Money is a beast no human can ever predict, the only problem with it that it is only loyal to greed! Sooner or later they all meet their match. I don't think any multinational can help Argentina, as they never done before, In some cases they even taken land and are trying to make up a new country with 3000 British illegal aliens.

You should only congratulate them once the deal has been signed. In the past the Argentine government were very quick to say that: China/Russia/USA etc.. Had signed deals only to be embarrassed when they realised that the other side had walked away without signing anything.

At least they're being more cautious this time, and not spouting rubbish that the Norwegians have signed the deal, just that they're in negotiation.

Looks like someone will be spending their Christmas on their bathroom floor vomiting and crying with a bottle of vino in one hand and anti-depressants in the other.

December will be a very unpleasant month for botox inflated retardation.

@8 It's not negotiations. It's pleading. But it's good to read that they are “close” to signing deals with Bridas and Chevron. That leaves plenty of time for the respective shareholders to scream “Not a chance!” Leaving argieland to crawl back into the forest.

Looks like their pleading for their boat back has been delayed again too because:

“the two parties failed to reach agreement on when to submit their appeals to the Court of Appeal”

The captain of the Libertad is going to have a very dull Christmas.

I'm pretty sure if Arg gets booted from the IMF no Int'l public company will be able to invest in the country since they won't be able to get insured loans.
I'm sure Statoil has the same sort of guidelines in their charter.

I bet the car companies will have to pack up and leave too.

You have to give Mr Galuccio credit, where credits due (no pun intended) he is really working hard at this.

Into a force 10 gale you could have put! :o)

Just how many of these 'investments' have been announced now?

It reminds me of the cnut Brown who regularly announced things in the House, that he had already announced and then withdrawn.

Nothing is settled until the money has been disbursed.

Only THEN will I believe it.

@18 The poor chap is is just trying to get some traction. Even this Bridas Corp company is a joint venture that I'm guessing is La Campora run. Chevron are being held at gunpoint.

The turnout of willing investors is likely to be v. low through fears of finger burning (predictably having one's assets seized by the state/maximo).

Statoil will talk till the Chevron case is settled(1 year plus)after all one day the Argentine government will change, they will be aware of the danger to their US investments if they do if they do otherwise
I dont know much about the others but I bet they use dollars, that makes them vulnerable in any major Banking regime.
