“Mr Lancaster was keen to reassure Islanders that recent announcements from the British Government that reservists would be part of the Falklands garrison did not imply any reduction in military capability”

What a bunch of insecure scary cats these Brits in Malvinas are, they need to be resssured by papa Camoron all the time.

Well, being invaded and experiencing extended hostile intent from a neighbour could be the cause.

Not that the Islanders are particularly insecure at the minute, the Argentinian armed services couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Marcos- you believe newspapers too much!! This was all media hype - nobody here is one bit bothered by more TA,s rotating through the Falklands as the resident Infantry Company - we are well used to them over several years - and very proffesional they are.
Anyway once the withdrawl from Afghanistan is complete we are likley to have considerably more infantry numbers rotating through the Islands on training - as they have excellent combined service training facilities here.
Yes agree with No 2 - the only difference we ahev in the Islands between Argemntina of 1982 ans Argentina of 2012 is that in today,s war there is no lead in the sky - but Argentina is very definatley still engaged in WAR against 3000 people though!

2 RobWilliams “the Argentinian armed services couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.”
I totally agree with you on that Rob, but if that is the case what is the excuse to send from far away London nuclear subs, warships and thousands of troops all the time?
Kelper insecurity, British imperialism mentality or both?

3 Islander1 “Marcos- you believe newspapers too much!! This was all media hype”

Islander, Are you accusing MercoP(enguin)News to do that?
You need to talk with the Deputy Editor John Fowler then.

They are insecure because they know that will be the laughing stock in the whole world if Argentina invades the islands again.

Also they are insecure because their army is really in bad shape, exhausted and with not desire to engage in a really bloody war where they will lose more men than in Iraq and Afghanistan all together.

Also they need these things called carries to perform any kind of strike back and have air cover.

I really will be really concerns and insecure in their actual weak position.

It seems to me that the ONLY people making a song and dance out of what is a now a routine deployment is the Argentine Trolls on this forum.

Given that friend RobWilliams @ 2 pointed out that “the Argentinian armed services couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag” I would ask, IS this “Kelper” insecurity??? sounds more like Argentinian insecurity. to me!

How far away are the Falklands Islands from the UK? 14,000km? what's that in old money? I thought it was 8,000 Miles.......

Given that the British army has training area's in Kenya and Canada the Falklands is another training area............

So lets get this right the British who are in the top 3 militarizes of the world in terms of sophistication, budget and are very battle hardened are suddenly worried about Argentina's non-existent military! LOL

We are so insecure haha! Meanwhile back on planet earth its called being prepared! And as for the weak position, you've not explained how that works because back on planet earth those islands are far better protected than they've ever been which to anyone who is sane would view it as a strong position.

Better hurry up and invade before our 2 new supercarriers come on line!!! Mind you must get your mighty sailing frigate realeased first and your broken corvette that germans are refusing to fix unless RGs stump up some dollar. Why dont you build your own warships??? half are German and the rest from the UK. Remember your carrier that ran away that was British, I am sure if you tried you could actually make a warship. I await a reply with a picture of HMS Astute grounded on a sand bank, I will reply with pictures of your rusting hulks and non existant submarine fleet.

Good luck with the invasion jajajajaja remember pay all your bills first or the FI will impound your mighty navy.

That must be DB's expert opinion.

An expert witness, professional witness or judicial expert is a witness, who by virtue of education, training, skill, or experience, is believed to have expertise and specialised knowledge in a particular subject beyond that of the average person..

Particularly like the bit about “knowledge in a particular subject beyond that of an average person.”

That would be the bit about invading and and being the laughing stock the world then!!!!

    @4

Because last time some nutter was in power in Argentina during a shitty economy and the UK Govt weren't “insecure”, around 900 people lost their lives, the majority Argentine. You may want that to happen again but the rest of us don't, we've no wish to hold an Argentinian turkey shoot over it.

Seeming as Puricelli has flat out said that the Falklands Garrison is the only reason they're not under Argentine rule that's just proof why it's neccesary.

Surely denying your government the ability to think they could get away with invading the Falklands (in itself a laughable possibility) and preventing the senseless loss of Argentinian lives can only be a good thing.

