Argentina has filed complaints with the World Trade Organization against the United States over limits on beef and lemon shipments, and against the European Union and Spain for curbs on bio-diesel, Foreign Minister Hector Timerman announced. Read full article

Argentina Min of Ag figures are not to be trusted. No FMD? Well we heard those denials before.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 01:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0While thier outbreak of the disease was going on their Ministry vets were trying to contain an outbreak of FMD which of course didnt exist from a govt point of view, by ring vaccination. They were not successful and so the plague bacillus which of course they said they didnt have was exported to Uruguay with the result that all our hard won markets were lost, ships of meat being turned round in mid voyage and the meat thrown overboard as a feast for the sharks. That damn nearly sent our country broke.I dont think it was a malicious act against Uruguay but the doubt lingers. So nobody trusts the figures or sanitary status that Argentina puts out. Uruguayan statistics ARE trusted and thats why we get a better price for our beef on international markets than our cousins on the other side of the Rio de la Plata

You are quite honestly mentally insane, as in loco where a padded room with rubber floors and a lock are involved.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 05:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0Dengue fever along the border with Uruguay... you are quite frankly delirious, or an opium smoker, or both. In an era of internet and in a country where whether you accept it or not 78% of people have internet (highest in Latin America), and 98% have cable or satelite (2nd highest in the Americas), and where there is still an opposition... how do you explain not a word about this dengue endemic in Entre Rios leaking to the outside world?
I mean, do you think, or have a brain? We have terrible pictures leaking out of Syria on a DAILY basis, where they have no internet, no media but state controlled channel, the people are being massacred, and a completely tolalitarian regime...
...yet not one report of this dengue crisis makes it out of that totalitarian hermit state called Entre Rios?
Like I said, you must have lose units within your helmet.

As for the WTO being impartial, they are. But Argentina has more trade disputes outstanding against you than any other outcry in history. This one should be added to the queue, and when all those other disputes are settled, the WTO may eventually get around to looking at it.

Dec 06th, 2012 - 07:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentine arguments shift and change with the sand. They could be arguing for and against something simultaneously, in the same breath and without a hint of irony. If you let it, it will turn your brain inside out. It is paradoxical, like time travel, it fecks with your head.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 08:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0For instance. Argentina trusts that the UN will give fair hearing to various Argentine claims but they don't trust the UN one iota. All at the same time.

Dec 06th, 2012 - 10:36 am - Link - Report abuse 0Good points. They're a bit like the regime in the book '1984', where black is white, 2+2=5, wrong is right, war is peace etc...
They are trying to brainwash the people of Argentina into not thinking for themselves.
Already they are trying to stifle the freedom of the press. It won't be long before speaking out against the regime is illegal, and a short journey from there to accusing people of 'thought' crimes, and disappearing them off the streets, just like the bad old days of the Junta.
It was only yesterday that she was saying that she didn't want to be judged by these kinds of organisations and yet now she wishes to rely on them. Either do one thing or the other, this is possibly the most capricious government I have come across. Just do what you say you are going to do. Resign from the G20, leave the IMF, leave the WTO and rely on your strong ties in Mercosur to give you all the investment you need. Default on all bonds governed by a jurisdiction that is not your own and re-issue them in pesos. I'm actually with CFK on this one, Argentina doesn't want to trade with the rest of the world except on their own terms so why don't they just try it. Also, while you're there, collect all the peso notes in the monetary system, burn them and replace them with gold coins. If you don't have enough of these them you could suggest that the people just barter instead.

US, UK Canada, etc. are the champion of the hypocrisy. Inspection in Argentina on meat processor plants companies coming from US, EU, etc. require that plants have to have more sanitary measures than a hospital. Clothing has to be white, without pockets, and all sort of accessories, etc. tables and instruments used in contact with the meat or animals has to be of inox 304 and not coloured dark instruments are allowed.
Processing meat places has to be all white tailed, corners of walls rounded in inox 304, etc, etc, etc.
But they allow the use of the US made Jarvis and other manufactures Cash Knocker in Argentina and in US I saw pictures or workers in US meat factories using jeans, blue clothing, boots blacks and other stuff that will turn down any license of any meat exporter even in Africa.
Now see the colour of a cash knocker used in Canada, US and UK

Dec 06th, 2012 - 01:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Arg gov't has absolutely no idea what happens in the outer Provinces, the medical services are basically non-existent and there is no reporting. You would be one unlucky person to come down with something while traveling in Misiones or Corrientes, very unlucky and probably dead.
So the WTO agreement on investment was to provide effective protection for investors against nationalisation, expropriation, and measures tantamount to expropriation [1]. Spain was acting to protect their own interests by refusing to buy merchandise from a pariah state as a direct result of their 'theft through expropriation' of the assets of spanish shareholders. This showed the Argentines moving away from 'the path of dialogue and negotiation' [2].
Dec 06th, 2012 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm really not clear what the Argentinians are expecting to get told by the WTO with regards to their own actions which, yet again, go against the WTO agreements that they signed up to. They simply refuse to accept core facets of the UN charter and major investment agreements in the framework of the WTO.
Seriously, are they pathologically incapable of sticking to any kind of agreement? Does anyone have any research showing a genetic need for argentinians to renege on agreements of all kinds?

