Can you imagine the uproar if an Argentine company's office had been attacked on the Falklands....

Castro is a bit of a wet lettuce isn't she? She really doesn't convey anything ambassadorial at all.... playing !hard to find” ans obviously hiding from invitations is kinda dumb, to say the least.

Unless she deliberately wants to hike the attention she gets, of course....
bit of a drama-queen like her boss in fact. ;-0

TMBOA can continue her tirade. She's doing well, masses of trade disputes, not paying debts, strikes, power cuts, having her ships impounded in foreign ports, high inflation, large protests against her in the capital, stealing company assets, screaming 'MILITARIZATION' over someone flying a bright yellow rescue helicopter 400 miles from her homeland, and that's only the things that we know about from this year alone.

Meanwhile, the Falklanders will press on, growing their economy, diversifying their income streams and carry on regardless.

Good luck Falklanders, may you enjoy the fruits of your labours which you richly deserve. The ignorance coming from the capital city of your near neighbour should bother you not.

Good luck TMBOA, may you be overthrown, have ''your'' assets stripped from you, and left to languish in Venezuala, acting as Hugo's Courtesan. Just don't drag Argentina down to the level of where your nipples would be without the plastic surgery.

there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the identity of pirates in the South Atlantic.

Only one country is attempting to colonise, harrass, intimidate, steal, disobeys international law, ignore it's debt obligation..etc etc....

The Argentine Govt. are indeed outlaws and pirates, end of.

When I get back to England I shall let the FCO know that Maximo was behind the masked raid. Not physically because I doubt they could make a mask large enough and he certainly couldn't run away afterwards but they are his dogs being unleashed. (Obviously, the FCO already know)

Is Argentina aware that in English and in Spanish “enclave” has the same meaning. The Falkland Islands are totally surrounded by international waters and, thus, are NOT an enclave.

I am so pleased that this arrogant woman has, at least, been made to respect diplomatic niceties and has been made obliged to face the displeasure of the British people.

    - More worthless threats that we know you can't backup with action. It's irrelevant anyway since we know anyone who tried such a thing would meet the might of the Royal Navy and have a rapid death.

Anyway back to the subject, maybe its time the UK removed Castro from her position and insisted Argentina sends someone who is competent.

He is just a malcontent living outside of the Canadian society where his Argentine parents sought refuge when they could not prosper in Argentina. He is Canadian but lives a fantasy that his parent's homeland is paradise. I have suggested many times that he should move there but for some unknown reason he does NOT want to live in paradise.

British diplomacy is an oxymoron. Their diplomats the last two centuries have functioned with a colonialist militaristic threat behind their backs. They really think people “complying” with them during this time was a result of their masterfully astute interlocutor skills.

Now that they are no longer a major military threat in the world, they don't know how to operate “diplomatically”, which is why they are increasingly getting into trouble in many parts of the world.

They dont obey reolutions, they dont respect international law, they kill hundred of thousand inocents civilians, kids, women, etc in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lybia just the last few years........and still lecture others ?.

I said “major”. They can still cause bane and iniquity in specific theaters, but they are no longer a global menace, no European country is. But they still pursue diplomacy as if they were... it is a natural disconnect that happens to all declining powers.

The point was, that Europeans always laud, and preen, their diplomatic “skills”. There were no such skills.

I could also claim to have deft skills in this area, when holding a gun to your head and you being disarmed.

I never said anything about terror on anyone I was cheering for Argentina to apply the same laws UN gives australia against pirats who fish 6 kilograms of fish. We can also apply the laws UK uses in Antartica to take boats of fishermen and auction them. I think that if UK want to play fair Argentina has a lot of catching up to do, I support a nuclear defense program 100% made in Argentina as well as any international laws that can be used to punish the pirates, as is done by countries everywhere, this is not terrorism its international laws I think Argentina not only has the right but the obligation to punish this pirates. Let's cheer on and do as the UK and Australia do.

Argentina would do well to start listening to the more caring people of the world. A recent letter from a visiting 1982 War Vet summed the Falkland Islands up when he wrote . If only the rest of the world would show such hospitality and friendliness as Falkland Islanders the world would be a better place to live in.

Pity that some choose to live by the sword. Argentina is slowley strangling the whole of South America and one day we are going to see a virtual repeat of the 1982 happen all over again. Way back then Argentina was in serious economic turmoil and to try and win her people over attacke the Falklands. Up till then most of the Latin American neighbours supported Argentina untill she invaded the Islands and realised that it was not going to save the leader ship they decided to reject the whinging Argies. Now they are all doing it again. Why the hell does all these Countries fall for the same stupid trap. Do they not realise that they too will one day suffer as well from the rest of the world. Argentina has went one step to far this time because they are interefering with international tourists and I am willing to bet that it will not be to long before these operators firmly tell Argentina whereto go.

