with you
Mercosur doesn't want an FTA with you
CELAC doesn't want anything to do with you
But hey, in your head, we are this -| |- close to a trade agreement...
Keep dreaming fool...
Are you a little dumb? Yes your commie Prez put it on the back burner when he was elected AND the MercoSur agreement would have to be nullified to do an FTA with USA. Two actions same reality.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 02:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I didn't say they are close I said the FTA was already written, negotiated and done....can you read your own links?

Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So proove your words. Is it so difficult?
By the way, Uruguay was a member of Mercosur long before Mujica became President. At no point has his decision decided the outcome of a fantasy FTA with the USA.
Did you not read your own link? It proves MY point retard.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:03 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Under the Mercosur agreement, this is probably about as close as Uruguay will come to a FTA with the US, unless the Free Trade Area of the Americas somehow becomes a reality.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina and Brazil have been criticized for promoting protectionist policies to the detriment of Uruguay and Paraguay, the two considerably smaller Mercosur nations. Uruguayan Vice President Danilo Astori went so far as to say in March that “Argentina completely ignores the Mercosur treaty and spirit.”
Despite growing disillusionment with Mercosur among the people of Uruguay, it’s unlikely that the country will leave Mercosur. In fact, President Jose Mujica has promised to “fight to the death” for the future of Mercosur.
In the end, Mercosur’s restrictions on bilateral trade agreements will present the greatest hurdle to establishing a full-blown FTA between the US and Uruguay.
What in there prooves your point?
That Mujica doesn't want any FTA with you? Indeed
That Mercosur doesn't want FTA's with you? Indeed
That Uruguay isn't leaving Mercosur? Indeed
That you are a charlatan? Indeed
Your point is?
Try to stay calm Guzz. Remember what happened a couple of months ago when you started losing it like this. You ended up throwing all of your toys out of the pram and hurling abuse at everyone. Then you went through a series of Mercopress tags and also tried to tell us that you were part of some sort of organised team gathering evidence against the West or some shit like that and that you'd gathered enough evidence to bring the whole lot down on our heads. It wouldn't happen until March you said. Need I go on?

Does the US navy or British navy face charges for pointing guns at pirates? Because an illegal boarding is the same as piracy, or does the law only count for English people.
Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Right dickhead let me explain, the clue is in your stupid statement. We point guns at pirates because.........................wait for it ...............they're fuckin pirates the word pirate you should understand, if they boarded and took away an Rg tanker would they be pirates then, of course they would you dick, pirates don't care who's ship they target including YOURS. They board tankers and anything else with AK47's and take hostages for ransom, nationality does not matter to them Rg, British, Us, Russian, Afghan, they don't give a fook mate . So where is your fuckin Navy protecting the innocent...........................oh sorry I forgot. I really hope one of your tankers is next that the Pirates board and hold to ransom and see your pathetic response, you'll probably blame us for not protecting them enough, you pathetic fool

Nov 10th, 2012 - 03:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Eyes wide shut, eyes wide shut.
I think this is fun. The crew of a vessel for which the argie government specifically waived immunities face local authorities with loaded weapons. Surely the article's headline should be something like Argentine Military Maniacs Respond to Port Officials with Armed Resistance? As I recall, Ghana has 2 light infantry battalions, an infantry regiment, an armoured regiment and an artillery regiment in close proximity. So this should be quite simple. Move up the artillery regiment and zero in the guns. Move up the armoured regiment for the frontal approach supported by the infantry. From the seaward side, anything available. Ghana does have a number of military helicopters from which to drop grenades and the like. In the old days, the greatest dangers for the crews of wooden wind-powered vessels were falling masts and splinters from the woodwork. Hopefully, the Port of Tema has salvage equipment. So, open fire and cut the masts off in 10-foot sections. Having masts, yardarms and the like crashing around their heads and through the deck should cause argies to re-assess the situation. Bring the sights lower. Shells smashing through the gunwhales and the felled masts could be quite good. Bring the sights a little lower. More or less horizontal to smash straight through the hull. And at what cost? 15 argie bodies. Which can be tossed overboard and lost. The other 30 will surrender. Bawling, crying, defecating, frightened, grizzling, peeing, puking. trembling, wanking (last time). Could there be wounded? Nah. If it's not dead, make it dead. Give the colonialists a taste of the old days. Spears. Decapitation. And, just to round out a proper appreciation of argie attitudes, impalement. It is important that all this is videoed. CFK will want the DVD. Off stage right: Hysterical British and Falkland Islands laughter! And the cost? 45 argie criminal pirate corpses. It's all good!

I can not believe the Ports and Harbours Authority are handling them with kid gloves.... It's their Port, their rules and if the ARA Libertad doesn't want to comply then shove them on a sandbank out of the way.

