A majority of the Brazilian population, 63% is dissatisfied with the performance of the police forces and 90% considers the justice system ‘too slow” according to a survey from the Getulio Vargas Foundation think-tank Law School, released this week. Read full article

    Breakdown of trust in the police ...
    It is an unspoken axiom that Brasil allows low salaries, believing - even calculating into pay negotiations - that the policeman on the streets can supplement salary by extorting from the motorist, etc.
    This is no way to manage public services, and Dilma should address this as soon as possible.

    Baroso is the 'great white hope' for the judiciary (wry joke, but you know what I mean).
