Rioting and looting because the President is out of touch with the people, says Moyano

Argentine dissident organized labour leader Hugo Moyano claimed on Friday that President Cristina Fernandez is out of touch with the people and “the lackeys she has are scared of her and can only say stupid things”. Moyano’s strong words followed accusations by the government that he was behind the extended rioting and looting that hit several Argentine cities on Thursday and Friday. Read full article

The term “lackeys” invoked a strongly worded response from Mr Timerman: “Only last week I left a cabinet meeting to go to the toilet without putting my hand up. And yesterday I said 'No' to Cristina. Indeed she asked if I would be repeating my rebellious disloyal stunt of going to the toilet without asking permission and I told her 'No'. Quite firmly”.

As usual, Cristina´s strategy is to blame others, the opposition, the labor union leadership, Clarin, the Judges, the Hedge Funds, the Northern Hemisphere, the Southern Hemisphere, you name it...

But what she needs to do is to assemble her cabinet and start some real soul-searching into why things are going so wrong.

now ck has her reason to send her SA troops La Campora with her son at the peak.
forbid the unions and throw mojano and medina into jail due to majesty insult!
what they said is what I say since years: the government is a silly, stupid, criminal gang of liars, ignoring the rights of people, only looking to keep their personal profits.
they completely know that they are at the end with their politic. the “model” is scrap because it cannot be paid any longer. they tell the ´poor´ lies regarding their increase of income. the inflation everything gobbles up again.

Was it really organised or did an element in Bariloche start something that others saw as opportunist?

It doesn't take much with modern networking for something localised to become a national incident. Though it does take people willing to break the law to do it.

What does it say about a country where the people think the gov't organizes riots?

It strikes me as ludacris that the Rg posters on this board talk about Democracy like they have ever experienced it. Their minds are warped, brainwashed, clueless. It is frightening how stupid a whole country can get over a couple generations.

I wonder how many Northern tourists have opted to go to Uruguay or Chile rather than the rat hole of Argentina this season?

In Argentina they have “Asphalt Pirates” which are gangs of thugs who take over a bus or truck and rob it or steal it. It happened last night on along distance bus, 100s of people robbed on the highway.

    So dangerous and scary...

To try and compare, the USA can take land as well, though I am unaware of the USA ever taking an entire business entity. We call land appropriation “Eminent Domain”. However, it has to be because of a project of public good, like a roadway, power plant etc. And they have to compensate for fair market value and any loses current and future. Apparently in argentina they just say....“let's take that”.

The malls in Mendoza are friekin PACKED!! And there's like twice the retail space than even two years ago!

    http://www.losandes.com.ar/notas/2012/12/22/fiebre-compras-navidad-687259.asp

And it's still not even “Noche de compras”, which is the night before Nochebuena, and the malls stay open 24 hour through the night, their biggest day of the year.

It shows how well diversified and robust the Mendoza economy is. And winning prizes all over the world in wine, medical research, tourism, and energy industrial manufacturing.

And no looting, no mass shootings... just peace and happiness, as the Harvest County fair season has begun. Mendoza is the only province in Latin America where each departamento (county), has its own party and county fair... choosing their “queen” for the Vendimia festival. And it goes on all summer long ending in the Bacchanal main event when there are wine tastings everywhere and wine flows through the streets, literally.

Captain Poppy, you may well be correct. The botox queen has sown the wind and now she will reap the whirlwind. It's a possibility that she may soon depart from the roof of the Casa Rosad by helicopter just like de la Rua did in 2001.

Who knows, if she and her lackeys keep on dragging the country down she may meet a nasty end, just like the other president (who also tried to escape by helicopter - Caucescu in Rumania in December 1989.

Unfortunately, I believe that she has created an attitude of entitlement. People do not have to work but can ransack the supermarkets etc.

What chance is there of the military staging a coup as they used to do when they disagreed with the politicians?