Well its the only option open to Argentina now that Ban ki-moon has been doing his fat lady routine.

Aint likely to be as successful as the last time though, even if they begged Brazil to do it for them....and we all know how it ultimately ended last time.

Personally I hope the deterrent remains strong enough to prevent some Idiot Argentine Government to try again, they wasted enough lives last time on a lie, and it would be the same now, or XXX years in the future: a big fat lie to distract the voters.

I am rather confused here “if Argentina invades the islands again.”
So, that is on YOUR agenda. If I were an Islander, I would be scared of rhetoric like this and be glad of the British military presence .
Britain will be the laughing stock of the whole world - sorry, but Argentina holds the number one position here and will do so for as long as your present policies continue.
What bloody war do you envisage? Against China. If so I would agree with you.
As the UK have no intention of any military campaign on the S. American mainland where is this “war” going to take place.
As for our troops being exhausted and demoralised we would not need to send them to the Falklands. A couple of Boy Scout troops from Glasgow could take care of any Argies - ask your pal BK if you doubt this !
As your grasp of military matters is non existent I will explain things simply.
There is a big long concrete “road” in the Falklands where large aluminium flying machines can land and take off.
They can also be used to mount air strikes against bad men who wish to steal and enslave population. No need for big ship in this case.
“I really will be really concerns and insecure in their actual weak position.”
That is very comforting having you express your concern for the Falkland Islanders but there is really no need to do so. I am sure that they feel perfectly secure with their status quo.

Well boys no need to be rude or upset...

I have to admit that I wrongly mistaken the sentence when I wrote “that you will be the laughing stock in the whole world if Argentina invades the islands again”

    The correct sentence would be...

“The world will keep laughing of you” because you already are the laughing stock leading by CaMoron and coffer clowns.

#8 ''Also they need these things called carries to perform any kind of strike back and have air cover.''

With Mount Pleasant Airbase, there is no need for an Aircraft Carrier. The Airbus tanker can go direct from the UK to the Falklands with some Typhoons in tow. That would quickly reinforce air cover within a day.
By the way, why did the Argentine government protest at Typhoons replacing Tornados at MPA? Is it because it is a superior aircraft than the Argentine air force can field?

#24 ''According with English source Scots are not good soldiers at all and they always get they @ss burned''

“They are insecure because they know that will be the laughing stock in the whole world if Argentina invades the islands again.”

Wrong. If Argentina attacked again it would be the laughing stock of the world, like it was last time.

“Also they are insecure because their army is really in bad shape, exhausted and with not desire to engage in a really bloody war where they will lose more men than in Iraq and Afghanistan all together.”

    Wrong again.

“Also they need these things called carries to perform any kind of strike back and have air cover.”

Again, wrong. Argentina has no means of TAKING the islands so no carrier is needed. Also WRONG again about air cover. The islands have typhoons which far, far, far superior at air cover than harriers were.

“I really will be really concerns and insecure in their actual weak position.”

Compared to what Argentina has, those islands are fort Knox.

“By the way, why did the Argentine government protest at Typhoons replacing Tornados at MPA? Is it because it is a superior aircraft than the Argentine air force can field?”

Not being funny but as flawed as it was the Tornado F3 was superior to anything that the FAA could throw at it. It was only replaced because it was being phased out of service altogether because we regard them as obsolete now. Could you imagine the cost of maintaining just four Tornadoes when the standard combat type was a Typhoon? Just to say to the Argentine government, : “look, we are not militarising anything and to prove it we are keeping some obsolete old Tonkers just to patrol Falklanda airspace?”

Yeah right. Like that was ever going to happen.

    @ 28

You seem to have missed my query.

I know the Tornado was a fine aircraft. It served with distinction for quite a long time and with it's avionic upgrades, was still an advanced multi role aircraft.

I just wondered why the Argentines threw a hissy fit about the Typhoon being based at MPA as a replacement for the Tornado.

“I really will be really concerns and insecure in their actual weak position.”

OK Danny get on the phone to your boss Maximo, he can ring mummy CFK who will tell Putridjelly to invade.

Then we'll see what happens in the absence of a British Aircraft carrier when the pride of the Argentinian 'scrapyard challenge' sets sail and The Argentine Air Force museum takes to the air.

