Former Economy minister Roberto Lavagna said that it will take Argentina “at least three years” to liberate the country from the ‘dollar clamp’ if as of this month it was decided to execute a policy to end restrictions on the purchase of foreign currency. Read full article

He obviously doesn't 'get' Cristina's ecomonic miracle model.

But neither does any other sensible person who can add 2+2 and see it equals 4.

In Cristina's model 2+2 can equal whatever number she needs it to be on that particular day.

    Very brave man indeed.

I wonder when the death annoucement will appear, 'due to an accident' of course.

Pity TMBOA did not consult him from the start: ahh, I see the weakness in my argument - she only listens to the voices in her head!

@1 I don't believe you. You can't be saying that Cristina's miracle model is wrong! That's blasphemy. Cristina is always right. Hasn't she said so often enough?

This is just a “minor” glitch. But it's all the fault of the British. By holding back argieland's legitimate aspirations to own everything!

Wise words of advice Mrs K would be best to listen to and learn from. Tis only someone like Lavagna (under a new and quite different administration) who will ever get Argentina's economy back on to a level.

As long as as Cristina's friends and the lazy degenerates are happy, the “miraculous” model is working fine. Those complicated number things don't matter.

If you were measure her bank account, her efforts would be rather successful right?

Besides if something goes wrong...um...Malvinas, Malvinas, something anti-British, blame the IMF, democracy, Evita! Then smile and hope people aren't smart enough to know what's going on.

Well this is a natural consequence of trying to squash the symptom rather than fixing the root cause of a problem - why is so much of the Argie economy settled in dollar rather peso (or sea shells whatever works this week).

She means well, good heart under all that slap and she's only got us on number 105 in the perceived cooruption list with a score of 35.Mean while luver boy is 156 with a score of 19,perhaps he can give her some tips on how to improve her corruption ratings before he legs it for more treatment from fiddler and raul down Havana way.Mr Lavagna is a liar trying to destabilise the country,so the story goes.

    @ 11 Pirat-Hunter

“ I can still buy US dollars in Argentina if I pay taxes, anyone bought Argentine pesos in USA?”

    Really?

    Why can't anybody else?
    - except if they travel abroad, then U$S 30 per day or at 6,40 pesos per dollar in the “blue” market.

Argentines can't buy Euro, British pounds, Chileno pesos, ... either.

The simple reason why you can't buy Argentine pesos in the US is that no US bank will accept them, thus they don't have them in stock.

You seem to forget that we have friends in Argentina who keep us informed about thow things REALLY are.