Toby you should buy as many hard goods while you can before the devaluation happens. Maybe that is why the malls are so full?

One thing that struck me as odd when I first moved to Argentina is that people walk around with shopping bags even though they have not bought anything, They usually have old items in there or nothing at all. andif you look really close you can tell the bags are old.

@Nostrolldamus The 3rd You need to get a grip with reality you baboon your supporting a lost cause we have been telling you for months but sounds like crissy must be paying you to stay faithful while normality collapses around you.
perhaps you need to read the following also

Eurozone recession means UK fastest growing major economy in Europe in 2013 and 2014

Eurozone to remain in recession in 2013 and ‘only marginal growth’ in 2014

A distinctly worse Eurozone outlook is likely, according to the latest global forecasts by Cebr, the
    economics consultancy.
The think tank now forecasts that the Eurozone recession will continue through 2013 and only
marginal growth is likely for 2014.
Although UK growth is likely to be held back by the weakness in its Continental trading partners,
UK GDP growth for 2013 and 2014 is likely to be faster in each year than in any of the major
    European economies.

In its new quarterly edition of Global Prospects, the think tank predicts sluggish growth at best for
the world economy for the next four years. Moreover, the outlook could well be worse than this –
the risk of disruption through Middle East political disputes or through a collapse in the Eurozone
would make prospects distinctly worse, at least in the short term.

The forecast growth for 2012 and 2013 for the world economy has been further revised down very
slightly since the last projections were made in August (see Table 2), although the forecast for
2014‐2016 remains on average the same.

If there are no unusual disruptions to supply in the Middle East, the price of oil is forecast to drop
by about $5 per barrel on average in 2013 and primary commodity prices by 8% because of the
weak world economy and its impact on demand.
The fastest growing economies are in the emerging markets. The eight main Sub‐Saharan African
economies are forecast to grow by 4.6% in 2013 and 5.1% in 2014; the Middle East by 3.3% in 2013
and 4.2% in 2014 and the ASEAN economies ar

The speeches never give direct answers, the speeches are full of “I'm dismissing you.” Chip away, chip away until you are numb to the evil and cruelty of the learning curves.

Actually andy65 the Libertad is a fine sailing vessel, I've seen her ,been on her. However I agree that there is nothing to celebrate, though the peronist have no pride so they cannot be humiliated, only laughed at.

At #54 I stated that it was too bad for you that I don't talk to homosexuals, retards, perverts, child molesters or stalkers.

piss hunter you speak so irrational.....lol! As for making a coward of your magnitude go home, it would take a nuclear detonation to move you from Canada. You bleed yellow when cut, you call people names like a prepubesent. Retards, molesters, homosexuals, stalkers. You are beyond sad. The entire six weeks I am in Argentina I will be wondering why you are afraid of your own country. Perhaps you are the child molester running form Argentine justice.

The Espora should have taken up to six months to repair (makers estimate) but has sailed.

I have seen the photos of the damage that the electrical fire caused: total electrical system meltdown. I can only think that TMBOA has ordered it back coincidental with the sailing ship for a double whammy 'good for us' crap when it (if it) gets to port.

Woe betide the Captain if he is a day late or if it stops yet again.

    @65 Pirat-Hunter
“I don't talk to homosexuals, retards, perverts, child molesters or stalkers”

Well as a homosexual I will happily talk to a retard like you.

What a juveline and petty person you are. What is so funny is that you sabotage your own points by such careless and purile statements such as this.

Please continue with statements such as these because it just higlights the paucity of logic in the arguments you espouse. So while you can joyfully cry “that CFK delivered once again” because the ARA Libertad is on its way back, you can't say the same that she has delivered one of the highest inflation rates in the world as it continues towards 30%. Let's bundle that with growth that has pretty much stalled for the past 12 months.

Now let's include the protests and looting. Yes CFK is delivering it all.

You are so vacuous that you you fall the 'bread and circuses'. This ploy is so simple that the rest of the world is forever in awe that people like you fall for it.

