Three Argentines out of ten living in urban areas, an estimated 11.1 million people must survive with less that 35.5 Pesos per day or 1.067 Pesos monthly, according to data from the latest Standing homes’ survey, performed by the country’s stats office Indec. Read full article

Massive layoffs are already starting to happen since the rampant inflation has made them unproductive. Even their fruits/Vegys and Fish are too expensive to export!

So why is the latest figure so high, even if it includes rent, etc?
Could it be that INDEC are moving the figures around so that when inflation hits 40% they can still claim that everything is going swimmingly?

Marcos did you read all of that document because over 80% of it is slating Argentina for not meeting its obligations, stealing companies, having complaints filed against it at the ICSID not to mention the writer seems to be quoting the hilarious INDEC figures no respectable person believes. It's not even believed within Argentina, hence the red card threat by the IMF.

As opposed to the UK that is still working its way through the euro crisis and remaining stable and its still a top world economy vs Argentina's joke economy and inflation.

This thread is just crawling with trolls. I think those poverty figures will increase because of the policies in place. A large portion of the population is unwilling to work because they relax with all the welfare they're being given. When they do work, they perform miserably and leave you in a position where you have to be more self reliant.

The underpowered engines bought off the shelf. Rolls Royce jet engines, entirely British designed and built power the biggest and best aircraft in the world.
Oh well, I suppose you could buy nukes from your new-found friends in North Korea or Iran. I understand they're making progress in this area and your politicians have been frantically liaising and co-operating. In Argentina, INDEC have admitted (and the way they fudge figures it could be higher), 11 million live on less than US$5 per day (using the correct exchange rate not the deliberately low false one imposed by the government).
That's 25% of YOUR population.
Poor in the UK equals working to lower middle class in Argentina right now.

1. The UK is the 6th largest economy in the world
2. Argentina is the 26th economy of the world / In the top 5 countries for the worst inflation
3. The UK is the 4th largest military spending nation in the world
4. Argentina is the 49th largest military spending nation in the world. or in simpler terms the UK spends over 21 times as much
I can keep going but the more we compare the two countries, the more we can see the only country that is finished is Argentina.......

I'd say 12, 15 or even 20/1 by december 2013.
It may be even worse after the midterm elections, depending on the way they go. If CFK manages to get her own thugs in there's nothing to stop her destroying what's left of the constitution and becoming president-for-life “AFRICAN STYLE”. At that point we could see her go 'full mugabe'. At that point, expect 5o or 100 pesos to the dollar by year's end :)

They're the ones saying that a quarter of the Argentine population are trying to survive on US$ 7 (actually US$ 5 taking into account the true exchange rate - not the deliberately low one imposed by the government) a day.
Not only that, but they have to live on this pittance while all the time the prices of food and fuel are increasing, due to Argentina's 25% inflation.
The questions you, and other Argentine citizens should be asking, nay demanding, from your government is what are they doing about it?
I mean, constantly bringing up the 'Malvina's' myth, and waving the Argentine flag, isn't creating jobs. It isn't improving the lives of the poor. It isn't allowing Argentina to develop.