Now, let's get something straight in simple words that simple trolls can understand
1) Dengue is spread by mosquitoes that have been infected by feeding on dogs that carry the parasite. There are two main types. The first one gives the patient severe headaches and fever. First time most people survive, second time 10% die, third time 50% die. No cure, like malaria. Only way of ensuring you don’t die is to move to somewhere that is free of it and never return.
The second type is more like a haemorrhagic fever and many people die even with the first time of infection. Still no cure.
BTW, birds have been found with the antibodies to Dengue (meaning they have survived the disease) along the south coast of the UK in the last four years.
2) Necrotizing fasciitis does NOT eat human flesh, the bacterium which causes the disease produces toxins in the tissue that are so powerful they destroy the deep seated flesh by the toxic shock syndrome mechanism. Mortality can approach 70% if untreated.
This disease CAN be treated however using a cocktail of high powered antibiotics.
Most patients are already ill, suffering from trauma surgery, cancer or diabetes.
If you claim that AG does not have this disease you are poorly informed or you are lying.

A South Carolina grandmother has become the fifth victim of the flesh-eating bacteria that has sparked terror across Georgia.
Danny, South Carolina is not in the UK. How stupid are you? The story even gives you a little map as well. This sort of sums up how stupid you really are. @42
Dec 06th, 2012 - 02:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0That's because NO ONE lives in a rural area. Some little town of 2000 people in the middle of western La Pampa province 50 km away from the next 2000 people town may appear rural, but it is not. Argentina is one of the most urbanized nations on the planet, I think over 9 in 10 live in non-rural areas.
So if your 30% rural non-electrification is true it is a tiny fraction of the country, probably indian reservations in the north (those people don't want to pay for electricity), some German menonnite communities in the western Pampa who by religious edict prohibit electricity, and cabin communities in Patagonia (either of rich people or the hippie, Age of Acquarium culture in the Lakes Region of Rio Negro), whose owners don't want electricity on purpose.

“Britain is in the grip of a new “flesh-eating bug spread by sneezes and coughs”, Thursday February 2 2012
But don’t worry the bacteria seems only to eat flesh from honest people and heterosexuals.
You bloody bastards are quite safe.
But don’t worry Argies scientists are working hard to develop a variant of this bacteria to eat kebabs and Curry. And are planing to put some kilos on missile to shoot over Mount Pleasent to starve your Army.
Sounds good and clean
daniella.....rather than deflect and divert storyline attention, tell my why they want to sell to the USA.......you brownsuit trolls ranted until your testicles shriveled up that argentina does not need these organization or the capital countries.....what is this contradiction?
Dec 06th, 2012 - 06:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0USA and EU are asking WTO to rule immediately on the Argentinian trade import restrictions.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 06:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I guess this stunt backfired like all the rest.
What a bunch of boobs running this country.
to rule immediately
Dec 06th, 2012 - 06:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sounds like you are confident that these organizations are in the pocket of the US and EU.
And I thought they were impartial and free of corruption.
These northern foreign-fiends delate themselves.
Argentina has more international trade disputes than any other country and is the World's top protectionist country with nearly all imports having to be approved by the government. More from the comedy club that is governing present day Argentina...

Dec 06th, 2012 - 07:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It means your products are not very good if the government has to inspect them all. Maybe you should improve your production standards.
Au contraire Guzz.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 07:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0QA is high on the most refined of products.
It's the crap products that get shoved through by the bucket load that never get checked.
After all, if it's all shit, why bother checking it? ;)
Argentina is fed up with being the giver and not receiving anything in return. The dispute continues.

Dec 06th, 2012 - 07:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'm sure we have a little more pull than a corrupt dictatorship.
Now where to go for Christmas...I'm thinking London it is so pretty this time of year.
Well, ourTrollady #76, speaking as an erstwhile 'northern foreign-fiend' from some northern foreign field, if there's any delating to be done I prefer to delate myself rather than have it done to me ... though I'm open to offers ;-)
Dec 06th, 2012 - 07:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Looks like ANOTHER very heavy rain storm in BA Province, when oh when will they be able to plant the SOY.

Dec 06th, 2012 - 09:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Slattzzz, we can challenge that. I'm ex Royal Navy and did a lot of work with the US Navy and know a thing or two about it. This could be fun.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 09:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I'd hazard most American's know nothing of the conflict other than Argentina stole a lot of money from American's. Argentina isn't important enough to make it too mainstream American news.
I hate to break it to you Xect....that conflict was in our TV rooms for the entire 73 days.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 09:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I would just ask Pro RG American what they call basic recruits. In the Army we were a cross between swinging dicks and maggots........US Navy as there term of endearment.
@92 in your singular subjective perspective, yes, you probably consider it to be the best.
Dec 06th, 2012 - 10:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@92 rr The argentine beef still is the best. kept in Argie land

Kebabs and curry stuff or Burritos and tacos?
96. Last time I was in BA I had the worst beef I have ever been served! Plus is was $110 PESOS!! Go look at every RG travel board and you can see that the myth of RG beef is long past its prime and probably will never come again.