I predict that (though you are welcome to disagree):

1/- the majority of attacking Argentine aircraft will be blown out of the sky.
2/-Most invading Argentine ships will become seabed wildlife reserves.
3/-Argentina will lose at least two airfields.
4/-Any ships spared by the Royal Navy will be allowed to dock in the Falklands and Paul Singer will be invited down to take possession of them.

Could you please wait till the deep water port is built to invade so that more captured Argentine warships can be accommodated prior to their annexation by NML? I am sure that the Falkland courts will be more than pleased to ensure that more of Argentina's debts are paid off.

@1 It's only fair to reassure the Islanders. Fortunately, any British Territorial Army unit is quite capable of seeing off the entire argie army! The TA provides units to Afghanistan, so they are combat-ready as well!
@4 Don't need an “excuse”. We can do whatever we want in British territory.
@7 Alright. The phrase is actually relevant to the different political parties in the British Parliament. But just to satisfy you: “No dispute over Falklands issues with anybody important”. There, satisfied?
@8 Believe that if you want. Britain has 9,500 personnel in Afghanistan. The current strength of the British Army is 260,300. And, no, we don't need “carries”. More Typhoons can be flown down to our Islands. And some Tornados. And more troops if necessary. If we are so “weak”, why don't you send over some targets? Incidentally, we have some “big” ships with flat tops. Ideal for flying off Apache gunships. Remember how we did that in Libya? With all that lovely armament capable of blowing a hole in a tank. Or a “warship”. Didn't you lose a “submarine” to one of our little helicopters 30 years ago? The Apache is a trifle more “capable”.
    @14 Cautious - yes. Nervous - not a chance.
@24 Whatever. Not getting you very far, is it? Don't worry, sonny. I believe the Royal Marines are still holding a grudge. And the Gurkhas are really upset that you ran so fast. They really like lopping heads off. Incidentally, ever noticed you can never see Typhoons on the ground at MPA? Wonder how many are really there? Is there really an “underground” base? What do we do with the nuclear subs that are “retired”?
@29 Still have 124 Tornados. Ground attack. Guns, missiles, bombs. Nuclear-capable.

@38 Are you having a problem being a “female” faggot? More batteries!

Why can't we have argies on a day trip to be met by Gurkhas?

Here's an idea. “What's the name of the place you're visiting?” “Malvinas!” “Sorry, wrong answer. You can now choose to lose foot, leg, genitals, arm, hand or head.” The charge for this lifetime souvenir is 5,000 pesos. That's for the choice. If you don't pay, we'll cut off whatever suits us. Your inability to realise that EIGHT FALKAND ISLAND POLITICIANS (ie not 80) have managed to secure varied investment for their oilfields whereas the (100s, more?) huge numbers of elected Argentine politicians have managed to get ZERO investment in the 3rd largest shale oil reserves in the world rather blows your innacurate assumption well out of the water doesn't it?

By simple deductive processes it is the Argentine government that is populated by retards of the highest order. In fact I would go so far as to say that an average British Chav wearing arse dragger trousers and speaking with a total vocabulary of ten words, would be better at running Argentina than its present politicians.
Lets remind you of the sheer incompetence of a government that can't even guarantee its' warships can end up in a foreign port without being annexed.

However unlikey best any sea kayak microlight hotair ballon or converted trawler etc etc gets picked up and arrested before any argentine flag gets unfurled or utube videos get made.

    Yeah! sure mate.

BTW do you know that the argies can win easily war against UK by just paying bribes to the MOD and senior officers?

After all if what Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson were doing since long time ago to get classify info from war zones like in Iraq and Afghanistan for The Sun, News of the world, etc.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/phone-hacking/9689889/Rebekah-Brooks-and-Andy-Coulson-charged-with-illegally-paying-officials.html

Someone also told me that a good trafficking route for cocaine given to the Royal Navy will pay off.

    What do you think?

Well doesn’t matter you can always can fine a good MP to do the proper job, after all they like to hide they expenses to taxpayer so they cannot be hanged from the Tower Bridge.

    MPs allowed to-hide expenses

    @50 - Dany

You're funny! Especially when you think about how much of Argentina's money has 'disappeared' during CFK's reign.