Because the UK is a disreputable government who is seen as a buffoon on the world stage, so no one is suprised the UK gov insults other countries, they do this as a matter of course. If one had to summon diplomats everytime the UK showed disdain and derision for another nation and culture, they migtht as well move all UK diplomats to the presidencial palace of the country in question.

Nothing to do with a mouse or elephant. Read above.

The UK has NEVER respected the “other side's” opinion. It's always been you think like we think, to do as we demand (not as we do), or the highway. Name one time the UK has agreed with the “other side” and accepted their view.

Why would anyone consider the opinion of such a body? We all know what they expect, subjugation of the masses to Uncle Adolf's political ideology and significant growth through acquisition of other people's territory. Major assets and your economy are now governed by members of the Fourth Reich Comittee who have basically done little more than cause ruination. Then they stole your foreign reserves.

You don't listen to anyone, democratic or not. Notice you did not neither deny what I said nor showed any example.

The UK has no tolerance for other nations and their views. They even reject the Germans and the French if they don't cow 100% to the British position. The concept of compromise does not exist in your culture and because you have had military back-up the last 200 years you haven't needed it. But that era is over Empire Britain is bye-bye yet you still behave diplomatically as such... you are starting to pay for that.

    @14 MI6.
@19 “He is no terrorist threat.” He isn't? Are you sure? But I already paid!
    @20 But he isn't a man!
@24 Well, you know, we are aware that argieland is stupid enough to try it. Fortunately, the captains of Royal Navy ICBM submarines are sane, sensible men. I think. You never can tell until afterwards. Just THINK, 16 nuclear missiles with a total of 160 nuclear warheads, all headed for argieland. Could it be today? Tomorrow? Next week? A pressie for Christmas? You never know what might set someone off. Probably best for all argies to say nothing about the Falklands and stay at least 300 miles away.
@29 Signed it. But I see there are a number of petitions seeking action against argieland and mercosur. Everybody should sign all of them.
@33 So? MercoPress isn't “the law”. And argies always break laws anyway!
@35 Absolutely essential to be able to “punish” animals. Animals = argies. And venezuelans. And bolivians. And ecuadorians.
@36 UNSC 1363, 1378, 1383 and 1386. UNSC 1973. Try again. Or watch for the UNSC resolution on arieland.
@37 Finger's on the trigger. And feeling itchy!
@39 Or, alternatively, let's destroy argieland. Who would miss it?
@44 But, alex, you have been adjudged to be a terrorist “organisation”. The “War on Terror” is still ongoing. And you are on the list. Is there a “person” looking for you?
@50 “if I am hiding in Canada this must mean brits hide in Islas malvinas”. Where? Doesn't exist. Brits don't hide. They are on the Falkland Islands. Making more money than an argie could dream of. And evermore will be so!
@59 Look on the bright side. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. And so argieland WILL die.
@62 Well, Simon, we don't really appreciate histrionic tantrums by over-age tarts here in Britain. I think she should fly back to argieland. Mind you, she doesn't have to get there. Got any “friends”?
@71 Why would we listen to a tosser like you? But here's a tip. STFU and FO. Then we won't talk to you!

@71 your argument has been weighed, measured and found wanting. No one here is going to argue that politicians the world over are snakes and weasels of the highest order. The issue here is that we have safeguards in place to prevent them from ruining our society, you do not. Not even your weekly rewritten constitution is going to prevent the upcoming dawn of Maximo's Fourth Reich.

If the offices of a shipping company are attacked by the militant wing of a terrorist organisation that is inextricably linked to the president of Argentina, and run by her son, what do you expect the British Government to do? Give us an example?

The commonly used phrase is, 'we don't negotiate with terrorists'; so why should this situation be any different?

@73 Which story is that? The story that your president is inextricably linked to an organisation not unlike the SS of nazi germany? Why do you think they called in your ambassador if the UK government didn't believe the people behind the intimidation weren't somehow related to your government? So, it's just myself and the UK government that believe my story then.

My issue here is that it's okay for you to not want to believe that a totalitarian regime isn't being built under your nose, but that you seem to think we shouldn't be able to see it happening.

    Brown Shirts - Tick.
    Rule by Decree - Tick
Hitler Youth School Program - Tick
Discussion of KFC being in power whilst not being president - Tick
Ruling committee of La campora, international terrorists - Tick
La Campora being in control of key government and business positions - Tick

Now I'm no sherlock holmes, but I can still see the hallmarks of a totalitarian regime being constructed.

So I ask again, what should the UK government have done?

Whether a Chicago paper, the FT, a mexican write, a Brazilian magazine, a Spanish editorial, or a German analyist... they all repeat the same old hackneyed tale about how Argentina should be a world economy power, and military leader in the region and blah blah, and prosperous like Canada or Australia.