Deadbeat ;)
@119 Let's get down to your level. You don't have the intellectual capacity of a brain-dead turd. As far as I can tell you utter your most profound comments when you fart. Must be interesting when you ARE a fart. Suggestion: F*** off! Become a useful argie. DIE!!
Nov 11th, 2012 - 02:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@127 At it's current level, the last important visit that Uruguay had was the Admiral Graf Spee in 1939.
@135 Does that mean that you're a real faggot?
@141 You have to understand differences. In Britain there is a tiny minority of putrid wankers. B_K is an example. An offering from the Slimy Necrophiliac Ponces. In argieland, these things are the 99.7% majority. Going to prove that sh*te sticks together!
@148 Have you tried intelligence and English?
@162 You're trying to appear intelligent, aren't you? Bit of advice. Not working!
@165 Whoops! Wrong. Thick Guzzle!
@181 Oh dear. An argie, queer faggot with delusions of grandeur. Trust me, I have no reservations about ripping/cutting your head off, shoving it down a toilet (face up, mouth open) and crapping on/in it. Would you like to volunteer to (sit) on my 8-foot steel stake? Think of the pleasure to be felt as it works its way up. And the uncertainty. Will it come out of your mouth? Your nose? Your eye? The top of your head? And all self-lubricated!
@185 - toooldtodieyoung
Nov 11th, 2012 - 02:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well I know where Guzz is from. He's from Argentina.
However, he's so embarrassed to be an Argentinian that he swears blind that he is a Uruguayan/Swedish/Dane.
He is also a marine engineer/a student or more likely unemployed, spitting on the very hands that feed him.
He is also a 70 year old 'twenty-something', with an obvious poor memory, because he can't keep up with his own lies.
He is also brilliant at English grammar and often points out when other posters get their spelling or grammar wrong, but gets upset when his own failings in that area are pointed out to him.
He also hates the military, whilst at the same time supporting dictatorships, and a socialist who states on minute that he respects life (constantly mentioning how the evil British and Americans are killing women and children in Afghanistan), but supports the setting up of concentration camps to dispose of all those who do not support his own political dream - to have all of South America forced into a Socialist Republic, run by Argentina (despite the fact that he is supposedly Uruguayan/Swedish/Danish - you get the picture).
However, back to the thread. I wonder if Ghana will sent their Army and Navy to remove the crew of the ARA Libertad should they be foolish enough to wave their weapons at Ghanaian civilians again?
Of course, the Argentine government will try and play the victim again, but it will be well documented how the Argentine sailors broke the law.
Serving a prison sentence in Ghana probably wasn't on the minds of these sailors when they set sail from Argentina. I wonder how long they'd get for threatening behaviour and/or assault?
Argentina is doing itself no favours with these stupid childish actions.
Nov 11th, 2012 - 02:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The Ghanaians are within their rights to ask for the Libertad to be moved to another part of the port.
Moving the Libertad has nothing to do with the pending case of Argentinian debt.
It would not harm Argentina to allow the vessel to be moved, it would show maturity on Argentina's part if they allowed the move.
This needs to be approached in a calm, controlled, intelligent manner. Shoot the stupid, argie bastards. They will not be missed. (Double entendre?) Is there anything argie worth retaining? No! Scorched earth followed by British colonisation.

Nov 12th, 2012 - 01:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Interesting man Artigas, although he did hold many Anglo values and ideas
”Artigas admired the United States of America and was said to always carry a copy of the United States Constitution with him. He wanted the United Provinces of the River Plate government to be based on the same federalist ideas as the USA. These ideals went against what the Buenos Aires government of the time wanted (a centralized state; some even supported the idea of putting a European monarch in charge of the newly independent lands), but he managed to gain the support of some other provinces. Because of this, the Buenos Aires government supported the Portuguese invasion of the Eastern Bank.”
Much ado about colonialism, n'est-ce pas?

Nov 12th, 2012 - 02:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Hang in there boys. Ask Ghana for a 20.000.000.00 U$ service charge fee. If they don't pay take it take it to the same court blackmailing Argentina for the 20.000.000.00 U$, to willingly buy troubled bonds couldn't take more work then moving a ship, unless the terrorist are already running the world. O excuse me I forgot that the CIA and MI6 are still active and operating around the world.

Nov 12th, 2012 - 05:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Your link in no way proves the close affiliation between Penguin News and MercoPress that you are suggesting.
MercoPress will gather its information from many sources world-wide, it is a news agency and some will come from articles published by Penguin News, some from the BA Herald, and from of its many other sources.
You really are suffering from a persecution complex if you seriously believe anyone would delete your post just because it contains the link that you provided.
It is in Spanish and not allowed. Simple.
Nov 12th, 2012 - 06:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Guzz is setting up an artificial self-fulfilling prophecy by breaking a simple rule to create his desired reaction to his challenge.
If he had posted a translation, I'm sure it would be left alone.
Sorry Guzzano, very amateur, very transparent.
I, for one, have reported the post to the Editor, as inappropriate - not being posted in English

Nov 12th, 2012 - 06:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0That is just what Guzz would want.
He knows the posting the link and the Spanish text would fall foul of the MP rules on posting in English.
Had he posted the link and an English translation his post would not be deleted, but he then would not be able to complain that MP is picking on him.

Think.... They removed my comments about the people behind MP.
I'm quite sure I didn't break the houserules...
I say:
But; you did break the House Rules.................. The unwritten ones......
Listen, botija......
I had a very similar debate a long time ago in here.
At that time, many Non Turnips were arguing that this Place was Independent and Unbiased.......
After being properly linked and informed, those Non Turnips have kept very quiet about that Issue.....
As you can see today, only the Real Turnips believe this place to be Independent and Unbiased...
PS:
Did you read the news about Gardel?

#303 Excellent. Glad to see not everyone in the Ghanaian leadership is a craven supporter of the vultures, I imagine there will be many like him in the Ghanaian military and society who hate the humiliation of Nkrumah's country turning itself into a battering ram against progressive Argentina