Yes sure if you want to die of cancer of liver plus to get a good gynecomastia (Big boobs) due to the tons of hormones used to rise your cattle.
@99
Dec 07th, 2012 - 11:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0It's no wonder it tasted like shit. if the old cow they have as president is anything to go by.
I don't buy Argentinian products simply, because not only do they taste suspect, but any profit accrued ends up being spent on bullets and guns that will be aimed at the falkland islanders, during some sadistic game of russian roulette that their 'honorable servicemen' seem to like playing with innocent civilians.
Dec 07th, 2012 - 01:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It's that simple.
Dany, Since you apparently know nothing of your own country, for about 10 years Argentina uses the same hormones and feed lot system as the USA.
Dec 07th, 2012 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The days of grass fed beef are long gone in your country.
Not only are they gone there is no grading or marking for beef in Argentina you have no idea what you are buying or eating.
It is too bad, I used to love eating beef there but alas it is yet one of the many industries destroyed by the Ks never to return.
@103 yankeeboy you have no idea what you are buying or eating
Dec 07th, 2012 - 01:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Although, to be fair, some of the best meals that I've eaten have been curries and gyros that are decidedly MQO (Meat of Questionable Origin) based.
Remember, a dog isn't just for Christmas, if you carve it properly it'll last Boxing Day as well.
ANd for the record, the best beef comes from Japan.......Kobe Beef if anyone has ever had it, they know what I am saying then. Not inexpensive by any means either.
Dec 07th, 2012 - 01:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@Dannybuggerer Do you have any thoughts on the sexual abuse the young Argentine conscripts suffered at the hands of Argentine officers back in 82 and why so many young Argentines were so happy once The British had won and helped these young guys???? That certain cannot be true because you have said several times that Argentina is a Poor country, Technologically Backwards, Cannot Afford to buy Medicines (especially from US), has a dollar clamp and has not money to invest.
So the poor cows count only on sun, water and grass.
@andy65
Nope I never heard of that but I heard that you are pretty good on that especially if you work for BBC

Dec 09th, 2012 - 01:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0As an Irish man who has lived in London most of my life, worked in Canada,Australia,Peru.yes and Argentina.I can tell you that if the latter had the rule of law and development assistance that the E.U. could provide,it would become paradise on earth I would have no hesitation in retiring there
As an Englishman, I worried about the lawlessness, corruption, etc of Brasil, but I retired there anyway .... and not within a protected, gated 'community', like all the ex-pat USA Americans 'round these parts.

The one that was telling you that in Iraq were WMD...
The one that was telling you that all was so fine until credit crunch F U up?...
The one that bribes police, politicians and public servants to see if Nanny smelly Queen had changed her underwear in the last couple of weeks?
BTW tell me who in the world can be proud to have in 2012 a Queen and a Royal Family eh?

What you are talking about here are the news media.
The difference between the UK papers is that they REPORT the news, in Argentina, CFK would have them report only what she approves or dictates. In other words, INVENT the news or editorialise it, in line with any message the government wants to send to the people.
Dunkel berger so anti nazi With that name we know what he is for a start
Dec 09th, 2012 - 07:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Regarding the EU, Argentina has questioned a specific Spanish government order which bans the use of Argentine bio-diesel as bio-fuel for transport
Dec 09th, 2012 - 10:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Cause and effect-something Argentina will never understand.
Cause-RGs displace Repsol Effect, simple, Spanish retaliate by banning RG bio diesel.
Is this that hard for Argentina to grasp?
Cause 1832-UPRP send in a militia to Islands UK has claim over since 1690 Effect, simple-after protest ignored by UPRP, UK eject militia in 1833.
Cause: 1982 Argentina invade FIs imposing a government the inhabitants of the Islands do not want. Effect, simple 1982 Argy squatters evicted .
Cause -Argentina imposes protectionist measures limiting imports to Argentina. Effect-other countries impose protectionist measures against RGs limiting imports from Argentina.
What's the Spanish for Doooh?

What do you think of southern Brazil? I,m told its the best part

Dec 10th, 2012 - 12:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry, I'm not knowledgable about the more 'European' south of Brasil, though I have lived a little in the (expensive) higher altitude communities of Sao Paulo State. Santa Caterina would suit me for its fishing, because I love the marine coasts. and the Matto Grosso for its freshwater fishing, but these days, I like hills and coasts better.
I love the 'Angolan-influenced' North East Brasil, with its diversity of cultures, its hot tropical beaches and reefs. and Carnival is pretty universal across this large country. Get used to flying, it is VERY big.
These days I see countries through the eyes of the retired naturalist, and I get more of a buzz from seeing a sloth than I do from seeing an Englishman.
Good on Timmerman, always nice to see Argentina turn the tables on the smug hypocrites that run the developed world...