I don't think she can be easily deported.
This would surely be a Human Rights issue.
There would be 'a risk to her life' if she were returned to Argentina, (...“Off with her head!!!”),
and would any other country want her.
    I think not.
I think she should be taken to the immediate vicinity of the Ecuadorian Embassy ... and then be told that “Your life might be in danger.... Run!”

OK, she was summoned to attend a FO meeting
    ... but did she attend?
..... if she turned up, was she given a 'telling off' ?
.... if she failed to turn up, should she be deported

    35 Tito The Clown Troll

Oh, I stand in awe of your well thought out argument....not!!!!
    lets just see shall we......

“they don't know how to operate “diplomatically”, which is why they are increasingly getting into trouble in many parts of the world”

In 1982, Sir Anthony Parsons ( Britain's ambassador to the UN ) pulled off what even the American's called “A stunning display of diplomatic professionism”

”Even Mrs KirkPatrick ( The American ambassador ), who could ill conceal her pro-Argentine sympathies, later used the the incident to compare British diplomacy with American “amateurism””

That got Resolution 502 passed through the security council WITHIN 48 HOURS with a two thirds majority.

    And AGAIN at 37!!!!!

“I could also claim to have deft skills in this area, when holding a gun to your head and you being disarmed.”

It's getting very hard to underestimate you!!!!!

I take then that you have not heard of the old saying ( African in origin ) which states:-

“Talk softly and carry a big stick”

which, by the way, the American's have inscribed on the inside of their Nuclear powered aircraft carrier the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

So really you've just f**ked yourself ( AGAIN ) in public

THEN you say that ElaineB is free to be a moron. I would invite you to remember that everyone is free to be a moron, but that you are abusing the priviledge

You will, of course, note that Nostrolldamus The 2nd / Tito the Clown Troll is using “Projection” in his rants at 35, 37, 69 and 71??

If you merely substitute the word “UK” with the word “Argentina” and the frustration and anger towards his own country is glaringly obvious.

It's the same tactic that playground bullies use to make themselves feel better with there own rancid / septic / miserable lives. They target the one who is better than them acidemically / socially and then they “Project” all of their short comings onto that target in the hope of being seen in a more favourable light.

In this case, as we all know, the UK is leaps and bounds ahead of Argentina and so of course they ( and their trolls ) are going to blame us for everything that is their own fault.

Once you know this, and learn how to read the signs then every outburst, every post that critises the UK is telling you more about the frustrations of the poster rather than being an attack on Great Britian.

Edward VIII The Traitor King (part 1 of 11)

The Royal House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha / Windsor

Mohamed Fayed calls Prince Philip a Nazi racist

“Of the Duke of Edinburgh, Mr Fayed said: “He would not accept my son, anyone who is a person of different religion, naturally tanned, curly hair, they will not accept that he will have anything to do with the future King.
”Prince Philip rules the country behind the scenes. I think Prince Philip is the actual head of the Royal Family. He is a racist. He was brought up by his aunt who married one of Hitler's generals.”

Living in the past again? AG sank some ships during the Falklands conflict BUT lost big-time to a smaller but much superior force from 8,000 miles away. You just cannot get past that can you.

And now you have got it wrong AGAIN! Why would we need carriers? The Typhoon can fly, fully armed with their kill outside visible distance missiles for 1,830 miles AND there is an airstrip on the islands. AND don’t forget the Type 45’s. How are you going to disable the airstrip with just ONE of these ships nearby? Answer: NO chance.

But, you see, it won’t come to an armed conflict if only because you lot can’t fight your way out of a paper bag and your only hope, ‘Dead Man Walking’ Chavez won’t be with us much longer, ha, ha, ha.

BTW we now have two F35Bs for training our forces, with more coming in the New Year.

What do you argies have coming soon?
    IMF Red Card
    Raging inflation
    More civil unrest
Judgement against you in favour of NML
    Your flagship still in Ghana
The other old tub being extensively refitted after the self-induced fires in the engine room
Car production cesing when the IMF decision hits home
Being chucked out of the G20

“No carriers and jets to have air cover”

There is an aircraft carrier called MPA.

Perhaps you would like to explain how your ancient museum style air force could put MPA out of action after your airfields have been destroyed by Tomahawks?

If MPA is taken out, you still have to get past ground to air missiles and that's only if NO RN ships are in the area.

I don't think the Brits are losing much sleep over a dying creature like CFKs Argentina that can talk the talk but cannot walk the walk.

If MPA is wiped out, that means you can't land any transport or military aircraft and it would take no more than a few days for our subs to send all of your Navy (the ships that are not broken down or impounded in foreign ports that is) on a one way ticket to say hello to the Belgrano.