Also, did you know that British Politicians are some of the lowest paid politicians in the world?

They make up using expenses, although they should be fully accountable for what they spend.

As for the 'paying' of bribes to senior military officers, I assume you are referring to the RETIRED senior military officers, which has been discovered and now had a stop put to it, as it was illegal.

You see Dany, that's the difference between the UK and Argentina. If someone is found to be corrupt in Britain they are brought to justice. If someone is found to be corrupt in Argentina, then they're probably in the government. Just where did CFK get the money to build all those hotels in Argentina that ONLY accept US dollars?

Besides, Argentina has NO MONEY. You can't even pay a measly US$20 millions to get your little sailing ship back, or pay the company that makes the engines for your ships to provide spares, let alone have enough to try and bribe someone in Britain who would actually have the power to hand over the Falklands...oh wait a minute, there is NO ONE in Britain who has the power to 'hand over' the Falklands to anyone, only the Falklanders have that right. So you're stuffed there aren't you?

Poor Argentina, going down the tubes AGAIN because you only have CORRUPT politicians who only CARE about themselves and lining their own pockets. Inflation at 25%, Unions on strike, the people protesting...it doesn't sound like a good receipe to me.

As for the phone tapping, it was illegal, they've been caught, they are now facing justice.

Actual justice, they can't bribe their way out of this.

So Dany, you've produced old stories, and those that have been resolved by the relevant parties being brought to justice.

However, the main point is that support for the Falklands is non-paritsan, and completely unified across the politcal spectrum. :)

Resulting in the deaths of many Argentinians (they haven't a snowflakes chance in hell this time), as the last time the opposition was 80 marines-and they didn't surrender without a fight.

You don't like your countrymen very much do you? wishing them to die in huge numbers.

Would you like to tell us where they are all going to get buried next time?

    @56 Troy Tempest

You are right Mr Tempest, but Britain is not a modern country in anyway.
Looks like a village of the Middle Age, is still a kingdom and until 1982 you liked to kill people by hanging them on bridges.

And with the complicity of your corrupted police then mask those deaths as suicides.

    “1982: 'God's banker' found hanged.

Known as God's banker for his links with the Vatican, 62-year-old Roberto Calvi was the chairman of Banco Ambrosiano in Milan and a central figure in a complex web of international fraud and intrigue.”

“On 23 July an inquest jury returned a verdict of suicide. This was overturned in 1983 when a second inquest delivered an open verdict on the death.”

“In October 2002 forensic experts appointed by Italian judges concluded that the banker had been murdered.”

    @62 Dany

Your link talks of an Italian banker murdered by Italians in London, under Blackfriars Bridge.

    Hardly a gruesome state-sanctioned murder.
On the other hand, it is well known that Argentina tortured and murdered at least 30,000 'dissidents' or 'undesirables' under the dictatorship of the 1970's.

“Sorry, but is the way it is...”

Dany, I see no humour in your story.

Tell me something please if someone live in Britain since lets say 1970 and gets NIN and also British passport is that person British or still lets say Jamaican?

How does work you multicultural society? Can you explain me please?

Ah! I seem to know now if the guy is executive of a bank, rich and famous sure is British like the Queen.
But if the same guy is poor and got caught stealing an ice cream in Brixton is a bloody Jamaican?

    Am I right?

“Frankie the strangler” have live in Britain since middle ’60 and in the ’70 he become British according with Di Carlo son investigation. He was well know among British criminal underworld in London because he was Heroin trafficker and supplies English mafia.

Now what is your explanation for the Scotland Yard investigation?

Are they so incompetents to make the mistake to confuse a murder with a suicide or they are so corrupted to cover up the whole stuff?

Just waiting for you interesting answer...

There is no dispute over the Falklands. Only Malvinistas crying over what they cannot steal.

They cannot prove their claim, or they would have gone to the ICJ.
They cannot steal it, nor try to blockade it, nor anything else that would make any difference.

The Falkland Islands are independent, growing in stature and deserve the best of success.

There has not been a resounding argument why Argentina should have them, or they would have been to the ICJ already.

Malvinistas, keep dreaming. It is all you will ever have. the more enlightened Argentines will worry about their own country, or try to bring a business to the Islands to further prosper themselves and the Falklands community.
