Did I miss something? I didn't see her say anything along the lines of “he wasn't corrupt...” It appears that she simply doesn't want the media to report about corruption in government. Is my take on this correct?

“It appears that she simply doesn't want the media to report about corruption in government. Is my take on this correct?”

It appears that your government school has failed you with comprehensive reading. Read again. She, Dilma Rousseff, is blasting the so called media that is using somebody's word for accusing a known and popular president (Mr Lula da Silva) without providing any proof. She is NOT blasting the media reporting about the corruption in the government. Matter of fact, they did reported on the corruption in the government and amazingly, they also praised her (lightly,) for getting rid of the corrupted officials and let justice take care of the problem. Seems it works there if they want. Wish the same here too in the US, anyway, all info i can find on US newspapers and even on the eCONomist.

“That could change if the allegations made by Valerio were proven. Critics have long alleged that the scheme could not have been carried out without Lula' da Silva’s knowledge, or tacit approval, but so far no proof of either has surfaced. ”

If Mr Valerio was serious, he would already have done that, and if he is still serious, he should provide the press asap his evidence that Mr Lula was involved / knew about everthing. So far, nothing than (empty) words.

@3 Fido, what's the story sister??? I'm always amused by your feeble attempts at condescension. So angry at the world, except your beloved Brazil, which I don't think you've ever even been to have you? You really have gotten your ass beat a lot in your life haven't you? A Dutchman who lives in the U.S. but is obsessed with Brazil. Interesting.

Nope, my reading comprehension is just fine. My take is still that she doesn't want any reporting done on corruption in Brazil's government. But then again, I'm not obsessed with Brazil, so I guess my take on it is different.

    Have a good one sister....

    3 Fido Dido.

Exactly, I think you summed it up perfectly. A lot of people say a lot of things that are merely allegations, you only have too look at the source. Lula da Silva is entitled too the presumption of innocence, good for President Rousseff.

Watch out, or Dildo will be calling you a retard: that is what he resorts to when he has lost the argument.

AND, he is going to lose this one as well for here is the evidence that he claimed did not exist:-

    http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/119120/lula-knew-about-vote-buying-scheme-convicted-bagman

This guy 'knew where the bodies were buried because he helped bury them'.

BTW Dildo couldn't get the obvious point that as Presidente Lula should have known about the vote corruption and his people stuffing their pockets AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Off you go Dildo, full rant mode, frothing at the mouth, retards all of us!

Peace and blessings be upon you! Worked that one out yet - I bet not?

He knew about everything. This is quite obvious. The big problem in Brazil is how to muster institutional support for what would be the most important trial in the history of the country. If the trial does not happen, then Brazil will remain an obscure extra.

Yes, I'm Dutch, Brazilian girlfriend, we both live in the US and I'm a fan of Brazil. I look forward to be there again.
If you have an issues with that, your problem, anyway go back to your government school, you suck in reading.

What most of you detracting observers HAVE failed to take note of is this: Corrupt or not, there is doubt based on facts exposed in the trial, and the judiciary, which is composed strongly of members of “upper class” families, have rejected Lula's inclusion in the accusations based on a lack of evidence. But there is no lack of evidence that the consevativd, elitist press has a strong vendetta against a populist president and if they can find no evidence, they are not above making it up. They csimply cannot abide having a poor guy who made his way up somehow soil the Planalto Palace. Kind of reminiscnt of FOX (FAUX) News in the United States. I mean, cme on! How DARE a BLACK man have the cojones to think he should occupy the WHITE House?? Racism, classism, they are all the same.

    @ 10:

Hostility to Lula has nothing to do with his background. In fact, it is precisely because he was very popular with the middle and upper classes that he was elected president twice in a row. The reason many Brazilians now hate him is that it has become abundantly clear that he is not only a liar and a hypocrite but also a steadfast enemy of liberty. He and his party have tried to turn Brazil into a Cuban latrine. Thanks to the independent judiciary and the free press, they have failed. So suck it up, and get over it, bitch.
