I'm sure she'll simply pass some act of parliament that dissolves the supreme court, nothing can get in the way of her plans to reduce the nation to totalitarian penury.

I understand the right to media plurality but it is all a lie by this government who if Clarin didnt change sides would have been quite happy to leave a supposed “monopoly” in place. The Kirchners lie and manipulate to get their way

I personally, and a huge number of my friends and aquaintances, are sick to death of CFK's obsession with Clarín Group.

There are far more important problems to be solved, such as growing insecurity, inflation, government corruption, increasing poverty, increasing unemployment, increasingly poor education, constant confrontation between government and opposition, lack of discussion, etc.

To hell with Clarín, La Nación, Perfil, or any other media there are REAL problems in Argentina, there is no need to make up new ones!!!!!!

@5 I agree with you, but if you haven't noticed all her decisions are centered around increasing her own fortune. She doesn't mind corruption as long as she gets a slice, the under-educated poor supply a source of inexpensive votes to keep her in power, the criminal tendencies of many of them have served her well, and they wouldn't be such big fans if the police were giving them a well deserved beat down.

Petty tyranny requires some semblance of a military force and criminals supply that. Since they aren't formally employed by her, she can't be directly held accountable for their thuggery.

In her own mind, she's starting a “revolution”. That means that it must be successful at all costs. Discussion is not an option. If there is someone that points out her flaws and weaknesses, they must be punished and silenced. She is creating these domestic problems. Addressing them would undermine her crazy b!%$# agenda.

    Absolutely right!

CFK didn't have the guts to take part in the fighting of the 1970's, she and Nestor were too busy squeezing money out of the poor with the 1050. So now she's got the power she's making her own revolution and the “infamous” 54%, really 32.6%, thought they were getting a welfare state, “qué pelotudos”!!!!!

If its unconstitutional to stand up to entrenched monopolistic power then the constitution is an ass; its only a matter of time before the corrupt establishment in both the judiciary and the media are shaken up...

The thing is Cristina and her husband were in cahoots with Clarin and created the monopoly in 2007 for their support. When they changed sides in 2008, Cristina created the media bill to break an enemy up. The media bill was a means to destroy an enemy and was in no way intentionally designed for media plurality. CFK would have been quite happy to keep the status quo of 2007 if Clarin toed the line. Therefore it is Cristina who is an ass.

THREE YEARS WITHOUT THE TOTAL APPLICATION OF THE NEW BROADCAST LAW.
A couple of days ago, i said what c. f. k. had answered in 2008, when she was asked about the project for a new broadacst law which was included in her politic platform of 2007, before a group of students of comunications. she answered: maybe it is imposible, but somebody has to do it. After three years of the sanction of the law, i just can express that she wasn't wrong in absolut when she manifested that a new broadacst law would be maybe imposible. Now i wonder, how many more ignorants will continue parroting that c. f. k's gov. handles the justice. On the other hand, it is often repeated by the anti kicrhnersits, that nestor kirhcner's administration had a good relation with the clarin group, and everything changed in 2008 with the conflict with the agrarian corporations, that is actually a very partial truth. Like i said before, the project for a new broadacst law, was included in c. f. k's politic platform of 2007. Beside, none of those people who parrot all the time about the relation between kircher and carin, take into account about the deplorable context that argentina suffered in 2003, when nestor kichner took office. In a country with 55% of poor people, 22% of unemploit people, a country in defautl, and with a president who got such a low popular legitimity (22% of the votes), it was obvious that with that miserable context, kirchner was going to need clarin's help. In that moment, he coudn't think about the democratizing the media, dont you think?. On the other hand, what is omitted in this article, is that the clarin group has always conditioned all the governments since 1983, if you dont believe what i say, i suggest you reading: Clarin los kircher y la lucha por el poder, by Graciela Mochkofsky. She is a great journalist, who is kirhcnerist, but she made a great investigation. After reading that book, you'll understand the true meaning of the so called power.

#9 Created the monopoly in 2007?! Its been going since at least the dictatorship, which it supported bigtime! Wonder if its British defenders of today have thought what kind of material the “Argie Sun” would have been publishing in 1982!

#10 Excellent comment, nice to see some clarity and perspective on here =)