The greatest part about all this is that you can't reply to me because I am a proudly open gay man and you don't talk to homosexuals. So not only can I beat you senseless on here with words (without breaking a sweat), I'd do the same face to face too.

    Remember now, don't reply!

Anglotino, I am happy that a gay man was able to shoot back at him. I am not sure if you are new here but he is a self admitted bi-sexual. We all think he has a sexual identity crisis as he lashes out at people with what he calls others. As I said before, he calls people homosexuals as if it's some kind of insult. Even without the childish attempts of insults he believes he is hurling, he makes very little sense when he advocates attacking embassies, getting nuclear weapons, eliminating imports. He is an insignificant, angry teen up in Canada....nothing more.

    Captain Poppy

People like Pirat-Hunter are not even a challenge. People who think that calling someone a homosexual, faggot, poofter, joto, maticón etc is an insult are quite pathetic. I'm all those things and still more intelligent than Pirat-Hunter.

    So let's see:
Attacking embassies - go ahead and attack. It will do two things. Highlight that Argentina has a security problem and put Argentina in with a very select group of countries: Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. Also government organised riots have a bad track record-not always controllable once started.

Nuclear weapons - hard to not laugh out loud. What would they pay with? And where would they source their uranium from? Need lots of US dollars for that? Not sure if Argentina has a spare $1 trillion US dollars laying around. Also hard to get uranium when you have eliminated imports.

As for autarky. Where do we start? North Korea is a great example.

So Pirat-Hunter isn't a challenge on any level. The fact he has to repeat the exact same thing ad nauseam on forum after forum in a vain attempt for it to even gain traction is telling.

But he can't reply to anything I say. After all he doesn't reply to homosexuals. LOL lucky me!

CFK is the best president Argentina had in 40 years, she doesn't arm terrorists, she doesn't run CIA, she doesn't murder innocent Muslim women and children as USA and UK do, so ignore the english people here they are payed to trash Argentina by USA and UK. This are the same people who support CIA and ignore crimes in USA and UK. This useless terrorists can't fix Argentina since they can't even control the terrorists they armed in Afghanistan, iraq, libya, pakistan, turkey, Lebanon, Palestine and syria. Soon all this terrorists will go back to USA and UK to roost.

Moyano is a despicable scab, and I wouldn't put it past him to be behind these riots. If not him, likely oligarchic/foreign interests, like the ones he effectively helps...

Looting of over 300 businesses in 40 cities, 3 dead and at least 400 arrested.

And all people do on here is deflect

If Moyano is behind it, why? What does he gain? Worse if “foreign interests” are behind it, why again? Really Argentina isn't that important for foreign governments to be inciting looting. What do they have to gain? Argentina is becoming poorer and slipping down the ranks. There is more and easier money to be made in countries such as Peru, Colombia and Chile without punitive taxes and potential nationalisation.

Argentina is supposedly getting what it wants, to be ignored.

But if it is indeed foreign interests doing this; then people such as British_Kirchener are only highlighting further deficiencies in the Argentine state. How could any competent government allow such foreign influence to gain a foothold in FORTY different cities? All those police forces, the military and intelligence agencies missed someone mobilising THOUSANDS of Argentinean citizens.

Wow, what a sad reflection on the Argentinean government. What do they do all day while foreign agents and unions run around the country organising mob violence? And all to gain..... what exactly? Argentina isn't verging on anarchy. The government is not in danger of being toppled. There will probably be less inward investment, but then again less foreign investment and less imports is exactly what Argentina supposedly desires.

As for deflection, highlighting problems as crimes in the UK or USA doesn't change what is happening in Argentina. It doesn't discuss the reasons or consequences, it just tries to veer the conversation away from the subject. The recent shootings in the US have been discussed by everyone in the US and around the world - where are the discussions on the problems in Argentina? Oh that's right. Here!

    Try it sometime.
